    What a channel. I love those old engines and commercials. I have a blast showing my 12 year old how stuff was built in the past. Now we are a throw it away society. If it does not work crush it or trash it. We are looking for older vehicles all the time to save them for the scrap yard. Keep up the great work. Thank you

    Drove the missile emplacers when I was in the USAF in Montana and Wyoming, hauling the solid fuel missile stages of the Minuteman II and III ICBM's. Our transporters were built circa 60-62. Four speed, air shifted main, three speed aux box. Grossed out in the neighborhood of 170K with a MMIII on board. IF the mechanics had tuned it right, got the carburetors adjusted just right, we MIGHT keep 'em running for ten hours. The plugs fouled real bad, they'd backfire and bark, lot of time on the side of the road waiting for a replacement tractor. Still, nothin' sounds like a V12... Eventually, after 20 years or so, they replaced the things with a new tractor w/600 hp diesel with an automatic that would actually do the speed limit!

      @PistonAvatarGuy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@frigglebiscuit7484 A) The "migrant" issue isn't even remotely related to the way the economic systems in those countries work. The immigration problem was actually created by people who were trying to cause the "welfare state" in those countries to collapse, but they don't even understand the first thing about how that system works. The problem also exists in the US (I live in a state which borders Mexico) and there are people who want to make it worse.
      B) Those taxes cover things which we have to pay for out of pocket and drastically reduce the financial burden on the working class, that's why those countries are so prosperous. For example: Adopting a single payer healthcare system in the US would save the American people hundreds of BILLIONS every year.

The US Army had a 100 ton tank built in the 50s with an 1100 cubic inch v8 gasoline engine. Some old railroad switch engines had gasoline motors. Everyone now thinks only diesels are for heavy haul. Gasoline engines can be heavy haulers too. Not to be forgotten. Nice job though. You're doing a good job. Thanks for the video.

    No matter how you go with it, that's gonna be a lotta hp and torque. And I have had several thoughts. Of course they're all insane but it's a lot of fun just to think about how you might go on this project. Loved the Chevy commercial. Can't wait to see what you do next! Preciate cha!

    I like the early 50's Chevy's a lot better than the tri 5's. My dream is to have one someday. About 7 years ago I passed on a '53 for $3000 and I've been kicking myself since. It was in good shape. I've also got a heart throb for the 1958 Chevy Impala. Something about those duel headlights.......

    Build a drive able frame for both, but have only one running. I think that's what Big Daddy Roth did on the Mysterion.

    I still think it would be really cool to have someone do a porting job on a set of heads, and maybe find someone who can put a custom grind on the cam...you'd probably have a world-unique engine

    You have to admire a guy who can look at just about anything and see a project! My parents' first new car was a '53 Chevy Bel Air with Powerglide. I can still remember lying on the back seat at night as we drove home from my grandparents', listening to that 6 cyl. purr.

    Woohoo I can't wait. The only thing I love better than watching you guys get this old iron freed up and whirling is having my hands on it myself!
    I just had my shoulder worked on the one I use for everything this morning so it looks like I'm going to have a lot of extra time to check in on everyone this Winter.

    • @1963impala2drWaylonWire
      @1963impala2drWaylonWire  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nope! .. cubic inch wise.. it is the equivalent of two 351's but it is one block with 4 heads.. produced between 1960 and 66.. many were used to power the old seagraves fire trucks. they were also used in the cabover GMC semi trucks of that era as well.. thanks for watching

      of course you are correct..... i know the new technology is worlds ahead but.. i love tinkering with this old iron.. its not for everyone.. but it brings back memories of working with my Dad on old cars back in the 60s.... makes me sad that so many young guys will never learn how to set points and dwell.. thanks for watching my video.. I can appreciate different points of view :)
