    I WANNA SEE IT! Stick at it man, this is one of those rare gems that are worth saving. The Evo will definitely be getting more views as it's got a bigger community, but with the legnum you'll have the loyal backing of a niche community which I think is worth its weight in gold from a TH-cam persepctive

    Please, keep going, I'm currently trying to buy a Legnum VR4 as well and honestly this is the only channel that I found in English that can help me. I subscribed because of this build.

    THE LEGNUM HAS BEEN SOLD!!!
    I've just seen it crop up on a Legnum Facebook page that I follow (I have a legnum myself) and it's the exact same car.
    So evidently since this video was published its changed hands once or twice, maybe more... and its still smoking

    I'd like to see the repairs for the headgaskets ..
    Keep doing the VR4 videos ...there's almost none on TH-cam

  • @chasroberts3613
    @chasroberts3613 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would love to see at least what's wrong with it but you are correct, it will cost thousands and the car or motor will never "trend" on TH-cam. Up side, if you did fix it
    you will have a very unique car.

      I think that if someone did it, a strip down and rebuild, there would be a few followers.
      I'm keen to see how it's done as that is where I am heading with mine. I have no mechanical.sense whatsoever.
      But I will give shit a go.

    I know the vids are doing poorly on your channel, but you have the entire audience of english speaking legnum owners, this is the only channel incan understand that makes vids about the car i just bought, and personally i think the uniqueness of it makes it way cooler than an evo X, although thats not a popular opinion. Id love to see it continue, and i think the car is well worth figuring out!

    It looks like Legnum has a great problems with cooling system that's why it was overheated previously and the flat surface of cylinder head become bent or it could be even a crack in a head.
    Also I've heard that knocking noise of an engine which sounds like a piston rocking inside in a cylinder, also due to overheat piston could stuck (or detone was high) and break it's grooves what can cause such an oil consumption. I think you should do air leak test first of all and than compression test. Or just supply 5-6 bars of air (you can make an adapter from old spark plug) to each cylinder at the phase of closed intake and exhaust valves. Problem with piston rings, you will hear air from oil filling, problem with head gasket you'll see bubbles in radiator. If problems with valves, air will come out from exhaust pipe or intake. During this test crankshaft should be fixed firmly.
    And really do not give up!!! Mitsubishi, old Mitsubishi cars are very good for restoration and repair, unlike modern cars that are designed for 50k miles... Modern crap

    @marksanne7565 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Would be great to see a follow up video with a test kit to determine if the coolant and oil are mixing plus doing a compression test to get a good overal Idea of what's happening. If headgasket then again it would be so good to see that done that here on the channel!

    Set aside and get evo done and later down the road return I have a car siting to the side with a head gasket failure and eventually we’re gonna fix to be a daily. But if it’s not helping channel from that point of view I would say evo is always gonna get more views because the evo community is huge and I know I watch evo videos none stop when I’m going to bed when I sleep but either way I love your content. Kinda wish you would’ve found a cheap bmw e36 or somthing I bet that community is just as large as evo but either way I’ll always watch your videos have a great day. It’s your channel at the end of the day do whatever works for you. Evo content when tuned is gonna be nuts. I predict a big turn out for thoses videos and I get it’s not cheap to build evos but damn do they make for good content. I wonder what twin bigger turbos on that would be like lol. Very nice looking car. Super JDM

    It does look like the head gasket has gone. I'm no expert but if the turbo seal was an issue I've heared of the cats getting full of oil and it will still smoke even when you've fixed the problem. Not sure if you can flush the cat out or just wait untill it burns out

    Not good mate, probably air bubble for over heating. Take it for a good drive to get exhaust hot if water level drops you know your burning it. Rebuilt time, pass it on, you have a class evo to play with.

    I appreciate how you feel, if it is just the head gasket then for you that's not to difficult, but if it turns out not to be, how deep do you want to travel down that rabbit hole ?

    • @rowanlewisuk
      @rowanlewisuk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly my thoughts it not as simple as changing the headgasket it will be much more work. Assuming everything goes smooth its going to cost around £900 to do the work in parts alone. If its not that or something goes wrong thats alot of money

  • @Winningpk3
    @Winningpk3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I totally understand your point about poor views and a lot to take on. However there's very few videos about legnums around and It would be interesting to at least find out what the problem was. I find it very odd how dead the legnum community is, it looked like it was busier in the past looking at the forums.
    Do you reckon there will be a resurgence of interest in these beasts or are they just to niche?

    • @rowanlewisuk
      @rowanlewisuk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a resurgence will be difficult because there aren’t any left in the UK. Someone told me there are just 21 on the road

    • @rowanlewisuk
      @rowanlewisuk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianturbo6201 worked it out around £1000 to do it properly in parts alone assuming all goes smooth

    Head gasket shouldn't be expensive?

    • @rowanlewisuk
      @rowanlewisuk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gasket set, two heads to skim, head studs and timing belt kit it quickly adds up. £950 minimum if it all goes smooth not including water pump etc

    • @ianturbo6201
      @ianturbo6201 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its almost 200 quid belt pulleys and water pump . If you can do it then go for it .

    • @masterblaster20006
      @masterblaster20006 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nearly £400 of parts from viamoto.co.uk
      £145 more if you add a radiator too
      Plus head skimming etc
      If anyone is wanting to keep the car long term than a worthwhile investment.
      But this car has already been sold on
