That’s a great “minimal” camping set up. I love how you used the cot for a platform and created storage space underneath it. I have a slightly older Outback that I use as our family roadtrip and camping vehicle. These are surprisingly capable cars off road for AWD. X-Mode works pretty well in place of real lockers or part-time 4wd. I know you’re not going to build this car out but if you have the resources I would strongly suggest you at least change those stock tires for a more aggressive all-terrain tire (Copper AT# 4s or BFG ATKO3s). There is no bigger performance improvement you can make on these cars than to give them proper off road tires! You will get MUCH better performance (and safety) in wet or snowy conditions on-road and much better traction in sand, dirt, mud etc off road. And you can size them up about 1" for a little more ground clearance. Cheers!

One piece of kit I always carry is a set of ice spikes. Invaluable for waterfalls, streams and sea shores.

Hi Adrian, congrats on your new car, I like the name MANOLO. It looks like you are well prepared and well stocked up on all the essentials. Enjoy the new experience and we will see you on your next Journey. Thanks for sharing ☺️

I built out my 22 outback for trips and love it. I did remove the longer/passenger side of the seat though, to get the sleeping area lower. If you wanted more headroom you could probably have a hardware store cut a piece of 3/4in plywood that’s 26in wide and as long as you need. And that blanket uses a lot less power than mine, think mine uses 45 watts… will have to look into that.

The camping bed inside the car is a great idea!

A cool setup, my only concern is having fluids on top of your battery. That seems to be asking for trouble?

Very nice set-up derived from so many road trips. Do you ever see yourself getting or wanting a small car refrigerator?

Thanks for sharing this! I've been thinking about outfitting my car for overnights but the seats don't lay flat. Instead of taking them out, maybe a modified cot setup like you have could work. I have some planning to do now...

Nice setup, purchasing all that you showing us including the car would cost fair bit. Please tell us how long are you planning to stay in the us, at one stage you said that it will last you years and years, love your photography. Travel in good health.

I hope you have your power pack waterproofed for when you’re cooking, etc.
    You’ve told us you’re a bit clumsy ! 😉

This is just something that came to mind, but did you ever think of removing the passenger seat? Maybe you could build a "temporary" permanent bed with some storage somehow. All the best Adrian.

I had the same idea (removing the pass. seat) for my Crosstrek. But, I was told by Subaru that it is not possible due to the way the wiring works for the air bag inside the seat.

He mentioned that in the video. He said it's a no-build setup and he wouldn't have anywhere to store the seat while he's on the road anyway.

Don't know if you can legaly have one. A hand gun is an important item to have, especially when off the beaten path.
