    The procedure you were describing is called a voiding cystogram. I’m a Radiologic Technologist/CT tech. I worked for ten years at a children’s hospital. I found it surprising how many young girls actually have reflux.
    I really appreciate you taking the time to discuss this. A lot of people are unaware this is a serious condition and can cause severe kidney damage.
    I’m glad your mother was adamant in seeking further treatment!
    As always, thanks for all you do!

    It has always been fascinating to me, how certain things can happen or be said at the perfect time ..that can change life for the better.
    It’s like a miracle butterfly effect type thing. 🦋
    & Oh my goodness, Sling blade is one of my favorite movies ever, I love how the mom Linda says “Well all be dawwwg” 😄
    Also, that’s a cool brain! 🧠

    Hi Mary, Could you make a video talking about your experience becoming/being a mother?

  • @Keke88
    @Keke88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I am a firm believer that people come into and out of our lives for a reason. So many things that happen seem to be more than happenstance. How wonderful this lady met your Mother at the right time to help you. What a wonderful story and I am so glad that you had this corrected at a young age before much worst that could have happened. Thank you for sharing, Nothing like "picking your brain" too. Haaaa!!!

    Whoop, whoop!! Reflux squad unite!!
    While it is in no way fun or exciting, it is nice to find someone who has dealt with the same type of horrific childhood trauma as myself, (and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!) My parents found out when I was about four; I spiked a fever of 105 in the middle of the night and they rushed me into the ER. Long story short, my tube just wasn't developed properly. And so days before my scheduled surgery, the doctor did a final exam, and the tube--miraculously--had grown to an acceptable size. While I didn't need to have an artificial tube put in, I have been closely monitored my whole life. I have to drink x amount of water daily, can't "hold it" if I have to pee, yada yada yada.
    Thank you for sharing this, Mary. You're the best :)

    This video was so nostalgic for me. My Mom has been in the medical field for over 25 years and I remember one of my first experiences with medical ASMR as a small child was her reading through her textbooks with me at night. Thank you for bringing back those memories! I'm also so grateful to that woman, your Mom, and the doctor who listened. Timing is always a significant thing, and everything happens for a reason! Your life is so precious and so important that a random woman at a playground potentially gave you the opportunity to life your life, raise 2 amazing boys, and bless all of us daily!! 💖

    This is crazy that I am seeing this video. I have suffered for about a year with chronic urinary issues and the doctors can't seem to figure out why. I especially have problems at night when I lay down. Now I have done some reading about this in adults and plan to ask my doctor ASAP!

    Wow! Same thing happened to me at same age! Thank you for uploading this! The procedure wasn’t ever explained to my parents, the closest I was ever told was I had to have my ureters repaired. I still get bladder infections if I’m not careful but not like as a child. They said I may need a cystoscope in the next few years due to scar tissue. At least they put you to sleep now, they didn’t put me under as a 2-3 year old & I remember a nurse in red glasses, much like those Sally Jessie Raphael wears talking me though it. ❤️

    I usually hate whispering but your voice makes me very sleepy. I'm half southern so I love the accent and the south. Y'all got amazing iced tea! I say y'all out of habit because my grandpa is from Virginia and I'm around him a lot and he says y'all. But i have a bladder disorder so I know how you feel as a baby.

    Holy crap ! ! I've never heard of this before . You poor kid! I'm glad you told your story . I'm an herbalist and if someone came to me with this I have a standard formula for UTIs and some immune system building formulas, but herbs couldn't fix this. I'm shocked to find out this is so common. I'm grateful for modern medicine even though I work with traditional herbal remedies. Everything has it's value to contribute . I'm so glad you're well. Blessed be.
