I totally agree about the loneliest times being around tons of people and not craving human interaction. Fellow hermit here. And simultaneously the power of empathic connection 1:1 like you describe here with your older neighbor. Awesome. Our superpower that makes us empathic and caring makes being around people for long DRAINING. I love social distancing.
I feel exactly the same. I pay so much attention to everything around me and listen to every single word people say when they are talking to me, that by the end of the day I am absolutely shattered x x

I thrive on schedules and regularity! I’ve been laid off due to the virus and it’s been so hard to get motivated with no set schedule in place. I need to get on that!
I agree everyone here is on edge too, it's very tense. I live on the beach and we go walking there every day for our daily exercise and people are staring at me and my kids like we shouldn't be there, even though these people are there too (no we don't stop to play). It's horrible it makes me not want to leave the house but we need fresh air. Such a difficult situation for everyone. Stay safe Mary, your videos are helping us all x

I so get what you mean about aloneness which is not the same as being lonely. I also get my energy from my own space (+ the animals of course! ) Thanks for describing that so well and 👏🏼 for your kindness to your neighbour. The little acts of humanity are what count in these difficult days.

Hey Mary! I live outside Houston, and nobody has been staying home here. I mean, traffic isn’t AS BAD as it usually is, but there’s still a ton of people going everywhere! I work at a grocery store, so I’m still going to work. Also, just found out Texas is lifting the stay at home order in a week, which I don’t agree with because our cases are climbing everyday. Love you Mary, stay safe 💜
I love this video! It's like chatting with a friend that you haven't seen for a while and who has been living the same things: staying home, work if you can, take care of your family, neighbours and elderly... I am shocked people aren't staying home where you live. My city looks like a scene from a film as it is empty and silent. I am in the UK and our death rates aren't looking good so we are taking it seriously. It has been so wonderful seeing people pull together. So many volunteer groups have been set up and people are falling over each other to help each other.

I honestly think so many people have discovered another aspect to their personality through the pandemic. I do like people but much prefer my own company. I always find things to do and never get bored. My husband retired same time as pandemic and I never get any time in the house to myself anymore. I love ASMR but you have got the best most relaxing whisper ever! You are clearly a lovely kind person and very insightful. Hey Mary! If you change the settings in canvas you can get emails every time something is posted. I get a ton of emails but I’m notified right away :)

My boyfriend also has to use Canvas for his college courses. He hates it and agrees w you on how poorly structured it is.
inthetearoom yea I use canvas for my college classes and I hate it I am all over the site to find my stuff to work on that day!
UT Austin uses Canvas... Texas A&M uses ecampus.... I’ve never had a problem using ecampus. Therefore, A&M>UT
At my school we call it Can'tvas.
I use canvas and the calendar part shows what your assignments are for all classes for the day it makes my life easier

I’m a pharmacy tech in south west of England and I have to say I have experienced the same thing people are either really nice bringing us chocolates and sweets etc or they’re really really aggressive and rude. Ive been called a C*** and told to F*** off shouted out told that cause I didn’t have hand sanitizer i would cause them to die!!! Literally one extreme to the other!! Thank you Mary I’ve been on the fence about hospital pharmacy cause I hate hate hate community and they say the same over here that it’s different entirely but well worth doing, I think that’s my next port of call when I can. I do so like hearing how things are on the otherside of the pond thanks for another relaxing video 🙂

As a student that’s used canvas for 4 years I have some advice! Lots of teachers don’t properly structure the class so that’s why the to do list is incomplete. I suggest an app called Boost! It’s linked with canvas that sends alerts with weekly lists and daily reminders! It will check off assignments when they are turned in and give 24 hour notice before a due date
One of my life goals is to find a job I actually like going to.

Thank you so much for checking on your elderly neighbor and taking care of her. My grandma and great aunt live an hour away and we can’t see them or check on them, but they’re blessed enough to have church members who are there for them. Your story made me miss them.
I live in NJ and to my shock my fellow new jersians are taking the pandemic seriously. At least from where I’m at they are. Traffic is down and ppl are only going out for essential errands. We have to take this seriously because it’s pretty bad here, we do not have another option. Wishing you well Ms Mary! ❤️

I love this video Mary. You have a kind heart. When you said you were the most lonely was when you were around other people. Me too. Too much "peopling" sucks the energy out of me. I've always thought, "what's wrong with me?" NOTHING. It's a self protective mechanism. But it doesn't mean we don't care about people … I do 'hit and run helping' I connect and care - but I'm in and out if that makes sense. Be well!
Hey! I use canvas at my school and I have some tips that hopefully could help!
First, if you check the calendar on the app, that will have al lot of the information about assignments and pretty much everything.
Second, if you download the canvas app on your phone or any device, you can turn on notifications and you will be notified everytime a teacher edits their homepage, creates new assignments, sends private messages, etc.
Just sign in with you kids information if you want, you can be signed into the canvas app on multiple devices.
Mary- watching your videos in bed at night make my life seem "normal" during this pandemic I'm an essential worker - and still working 2 jobs and I'm also immunocompromised . Life is a little scary right now, but I try to stay positive. Your videos are allowing me to clear my head and relax! I love this video! Glad to hear that you and your family are doing well. Ikr - I hate when people walk to close to me too - like I can hear them right behind me, and if I were to stop they'd crash into me. Drives me bananas! I usually just step aside and let them go through, so I don't have to keep THEIR pace, or worrying about them running into me if I need to stop. 🙄
I totally agree with you!!! I don't get lonely. I can entertain myself just fine. I also enjoy the social distancing and said the same thing about how I wish that would continue.

My wife and i live next to an elderly couple who have animals. Whoever said roosters only crow in the morning must’ve never lived near them. That sucker will just go for 5 minutes at a time at random times in the day. On the bright side, their pheasants do keep the ticks away
Yay I’m so glad you liked my advice about the essential worker. My upstairs neighbor has a subwoofer and I’m an essential worker I hung a letter up on the door and they have stopped blasting music at night it’s been great I’m pulling for you noise at night is just the worst.

Your videos have bee calming my anxiety. I usually swim and hike to keep it down but since lockdown in Scotland it’s got worse since I can’t see my boyfriend and friends and yeah. There’s also a third personality type which is a ambivert. I just learned about this myself recently. You can draw energy from both being around people or being alone. But I suspect maybe this plague is most hardest on those that are extroverts. I’m more introverted myself and I’d think what it would be like to be forced to be around people all day and night indefinitely and it would probably be pretty miserable so I can imagine how tough it must be for extroverts forced to stay inside and isolated when that’s not how they stay energized.
