Thanks! Eastern used to fly a number of Electras out of La Guardia in the 60's and 70's, and I think they covered extra sections of Eastern's hourly "Shuttle" service from NYC to DC and NYC to Boston with them. Eastern's Shuttle service was very unique in my experience back then. I don't think you needed a reservation, and you could buy your ticket on the plane with cash, credit card, check or traveler's checks. They would come down the aisle with the payment cart shortly after takeoff. The deal was, if you were in line for a Shuttle flight at Eastern's Shuttle terminal on the hour, they would roll out a plane for you, with the first sections typically being jets. I got my one trip on an Electra when I missed the first sections once. Some businessmen behind me on the flight were griping about having to fly in the lower, slower "prop" job, but really on those short hops it didn't make much difference. On the other hand, the Electras had larger more comfortable seats with lots of legroom. They also much larger windows than the jets so I really enjoyed the trip, short as it was.
Hi from Australia ... not sure how you wound up on my suggested play list ... but that was a nice fun informative video ... and I love Gemini Jets ... all the best

Sounds fun. A bit before my time. By the time I was flying in the mid 70's I think all the big prop jobs were retired or on to small airlines.
The shuttle service also flew from Newark Airport!
