- Hey All,
Today I unboxed some Sparkling Gourami that I ordered online.
These are a super cool nano fish, anabantoid, bubble nest maker with some really striking sparkling colours, as the name would suggest.
Enjoy!

Another fun fact about these guys is that they also make a really cool croaking noise!
Let me know if you would be interested in a video on this when I am able to capture audio of it :)
I would be extremely interested. I'm in the process of establishing an aquarium and am planning to stock it with mostly species of gourami.
Do males and females croak or is it only males? I have five of those fish, but only one croaks
@@lilianubia3648 my understanding is only males 👍
A little late to the party, but just picked up a group of 5 sparkling gouramis today. They're about 3/4", so they have some growing to do.
Beautiful little fish. I love there big blue eyes that you can see from the other side of the room
Awesome thank you for getting them from us
I always feel like these guys are perfect tank mates for pygmy corys, awesome little fish
Pygmy gouramis and pygmy cories, why not 👍
HaHa, I have these guys with pygmy corys and cpd. I love these guys
@@ginafrench9198 hey Gina, can you message me on instagram @youraquamate or email me aquamate6@gmail.com
@@ginafrench9198 great combo
@@aquamate sure, I will email
one of my favorites as well. I have um in a small pond tub.
If course lol another fish we both keep haha
Beautiful fish. Been high up on my list for ages but can't seem to get them around here.
Thats a shame, they are awesome indeed
Noice addition to the inside tank. :)
Thanks for the introduction to these pretty fish.
Any time!
Any fish that eats planaria is a friend of mine! They are gorgeous little fish, on my list of fish to keep
Lol i know! I have a serious planaria problem going on at the moment 😬

These are very personable fish. I love how they are so curious & how they fake each other out. Their blue eyes are amazing and they can certainly hold their own. They are a very easy beautiful fish which eat anything I've given to them. They really like floating plants. Good luck with your new additions. You will love them. Yes, for capturing their croaking.
mission accepted :)
I almost ordered some from Nano Tanks Au last week.
Went with 6 more Borneo suckers instead and the large tool holder with 3 bottle holding holes (Fert, scraps and to plant plants perhaps).
Yeah hindsight being 20/20 probably shouldve gone the larger tools 👍
I had to separate my Sparkling gourami soon as I got it. It kept bothering my honey and pecking my pygmy Corys. Shopkeeper said they would get along with them. Nope! Was only $4. nbd
Good one mate 👍
Thanks TCA 👍
Wow, they're not even the size of the neon tetras. That's crazy.
New to your channel. Surprised you only acclimate to temperature and don’t drip. Everyone’s water is so different.
Depends on the fish and how they got to me. If fish are shipped i prefer to not have the fish in the water once it is exposed to air as the ph sharply drops when the bag is opened 👍
Would 6 of these in a 30 litre / 8 gallon cube be too much. Species-only except for two resident amanos. Great video, hope yours are doing well!
Hi, yeah 6 is too many for a 30 L id say. Maximum 3, maybe 4 with lots of hides and waterchanges
Turn off the light when acclimating 😭
Such a beautiful nano tank. I wanna order a nano tank like that. How many liters is that?
Its about 20L
Do the croaking video
Totally off topic, but is that sword Fern in your filter!?! I have been wondering if ferns would work like house plants growing out of a tank.
Also, my son is setting up a 20g rimless tank and thinking about either Sparkling Gouramis or possibly Moonlight Gouramis. Do you need a very established tank, or would a cycled, but newly established tank be ok as long as it's heavily planted?
Its just poking through the lid with the roots in the water, works fine 😄
@@BlakesAquatics that's what it looked like! I'm so excited ferns can be grown in tank like pothos etc! I've never seen anyone use anything besides pothos type house plants or peace lilies. So cool!! 🙏✌️
i kept these guys for ages until i lost them all :(. Just be careful with aggression with these guys, i found i would loose the weakest one, every month or two! You may need to seperate them out 🤔🤔
Ok nice tip, luckily i have plenty of planaria tanks at the moment i want to move them too lol
Yo how big was the tank
A bit too many and too large fish for this tiny tank...
Did they eat your neocaridina shrimp? How big is that tank?
How can u tell the male from female?
👍👍
Blake how much of a disaster would it be keeping these guys in a female betta sorority? 5 betta with ember tetra and a 5 endler. Heavily planted with rocks and driftwood. 33g tank. Tia.
Theyre very timid and I think they would be stressed having bettas around
Do they eat shrimp and fry ?
Yeah they do unfortunately in my experience. Ive tested it a few times
Blake's Aquatics like viciously ? Or occasionally? Don’t they stay more towards the top
I had some just murder 20 shrimp in a day, not even to eat just to kill 🤷♂️
Blake's Aquatics dang bummer
Thanks for this video 👍 What size is this tank? I'm about to buy a small tank and am looking for stocking ideas.
Its 20L, 5 gal. These will work in nano tanks for sure 👍
@@BlakesAquatics awesome, thank you 👍 I've just ordered the Aqua One Focus 36 and am undecided what to put in it. I'm leaning towards a planted tank with endlers and maybe some pygmy corydoras. I'm a total beginner and learning heaps so that might still change as I learn more. It's great to see Australian aquarium videos 🙂
Thanks im glad i could help :)
@@BlakesAquatics do you think neon tetras would work in a 36L tank and suit a beginner or are they tricky?
@@PsychSavvy they are prone to getting diseases. I think endlers are a better beginner option
How are they with your shrimps? Was thinking of getting some
They love killing shrimp unfitunately
How many of these would you recommend for a ten gallon tank?
6 would be a good amount I think.
