    I'm *REALLY* surprised they didn't show the meat grinder!
    Although the 'sausage stuffing part' of it really sucks, there's nothing like the grinder if you want fresh ground hamburger and sausage. _No more wondering if the butcher didn't clean the grinder enough between poultry and then beef, or getting those crunchy things in your ground meat._
    I wouldn't dream of eating a 'medium rare' burger from store bought ground beef, but when I grind my own chuck roast? I know I'm not going to get sick.
    *I'd really miss mine if it was gone!*

    I bought the pasta press, used it once and wish I had never wasted the money. When cutting the pasta as it came out, it all clumped/stuck together. Ended up with globs of pasta dough, not individual macaroni pieces. The pasta roller works great though and the fettuccini and spaghetti noodles turn out great

    • @JC-vf7zs
      @JC-vf7zs ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think the dough needs to have a bit more flour/semolina added to it in order for the extruder to work properly; also. dust your "catching" hand with flour which helps keep the individual pasta shapes separated.

      I had perfect rigatoni and I made spaghetti length strands of thin macaroni and I followed kitchenaid's recipe but with more water and it took forever to dry but it is beauutiful and tasted good. Believe me. There's a learning curve. Keep playing with it. You invested wisely. Don't give up.

      I'll buy it from you if you don't want it, just gotta practice the recipes. The pasta clumping together as it comes out is a side effect of the recipes the pasta doesn't care what machine it came from if it's already out of said machine and sticking together.

  • @danielch6662
    @danielch6662 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What we really need is a pill roller for the extruder. The mixer can mix any _special_ powder 😉 into a dough. The extruder turns it into a round cylinder. All we are missing are two spirals attached to the output to turn them into round spherical pills. Turns it into a pharmaceutical finishing machine. The price of the mixer will not be a barrier for these home based businesses repackaging imported powders. 😜

      I agree. Just made breakfast sausage patties on the medium disk from some country style ribs and it tastes good. I think next time I will use the small disk because some of the sausage at like finely chopped steak. May need to run it through twice next time, but it is great tasting.

    • @patrickdurham8393
      @patrickdurham8393 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FatLittleOldLady I use pork shoulder because it has the perfect fat to meat ratio. Make sure your meat is very cold. I run it through the medium disc, add my seasoning and mix. Then I switch to the fine disc, add a bit of ice water and run my meat through once again. Switch to the stuffer blade and disc then stuff into ½" sheep casings.

    Kind of annoys me that the flex edge isn't the standard attachment that comes with the unit

    • @platinumsky845
      @platinumsky845 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's because it ends up "tossing" dry ingredients so easily as it flexes and flicks across the surface it's scraping. The regular attachment works great for dryer doughs like cookie dough while still working alright for wetter batter like cake batter so it's the best compromise without making people frustrated considering how much dry ingredient mess it would make otherwise.

    • @path4061
      @path4061 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fully agree with you that the food processor sucks. I'm using a pro lift bowl model. The price for the processor attachment is more than a high quality stand alone good processor and comparing the 2 sauce by side, the kitchen aid is garbage. The juicer is terrible also and broke after maybe the 10th time we juiced some fruits. These stand mixers are great for their intended purpose, and terrible with the attachments I've tried. Plus the attachments take up almost as much space in your kitchen as the stand alone units they seek to replace.
