Thank you! Of all the filmmakers, you’re the one that always makes me question what’s actually real, and what’s not in your films. I mean, I know that spaceships and future cities aren’t real but, visually, I can’t tell the difference. The way you perfectly integrate CGI and reality is an art you’ve perfected that others just don’t seem to grasp. More (big budget) filmmakers need to understand how you do this.

As with the first episode, I have no idea what is going on, but I love this gorgeous, old and worn and slightely mysterious Sci-Fi world. I may not grasp the story yet, but I would easily watch this as a move in the cinemas. And in some way, it's nice to not understand what is going on. It is so entiring in the movie industry, how you are usually treated like a kid, every little details needs to be pointed at your face with a close-up. In real life, you also don't always know what is going on. It's good enough to be on for the ride, and eventually it will come together.

Stunning! I mean I expected it to be amazing as I’m a Patreon supporter (highly recommend it!) so have seen a couple of shots behind the scenes but this is waaaay beyond my expectations.
A surprise 3am release. This is great. Like finding a gold nugget in my bran flakes.
years in, and this never seizes to be mind-blowing. amazing job as always, like, I cannot fathom how this is better than most big budget productions. The worldbuilding, the immaculate designs, attention to detail, craftsmanship, the ingenious tricks and techniques to make this happen with scarce resources, the wit and humor; mmmmmmh everything is just chefs kiss, thank you man!
Fun fact: Leading climate scientists recently reported that 12% of global warming can be attributed to Ian Hubert's graphics card 📈🤯
Edit: Love the effect of the faux SSS on the public payphone boxes in the taxi station.
Hollywood productions boasting (fake) no-cgi movies. Ian Hubert goes and proves once more that cgi is a form of art in itself. AMAZING production, everything seemed perfect to me.
Never thought I would live to see this day.
This is just amazing. Feels exactly like the vision of Mega City One in the Judge Dredd comics back in the 80's. Would be a dream for you to build that world Ian. Congratulations on such stunning work.
You’re getting very good at this Ian.
Thank you Raoul!!
Holy shit this was beautiful!
The set designs and story telling keep getting better and better 🤯
This is God level CGI
Once again I'm amazed by the amazing quality of this, it looks like to have a budget of $100 million but it was probably like $10 thousand
I'm happy to be up late for this.
HES BACK!!! LETS GO!!!
What a wonderful and unexpected treat this was, you all are terrific. Thank you!
“Are you a stripper?”
“Not since the war”
I laughed out loud
This is the most inspiring thing I've seen in a while. Really motivates me to sit down and work on the project I've been putting off. Thank you Ian and team! So incredible.
That was incredible, entirely worth the wait. I *adore* your work. Also, something that I really really loved about your writing, you didn't linger on him thinking Jo abandoned him at the airport, or have this drive some kind of wedge into their relationship. You filled him in almost immediately and I just adore that. You've basically subverted the 'ride never shows up' trope.
It felt like I had more time to linger on the details and get a sense of the atmosphere in this episode, which I really appreciate. Incredible work, as always.
You flimed on a boat! Cool!
WE FILMED ON A BOAT!!!!
@@IanHubert2 HE FILMED ON A BOAT!!!!
BOAT FILMING CONFIRMED!!!1!!2!
It took me a few sentences to recognize Luca as the taxi....but confirming that made me very happy. This is first-rate work as always
This would be incredible work even if it weren't a low-budget one person project! Hope the movie industry is paying attention! Btw: Two-eyes can seem to decide which of his eyes is blind at the 15:45 mark ...
Mostly, but a lot of people were involved in one way or another.
Thats why he has 2 eyes
"One person project"
Did you watch the credits roll?
@@notahotshot Probably not. Ian couldn't have done much without the actors he filmed, the composer, those who financed it etc...
He did do most of the VFX work and editing after that though so I don't want to take away from the grueling work Ian put into this project.
Incredible work by everyone involved! Love the eerie atmosphere you create in the mazy complex.
06:40 - Haha, i recognize the Luka's voice from Slice of Life! Great movie!
Absolutely stunning work Ian. The level of polish in the rendering is immaculate but what really gets me is the insane level of intricacy with all of your robots, vehicles, and mechanisms! I was so excited when I got to chat with you at Open Sauce and you said this was coming soon! Absolutely worth the wait and I look forward to what comes next!
Bro, that taxi scene just outstanding!!!
What? I want more. The music was intense- really cool, and I really liked the costume design. I also liked the slight shaking of the camera every so often- reminded me of clover field. Please bring more. I like these things. So much content. You made it seem like this next one was going to be forever before it dropped- it was a nice surprise. So much content. I loved it. I want more.
I was watching lazy tutorials, missing this. What a blessing.
Man, your lazy tutorials are what got me started on my visual effects journey four years ago, and I remember being so hyped when the episode 1 came out. Great work as always, and thanks for continuing to provide sparks of inspiration.
Incredibly good episode. A breakdown video of the burning house scene for patreon would be interesting 19:11
