Josh, Ford sells a diesel sealant TA-31. Use it on this engine. It is the best out there. It is made by Loctite. Gray in color. It was developed for turbo diesel engines. I use it on diff covers, water pumps, intake, etc. 40 years of wrenching experience and nothing is better.... just my educated .02. It is about $20 a tube at the dealership.
I used to work for Ford on the diesels and I will agree. It is the best stuff I have ever used to seal an engine. Once I get around to resealing my front cover and oil pan on my Cummins I'll be using this stuff.
I know you like Duramax diesels. It is cool to see you get excited over building a Cummins. Would be cool to hear your opinions of any Cummins strong points over a Duramax as you tear into this engine and learn more about it.
I've heard some early Cummins engines had a loud combustion, which made them very loud engines. Apparently they re-designed the pistons and injector injection rates to make them quieter and more powerful. I remember the article but I found the information while researching my noisy 2000 5.9.
But the good 1/2” impact to get from HF is the Earthquake. No lie on the torque rating. It’s a Milwaukee clone. Took a Lunette ring off a 15 ton trailer, those 7” long 3/4” bolts. AvE has a good tear down review on those too.
I'm gonna be buying my FIRST DURMAX in three weeks. I found a hell of a deal on an 06 WHITE CREW CAB SHORT BED z71 4X4 FULLY LOADED LBZ!!! Gonna be doing all the upgrades I went through it FOLLOWING your advice man!!! Thank you so much I about got "gotten" on an 07 LBZ.... Those r common rail rods. I personally never seen those in a 24v. They usually all have the 12v/ 24v fractured rods witch r better then cr rods. I even seen fractured in some 03 cr. I just put rods from a 24v in my 04.5
what do you think would be a better rebuild project, duramax or a cummins? I prefer duramax but since they aren't in as many trucks I think parts will be harder to find. Cummins do have their pros, but they're just so darn heavy. My goal is 1000 pound-feet of torque and 500-700 hp.
Can't believe your working with Miller engine. Matt just built my bottom end on my lbz restoration that I started because of your channel what a crazy small world.
Hello from Canada! New subscriber and first time Duramax owner here (bone stock 2002 Silverado 2500 HD). Great channel, great content and I love your enthusiasm! I agree with the others. I think the Cummins is going to be blue as well!
Love this build series. Keep up the good work. I say the truck will be some sort of blue to make your fleet (wife max and your truck) some MURICA colors. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Olive drab green or whatever its called. Like army color. Since it's private pyle. Maybe even a big star on the hood or side somewhere????? With some black rims.
Great video buddy! I am currently in the process of swapping an Eaton 5 speed on my 5.9 Cummins. An Allison 545 was mated to it originally, I just noticed my rear output shafts are different. I ended up on your video to see how the crankshaft is set up and if the end of it is removable. Since you didn’t remove the crank, my question didn’t get answered. Is the back of the crankshaft built into it or is it removable?! 💛💚💜🤘🏻
Truckmaster...I dont comment much. Thanks for the informative videos. Because of you I bought kryptonite upper control arms and lower ball joints. 2015 Sierra 2500(gm weak points). Semper Fi. Keep it up. 👍💯
I'm 15 and I really want to do a 24v rebuild, my dad is a diesel mechanic and I have a lot of friends who own there own trucks and do all their maintenance so I have resources if I need them, however I can't really source a good engine Does anyone know where I can find a good engine ready for a rebuild, also if you have any advice I'm more than willing to accept it
Don’t get a cheap after market oil pan!!! Some cheaper pans have a painted or coated interior where the oil sits and the oil breaks down the stuff they put on the pan and it’ll get sucked into your pickup tube and you’ll drop oil pressure
i will have to watch the how to maintain a Duramax. no way you are running 15W-40 oil because even at 25F cold start my LMM makes a lot a noise for a few minutes, so after that it always gets "plugged up" when the temp is 40F and colder even at work.

I think what about you turn old red Duramax to Black again because that was a badass color and turn the that Cummins diesel black too and both trucks look badass in the dark
I thinks it’s going to be black! Mrs.Truckmaster liked your truck better black and didn’t she want hers black at one point? Also my next truck will be a Cummings 4th gen I like those interiors the best.
I would definitely reccomend putting rods in the engine if you're shooting for up to 1k horsepower. No sense in putting all the time and money into the engine and not upgrading the rods at that power level
@@GMCJay_lly I agree totally with what you are saying. I just know for me I'd rather spend the extra money and be over built than pushing the top. Would help me sleep better lol

It was tough to see it due to the camera angle but I almost dropped the head 🤦♂️😂

When you moved that head I was like " Yeah shes heavy lol"

Your truck=RED
Wifemax=WHITE
Cummins = BLUE

Factory color Patriot blue!
I think the truck is going to be blue so u have red white and blue trucks

Your red duramax needs clevis's on the bumpers.
all that boost and abuse those cylinders looked beautiful, the crank was so clean, very cool
With Victory Max having the 68mm RDS turbo and the Cummins now going to be compound turbo are you planning on doing trans tuning??
Clearly you have made me a gas lover after your last duramax video.....I owned 3 and your Cummins video looks like Cummins might be a better motor?
Cummins is a stronger engine but the ram truck isn’t built like a Chevy
Can’t beat a Cummins 🤘🏻🚂
Why don’t you run fender liners? I noticed both Duramax’s have them removed still.
I just need to install them 👍

I wait until the glow plug light turns off but I cycle it twice
You should paint it that dark green, I think it was the best color option for second gens
Those aren't burn marks on the back of the bearings. Those rod bearings looked awesome! 5.9 Cummins is God's chosen engine.
Very cool to see the internals on the 5.9
That crank is pretty substantial. It reminded me of one from a 454 BBC.
What are the journal diameters ?
Just checked these on the inter web in comparison. The 5.9 crank journals (rod and mains) are ~ 20% larger than the BBC cranks. Woah
Looking for a delete kit that ai t going to kill me for 14 ram 6.7 cummins. Also, if I delete, do I really need to reprogram?

why dont you do a high output vp from thoroughbred diesel? its way more tunable and controllable
