      I dont either. Listen even nissans crap cvt we own one of them its not that bad i just dont trust it to last 500,000 miles. I think the car will make it to 100,000. Beyond possibly. Although ive seen some people take some jumk cars pretty far i kean listen their is still model t rolling around they wouldnt be here today without spending some money. Its a tough game today you look at the nissan is has a bad trans who knows how long it lasts bitnits also a naturally aspirated 4 banger so you never know how things work out. And it also depends on what the budget youre working with. Every car in my house has different amounts of money we are willing to throw at them so sometimes it makes sense. In one car a trans job might not he that bad of a job compared to what it would cost to deal with something like an f150 ten speed. I like affordable hondas and toyotas but these days im less impressed because the various different additions over the years and regulations I think it has make the vehicles cost more but have a lower average quality. We used to have an f150 and thatnthing was impressive in some ways but dissapointed me in others. Same with the hondas and toyotas. Even toyotas i can show you deep in its loins the spots toyota is scared of you finding out about. No vehicle is perfect. I have a motorcycle endorsement so ill usually buy a motorcycle because to me things like kawasaki klx300 gives a lot more oppprtunities in terms of howni spend my free time inbetween tasks on the daily.

    A little minor addition
    Honda's eCVT isn't actually a transmission, there's no gearbox nor belt, it is actually, JUST the electric motor
    The gas/petroleum engine only connects to the wheels via 6th gear at very rare instances (usually highway speeds)
    So the electric motor isn't really there to "boost" it, it's doing the bulk of the driving!

      There is a good video online where someone takes apart the entire "transmission" housing the electric motors, rather interesting.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      The engine mostly acts as a generator to recharge the battery pack. The engine is not directly connected to the wheels 95% of the time. There are 2 clutch packs that CAN connect the engine to the wheels in more specialty situations, either at very low speed for added torque, or at higher highway speeds for added power/speed. Most of the time it's the main electric 180 HP Drive Motor that is driving the wheels directly. Honda calls it an E-CVT, just for marketing so as to not overly confuse the customer. It's not an actual CVT however, there are no belts or pulleys. Which is why the car feels so much more responsive and quick than something like the Rav4. In a Rav4 all power (gas and electric) flows through a regular belt and pulley CVT. Nothing is directly linked to the wheels like the Honda.

    2015 Honda Cr-V Ex that I THANKFULLY bought used with 65K miles pre pandemic for $13k. Ticked over 112K miles this week and only changed fluids, oil and tires. I can sell it for more than I paid with the additional 45K miles I put on it in today's market. Honda CVTs are another breed. I was a little hesitant at first, but I change the transmission fluid every 30k and it is humming along smoothly. I have seen some for sale with 280K miles on them and still asking $10k. The things I find annoying with the new Honda CRV hybrid is that progress is sometimes regressive:
    1. No spare tire. I’ve owned 4 Honda CRVs & they all had a flat tire at least once where the spare tire saved a lot of time & added safety. Why should an SUV lack a spare tire? Safety issue.
    2. The rear seats self fold with the pull of a single handle. Done away with the new hybrid.
    3. No fog lights like my 2012 CRV. This helped by minimizing tunnel illumination on unlit roads. It’s nice to better visualize the edge of the road, another safety issue.
    4. I wish they would return with the Honda CRV picnic table. This would cause a lot of jaw dropping at picnics & Honda got some free advertising.

I got some prices to buy it out and I’m underwater on the thing. Do you think it’s worth hanging on to because of the discontinued powertrain?
