Hi @Barrett Podpechan, this is for the Full Time MBA Program, normally it is an on-campus residential program. It's a little confusing because I am taking classes remotely over Zoom my first year due to COVID-19. With COVID-19, all the networking and recruiting fairs were moved online which still provided amble of opportunities to network. Despite being remote, I was able to get to know most of my classmates very well due to the high volume of team projects. I specifically decided on Rice because of the healthcare concentration ( my goal is to continue in the healthcare industry), location next to the Texas Medical Center, small class sizes as well as receiving a scholarship that covers the majority of my tuition. :) On a separate note, I did my undergraduate at UW Foster and thought it was good, but I preferred something different for my MBA. USC I got rejected haha.
@@jessicakent308 oh okay, that makes perfect sense now as it seemed like a FT MBA, just remote. I’m currently waiting to hear back about the online version as I cannot relocate to Houston.
@@barrettpodpechan4556 Fingerscrossed for you!! I hope you get accepted as I'm sure you will love the online program. As FT students the classes are quite similar to the online program class curriculum ❤
@@jessicakent308 Hi Jessica. Excellent video. Quick question. How were you able to get the full scholarship towards MBA program? Secondly, I have just graduated in BBA in Healthcare. What kind of jobs (like job titles etc.) that I should be searching for that would suit my healthcare degree. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
@@kashifkhan1779 Most of the time you are automatically considered for scholarships for the MBA school you apply for :). That is how I was able to receive a scholarship at Rice. I'd recommend starting in "healthcare administration" or "coordinator" roles to get your foot in the door. But do so at a company you see yourself advancing in. Healthcare is quite a broad field so there are roles in healthcare communications, administration, management, as well as technology.
@Frankie A, this is the Full Time in-person residential MBA program. However, due to COVID-19, students had the choice to be either in-person or fully remote online. Since I live in another state, I decided to attend classes via Zoom. Even though classes are recorded and the lectures are made available, students are expected to attend classes at a certain time each week.
Placement and employment rates are good, the Rice network alumni network helps a lot! I don't have the stats for my specific class, but from the class of 2020 ~93% accepted offers post graduation and 100% of MBA who wanted an internship received one. IMO, placement and recruitment opportunities will depend on the industry though. Rice is better at providing recruitment opportunities in Texas and certain job functions/industries (ex. accounting, consulting, finance) than compared to outside Texas/other industries. For myself, since my focus is in healthcare and nonprofits outside of Texas I have to be a little more proactive than others. Here is a great link of the break down of employment stats: business.rice.edu/sites/default/files/uploads/documents/full-time-mba-employment-report.pdf Hopefully this helps!
@@helgakoshy5635 Happy to! I plan to create a video on my own application/stats but it may be bit until I get to it due to starting the second term of the semester. If there are specifics, just let me know and I'm happy to answer any questions in the meantime. I did create a video on applying to MBA so feel free to check that out as well. In terms of the application and scholarships, for Rice all applicants will automatically be considered for merit scholarship, so there is no additional application which is how I recieved my scholarship and Forte Fellowship designation ;)
@@jessicakent308 I have a average GPA so should I concentrate on my volunteering activities and increase that and does volunteering activities matter ? And some extra tips to get into rice and scholarship apart from Gpa and gmat thank u fr answering tho as always ❤️
@@helgakoshy5635 Hi Helga, I noticed for Rice compared to other MBA schools, they focus more on the holistic person (so not just work experiences and GPA, they do care a lot about volunteering). If you have an average GPA, I would say still apply because you can make up for it in your personal statement by connecting your volunteer experiences and work experiences together. For myself, I had considered whether to apply or not because I had a strong GPA, but lacked work experience. I applied with 1 year of work experience early (when the average for is 5.5 years at Rice) and my GRE was just okay. My biggest tip is to essentially craft a story together that combines how your volunteer and/or work experiences have led you to want to pursue an MBA (and what you want to gain from the MBA to help you pursue those goals). I hope that makes sense, for example, I volunteered a lot in physical therapy, a children's hospital, and other youth nonprofits working with those with disabilities. My work experience was working at a nonprofit oncology center, thus my personal statement centered around how all patients have an unspoken connection of barriers as it relates to their diagnosis, but through advance medicine, I saw how it is a tool to help them overcome these barriers. Thus, these experience led me to want to pursue an MBA to bring greater healthcare accessibility to underserved communities and I am applying to Rice because of their healthcare concentration and proximity to the Texas Medical Center. :)
Great video! I’m awaiting MBA admit decision from Rice for fall 2021. This video is very informative and helpful.
Thank you! Best of luck, I hope you get admitted :)
Watching this in 2024! You’re such a positive soul. I’ve just been accepted to Rice!!
Congrats on your acceptance to Rice! That's amazing
What was the software you mentioned in the video as supplement to the lecture? Quiz something? 😋 Thanks!
Coursera! It's free for students
And this is for the MBA@Rice Online program correct? What led you to choose Rice over other programs like USC, UW, etc?

Is this fully online? Are the classes recorded or do you have to attend at certain times like a brick and mortar school?
