    That’s incredible! Quick question, how were you able to apply and get acceptance without having completing all your prereqs? Did the med school not require you to finish them before applying? This is really insightful as I will also be doing a postbac as a nontrad before applying to med school! All the best!

    • @jessicakent308
      @jessicakent308 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good luck with the postbac :). Yes, medical schools do not require you to have all the pre-reqs completed before applying to medical school. You just need to have all the pre-reqs completed prior to enrollment/matriculation (usually around May for most schools I believe). However, having some pre-reqs completed prior to applying is important to show them that you can succeed well in these classes.

    Did you take your pre-requisites at a 4-year college in the evening? Or formal post bac program?

    • @jessicakent308
      @jessicakent308 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did not do a formal post bacc program. I ended up taking the pre-reqs at various 4-year colleges and some community colleges in the area (sometimes up to an hour away) so that it would work around my work schedule. Yes they were in the evening. Some of the classes were hybrid with lectures online and only lab inperson in the evenings. The colleges I took the classes at were by no means large universities. I personally feel that it is okay to take the pre-reqs at a community college or 4-year college and not necessarily a big university such as UW-Madison or the University of Washington or UCLA per say as long as you had an undergraduate degree at a well-established university to prove that you can handle tough courses.

    • @jessicakent308
      @jessicakent308 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure, but take it with a grain of salt as I scored pretty much similar to my first practice exam and the real exam. I would do the AAMC CARS question bank or Jack Westin, I felt like those were most helpful. With each sentence, as I read I would summarize back the gist of the main point of the sentence. This helped me get a full picture of what was happening as I read and actively recalled the passage. Sometimes with questions, it's more about excluding which answer is wrong and then selecting whichever one was left, if I got stuck on a question. I know it's easy to highlight everything in the passage but try to be selective on what you highlight, such as key words or main points (opinions, events, etc) in the passage.

Especially for biology, Kaplan broke it down enough for me to understand things. Princeton Review was best for General Chem and Physics. For the psychology/sociology, the 300-page document from MCATbros was amazing (I studied this in 3 weeks and did just fine). Hope this helps!

      Really, y'all know about her Too? I even thought I was the only one she has helped walk through the fears and falls of MCAT Exam, Mrs ELISABETH has brought me out of the trenches and to a better living, I encourage repeat test taker to work with her.

    Congratulations on graduating with an MBA. What makes you wanna switch career? Are u going for an MD?

      Yes an MD! I've always thought about doing medicine but switching careers seemed too daughting. I thought a healthcare focused MBA would satisfy my love for medicine but what I missed most was working with patients. I hope to use my MBA and MD together in the future
