Mary, is it possible that the defrost drain is clogged?
SIDE-BY-SIDE REFRIGERATOR - WATER ON FLOOR, REPAIRING A CLOGGED DEFROST DRAIN
Refrigerators with automatic defrost have a drain tube that carries water from the defrost cycle to a fixed drain pan under the refrigerator.
If water appears on the floor in front of the refrigerator once or twice a day, it could be due to a clog in the defrost drain tube. The usual evidence of a clogged drain in a side-by-side refrigerator is ice under the bottom basket in the freezer compartment, in addition to a puddle of water on the floor.
Flush out the drain hole with a solution of 1 tsp. baking soda and 2 cups of hot tap water in a meat/turkey (bulb) baster. When clear, you will hear water running down into the drain pan below. To prevent this from recurring, pour the solution of 1 tsp baking soda and two cups hot (not boiling) water into the drain opening once or twice a year.
GE Refrigerator Drain Tube Location::
The drain opening on a GE side-by-side refrigerator/freezer is actually on the back wall of the freezer compartment, but the way you access it depends on the model. You may have to unscrew a panel from the interior back wall of the freezer, or you may have to remove a panel from the back of the appliance. If you have to work behind the refrigerator, be sure to unplug it first.
Kenmore Refrigerator Defrost Drain Location:
You generally can find the drain hole inside the freezer compartment of Kenmore refrigerators. If you don’t see one when you open the door, it may be under a floor panel, which may be frozen in place. Remove the items from the floor of the refrigerator, and pry up the panel with a flat-head screwdriver to uncover the drain opening.
Frigidaire Drain Location:
On Frigidaire models, the drain opening is more likely to be directly under the evaporative coils, and you have to access it from the back of the appliance. Don’t forget to unplug the refrigerator; then unscrew and remove the back panel to reveal the coils. The drain may be hard to see, especially if the coils are frozen over, but it’s there.
Whirlpool Drain Location
:
If your Whirlpool refrigerator drain tube is clogged, you’ll probably have to access it from behind the appliance. Don’t be daunted by the jumble of tubes and wires you’ll see when you remove the evaporator coil panel. It’s right there under the evaporator coil.
We had this problem. Water would leak every so often and when it got bad, we had an ice shelf in the bottom of our freezer. My husband took a hammer to the ice and fixed the defrost drain and coil.

Tilting your refrigerator is actually bad for it. Sounds like the guy from "F-lowes" was telling you a lie hoping you'd break it and have to buy a new one.
As for the plug, use a heat gun and pull all your lower drawers out. A heat gun, will melt the dirty ice around the drain in less than 5 minutes. I just had mine done. You could use a hair dryer but it would take hours.

Hi. Be careful about water under cabinets and tile, if left wet to long you could get mold forming. Make sure you dry the area completely before installing your new fridge, you can mix Clorox and water at a 10 to 1 ratio Clorox at 10% ratio will kill off mold. You might want to spray some around just to be safe. Good luck with your refrigerator! 👍

Goodwill, any thrift store, yard sales are my favorite past times. I remember going to Goodwill before they commercialized (nearly 30 year's now) when prices were much lower. Amvets was a favorite too. I truly enjoy your video's of all your thrifty finds

I live near Asheville NC and have checked every goodwill I can find trying so hard to find a dang jewelry bag like the ones you find!! The fact that your goodwill had 12 is mind blowing to me!! My 13 yr old daughter, myself and my mom are dying to find one. At least I get to enjoy watching you go through them!!

Call me weird but I love hearing about the “refrigerator saga”. This is so something that would happen to me and has happened in my life. So that was really a blessing in disguise that quote that place” did not deliver your refrigerator. And another good thing is, you are going to get a new fridge! Mary your dad sounds just like my late father he was a very clever man could do any job electrical carpentry painting etc he was always the first person I called if I had problems in the house (like you I was a single mum) and since he passed away five years ago I miss him so much he had a good sense of humour and would talk about all subjects treasure your dad while you have him he sounds like a gem xxxx

Oh my, Mary I just love your videos. My sister-in-law is having a very similar issue with “Flowes” only it is with getting a garage door that she hypothetically ordered, lol!
My mom had the exact same thing wrong with her refrigerator. Exactly to a T! The drain line was clogged for the auto defrost in the freezer so when the freezer would defrost it wouldn’t be able to drain into the pan below and leak all over inside the freezer side and the floor. Maybe your dad could look at that. Hope that helps and saves you from having to buy another fridge.
I wish so bad I could buy bags of jewelry like that around here. I finally found one that sells vases packed full for $19.00 and I bought 2 of them .. I love unpacking them and finding treasures.

I hypothetically love these videos.
It might be freezing over, then defrosting. My husband found a fix where you put a wire down the drain hole area (You Tube video) and it will help to stop the freezing over because it will allow it to drain normally. The evaporative thing on the bottom will allow it to evaporate normally. You will have to empty out the freezer and pull the back plate out to get to the drain hole area. My husband says some refrigerators are just designed poorly. It did do a pretty good job on our garage Frigidaire (bad designed one) and fixed our Kenmore upright freezer.
My fridge is also leaking and big icebergs are appearing on back inside so there's puddles in my fridge too. I wish we had good will here. This is very relaxing. 💜 I love your accent so comforting to me. Thank you. 👏
A few years back , my fridge did the same and it was a side by side as well. It was left at my house so I’m not sure how old. It did have the water and ice in the door. Anyways water was on the floor we tried cleaning it out like you said. My father In law said the fan in the freezer was going out I think Is what he said. But to check to make sure the drain thing wasn’t clogged ? I guess sludge can get in there idk but it wasn’t. So we continued to clean up the water while we shopped around. Then the motor went out completely so we ordered one from sears and it took 3 weeks to get here what a nightmare. 3 small kids no fridge. I borrowed a mini fridge from someone. lol then the guys who delivered the fridge scratched the front of it while going through my front door. And tried to not say anything ! They damaged my front door as well as bent my screen door back. I asked if we needed to take the doors off for them he said no 🤦🏼♀️. So we contacted sears and said we needed a refund we didn’t want to deal with them. Come get the fridge and give us our money back. Also took pics of my front door and screen door and they never got back with us over it. I had to buy a new screen door because of them. And my front door is still scratched but it’s not in the budget right now. So I’ll deal with that later. It’s been almost 4 years ago. I HATE buying furniture appliances and cars anymore. I think next time I will go to a local store as well. Thanks for your story Mary I hope they find a great refrigerator for you and your floor isn’t damaged.

Mary, I checked the refrigerators/freezers for some friends while they were out of town, as well as taking care of their plants, pool and mail. The husband fishes a lot, hunts a little and loves beer so they have 6 fridges and freezers (one was a refrigerated wine cabinet...fun friends!). I just made sure none had lost power and the temp was a certain range for the wine. So I don’t think it’s weird at all to ask your cat person to check your refrigerator too. :- )

Hi hon. You look beautiful with your new jewerly and sweater.... I understand completely about dealing with issues on a house. Every house I’ve had including the one I’m in now I’ve had issues with leaks, mold etc... the first house started leaving mildew in the same spots and lines from u dear the fridge. They didn’t do the sewer drainage test the first time like they should have .. they replaced the wood and floor. Next time it came back again they said I had water coming down a wall n leaking in dining room so I had to have a new patio cover completely put on. Well. The Millie came back again in the same line formation on floor and they finally did the test from the front if the house to the back. The house was on a concrete slab, all brick. The third time it showed there was 19 feet of rusted out sewer pipe underneath the concrete concrete slab. They had to pull everything out of Laundry room, dining room and kitchen .. then jackhammer about 4 feet down at least and 19 feet long into the dining room. It was a disaster!! I couldn’t handle the jackhammer. I had to go outside or leave the house... it was terrible!!!! It sounds like you have some good folks you’re working with now!!!!! TFS this video hon.

Your dad sound like my grandpa 😂 no one could hold him down. He was a handy man and helper all his life on top of his career as a coal miner. He was roofing houses and wiring houses until he couldn't climb a ladder. Even then he was running around working for people just to help them out. I miss him every day !! I take care of his wife, my grandma now and think of him often! He had his hands full with her. Bless their hearts and love them.

Just a thought...if you've shut the water off to the fridge and it's still leaking maybe it's not the fridge that's the problem but the water supply line. Water is still flowing through unregulated and overwhelming the system. Like I said...just a thought.

Temporary solution grab a doggy pee pad or a disposable bed pad and put it under the fridge untill your new fridge comes in that way the water doesn't stay on the floor over night

My parents have the same problem with their freezer! The bottom will be full of ice and water will leak from the fridge and be in a puddle! My parents just put a towel on the floor 😂
kaylee Hypothetically had the same problem...ice build up on the bottom of the freezer and random water on the floor. Was the compressor. Ended up getting a new one.

i'm having the exact same experience with Flowe's trying to get a washing machine! ordered back in may and they keep sending me emails that I need to schedule an appointment which I have done three times. when you finally do get someone to answer the phone they are about as helpful as an egg. anyway, I was told that whirlpool had to cut daily production on washing machines by thousands for a few months due to the COVID-19 virus. i'm not sure if that's what the problem is with your order or not. but he also said that tomorrow production is supposed to go up to normal. i'm still mad that I have to wait until July for my washing machine.
The ones with drawers might be more helpful, if there's one in that size - so it wouldn't hit the wall :)
