+Knight 211 the people who survived in dr2 are alive but are still in dispair since they had to erase their avatars. so its like the trip never happened exept the others who died in it. the others who died are still dead because their brains shutdown from thinking they're dead.

I second this, go in blind SO MUCH of the magic of this series happens when you go in blind. Ibuki was my favorite too, it was depressing seeing how she died and all but damn the game gets so much better, in plus after Ibuki passed I learned to love Akane and she became one of my favorite characters in the game. ❤️

Out of curiosity, does that mean you've never played the games at all? Because if so, I highly recommend giving them a try, even if you already know the spoilers. Both Danganronpa 1 and 2 (along with the game Ultra Despair Girls and the light novels Danganronpa Zero and Danganronpa IF) are absolutely fantastic and worth experiencing in your own right. Danganronpa 1 and 2 can be found on Vita and Steam, Ultra Despair Girls is currently on Vita and coming to Steam, Danganronpa IF is included with Danganronpa 2, and Danganronpa Zero can be found translated online. (If you're interested in where just let me know.)
Danganronpa is an absolutely amazing franchise, and I can't recommend trying it for yourself enough. Each of the games were an amazing experience, and I really loved both of the light novels too. The Danganronpa 3 anime is looking pretty amazing so far as well. If you ever want any information on the series at all and/or are interested in the order of the series, (either chronological or the order you should play/watch/read them in; because they definitely aren't the same order) please let me know. I'll do whatever I can to help you out.

The order is if we include the anime which is suppose explain the before and after:
DRP 3 despair arc, DRP zero and many other light novels, DRP 1, DRP another story, DRP 2, DRP 3 future arc. However, the creater stated that anime DRP 3 should be looked at one after the other starting with the future arc then the despair arc. They drop clues and connection through each episode. Therefore, they made the anime with assumption that people played or seen run throughs of the game. This anime was not for fans who just randomly wanted to watch if by chance. ( that is the reason why I think that DP1 the animation was created...to get people interested in the game)

Heard these vids might be good intros to pass along to people, and I have to say you did really well! These must've been a ton of work.
I have to disagree about something in the second trial though: Peko isn't punished just because she's the one who did the act of killing, Monokuma makes it VERY clear that it's because she ISN'T just a tool and obviously is a person who has a will of her own, especially in regards to protecting Fuyuhiko. I think glossing over that takes away some of the messages that chapter was trying to send about those two characters and their relationship.
Not the best trial, but that message was pretty good.

Though I feel duty-bound to say - *play the game*. Even if you know the plot, nothing beats the experience. Getting closer to the characters, rooting for them, feeling the hopelessness ( damn the fourth chapter. Even the music was haunting. I felt like _I'd_ fallen to despair myself) and experiencing the feels. Small details like different dialog when you click on a door to everyone's positions in the FTES which subtly tie into the storyline really makes this game special. Even if it's been a year, or even two...see this game at least once for what it really is.

I was very pleased after watching your Danganronpa videos to catch up on the story to continue watching the anime. Then, I recognized your name and that I'd watched your Final Fantasy videos years back. I love the quality of your work and can't wait to see more!
Cool. I gave up on 2 due to a busy life and bought the trilogy on steam. So this is a good way to keep me up to date.
Theres so many things that could happen at the end of game, the possibilities all remain out there until the author decide to do anything with it. The scene at the end of the game shows the cast of the first game (kirigiri, naegi, byakuya*the real one) leaving the island. If you want to know what they are leaving to do go watch the danganronpa 3 anime.
The point is they left behind the survivors of the second game's cast. At the end, hinata was showed to have short hair looking at the boat leaving, this could imply that he got his memories back, but it could also mean that he just *appeared* to be that way FAKING his attitude and personality just to have naegi and the others leave him alone to do WHATEVER he wants. Please remember that inside his head, the academy changed him into Kamukura Izuru, "The ultimate hope" with talents that could change the world by himself, and he is also changed into the "Ultimate Despair". The truth to this is any one's guess, i don't know whether we will get more information on this topic as the 3rd game seams to be focussed on some other school entirely, we'll just have to see.
*Also the character who died in the second game is not dead, this is a fact proven by the game itself, when naegi byakuya and kirigiri were leaving, they mentioned something along the lines of "waking up their friends" "though the possibility are almost 0%", they are in like a coma state. To me i believe that they could be saved if it's not entirely impossible like truly reving the dead in real life, since it's only their minds that was messed with. Maybe hinata might have a talent involving something with computer programming and medical expertise, who knows, im just wishing that the character comes back for a happy ending. The only sad truth for me was that Chiaki turned out to be an NPC, :( Was banking on her becoming the waifu of this game (well she was in a sense). Oh well just gotta deal with it in island mode

+Cola Dad yah I heard, 2 months ago that info wasn't dropped, I think it's a good idea. Cause they can't really do much in a game with the lore they have and they built up the final. So an anime (or movie) is the smartest direction while making something fresh and new with nothing to go on in the new game is seriously the best idea. I'm just happy this series knows what it's doing and getting how it can keep it good and fresh (unlike other series *cough* Ace attorney *cough*). Plus can't wait for new gameplay features.

Crazyjc 16 i watched the first games anime adaptation but didnt play the game so i wouldnt know how rushed it was and frankly i dont care becouse the ending was the same, and i just finished the second game and i kinda understood the ending to it but also kinda didnt understand it so when i heard there was going to be a new danganronpa anime i thought it was going to be for the second game but what i discovered was the third danganronpa. Well im mostly dissapoint in the fact that i idnt understand the second games ending, buuuut thats fixable.
I have a question, didn't Peko kill Koizumi on her own? I remember Kuzuryuu telling her she shouldn't meddle in his affairs and that she was free to have her own choices in the island as the rest of the students. That's why she was judged, because he denied having her as a tool and he denied using her.

Quick note: since this is a pretty long comment, I'm going to include a TL;DR at the bottom. I still recommend reading the following three sentences before reading the TL;DR though.
Er... I don't know how to break this to you, but if you're talking about the Despair arc of the Danganronpa 3 anime, it's actually a prequel to everything in the series. Which means that it happened far before Danganronpa 2, which is the current next to last entry in the series. And that means we still don't know if any of the Remnants of Despair besides the 5 at the end of Danganronpa 2 were able to survive or not. If you're interested, the chronological order goes something like the following. Just keep in mind, you should ABSOLUTELY NOT play/read/watch the series in this order. It will spoil plot points left and right and greatly diminish your enjoyment of the series. The best order to experience the Danganronpa franchise is essentially the release order. Now here comes the timeline of the games:
1.) Danganronpa 3: Despair Side [Anime]
2.) Danganronpa Zero [Light Novel] (Parts of Danganronpa Zero will likely coincide with parts of Danganronpa 3: Despair Side as well, although we don't know that for sure yet.)
3.) Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc [Video Game]
3.5.) Danganronpa IF [Light Novel] (Technically this is a what if scenario of Danganronpa 1. It's basically what would happen if Makoto got his memories back before the killings began, and it involves Mukuro Ikusaba, Junko's sister, being a badass. I recommend either reading it as it comes with Danganronpa 2 or watching a playthrough of it on TH-cam because it doesn't take all that time to complete. It's even shorter than Danganronpa Zero which was already fairly short compared to the games and anime.)
4.) Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls [Video Game] (This is kind of like Danganronpa 1.5 as it happens between games 1 and 2. It follows Makoto's sister and Toko/Genocider Sho, has possibly the darkest story of anything Danganronpa related, and while not being the best third person shooter I've ever played was still a hell of a lot of fun with a great story. I recommend playing it if you get the chance. It's currently on Vita and it's coming to Steam later this year if I remember correctly. However if you do plan to play it, then again release order is the best way. Which means you shouldn't play it until after completing the first two games.)
5.) Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Academy [Video Game]
6.) Danganronpa 3: Future Side [Anime]
Also, there's a Danganronpa 3 video game coming out, but it seems to be a fresh start for the series and has nothing to do with the "Hope's Peak Arc" of Danganronpa. Also, if anyone is interested in the play order, I've included it at the end of my incredibly long comment.
TL;DR: The Danganronpa 3 anime that includes all of the characters from the second game is a prequel to the entire series. I'm going to include the chronological timeline for the series and the release order for the series after the next couple sentences. Just know that you should play/read/watch the Danganronpa series in essentially the release order and not chronological order. Unlike some franchises which can be viewed in any order, Danganronpa more or less requires going through it in more or less the release order as just about every entry released after the one before it will spoil and call back to the previous entries like crazy. So you will unfortunately lose a lot by not going through the franchise in the order. (I say unfortunately because it makes the franchise really hard to get into for newcomers. Especially those only interested in either anime or video games.) And on that note, here is the in universe timeline of the series and the play order for the main/"most important" entries in the series.
Chronological order: (Seriously, please don't go through the games in this order. I know I'm probably getting annoying by this point, and I honestly apologize for that. But you'll do yourself a huge disservice by going through Danganronpa in this order.) Danganronpa 3: Despair Side -> Danganronpa Zero -> Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc/Danganronpa IF -> Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls -> Danganronpa 2 -> Danganronpa 3: Future Side
Play Order: Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc -> Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Academy -> Danganronpa IF (since it's included with the second game) -> Danganronpa Zero -> Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls -> Ultra Despair Hagakure (if you want to read this short novel, it's included with DAE:UDG) -> Danganronpa 3 anime
Quick note for the Danganronpa 3 anime: you should watch episodes for each series one after the other. The reason that both are airing at the same time is presumably so the Danganronpa creators can do some crazy things with the format. So you should watch it like this: Future Side episode 1 -> Despair Side episode 1 -> Future Side episode 2, and so on and so forth.
P.S. I'm sorry that my comment ended up being so long. I really like this series and I really like writing. Unfortunately, I also get really carried away when I write too... I at least hope that this was helpful to anyone reading it who may not be very familiar with the series before now but is interested in giving it a try. It's one of my favorite multimedia franchises of all time, and it really has some great characters and great stories all throughout it. It's also just a lot of fun and definitely worth your time.

I watched the anime and my sister bought the 2nd game so I watched her like sometimes so I do like each character and then we binge watched hope and despair arc together and now shes getting the 3rd game but I cant watch so I'm just gonna get myself caught up with all the lore before watching a playthrough for the 3rd game lol

Ok, scrap the Animation of DR1 and play the original game. The continue to SDR2 (the game, not this summary), then DRAE (no pc version but only PSVita; so preferably watch let's plays), then DR0 (prequel to DR1 and semi sequel to DR3 Side despair. THEN end the trilogy with the anime.
God you just ruined most of the awesomeness of this franchise by NOT playing the canon games before watching the concluding anime. But hey, give it a try.

Speedwagon best grill The one flaw with your way of enjoying the franchise is that it assumes you found the game before the anime and that you'll play the game before watching the anime, even though you'll only find out about the game if you do some research on it if you found the anime first. The bad part about that is it'll be very easy to spoil parts of the franchise by doing research on it to find the proper order of enjoying it. That's assuming you even do research which most people won't.
