Well done Craig always enjoy your easy going way of your tutorials. Like you I like to think about composition and shapes in the scene. And that's what you do different from other's. I believe this is your style and a good one too. Regards, Allan.
Great shots as usual, even though you like a joke you never joke around with your photography and obviously put great thought into what you are doing. The great thing about shooting B&W on a digital is as long as you shoot jpeg you can shoot as if you are shooting B&W film, though obviously minus the grain. So you can use your coloured filters etc to enhance the sky and greens.
Lovely images. I'm shooting in Western Cornwall tomorrow and you've inspired me to try mono for the day. I've also got a couple of good compositions that for some reason I do not 100% like - I converted to B&W and hey presto they look great!
very nice video, Craig must remind my wife to book a course with yourself for my birthday, unfortunately, that tree has been vandalised by some idiots who saw fit to wrench it out of the ground.
Great video, Craig and some lovely shots. I particularly like that shot you said didn't work so well and in text said it worked better than you thought. Its probably a good example of how a camera's LCD screen doesn't tell the full story. ;-)
Loved this video, frankly you can get away with murder in black and white as it's not a literal interpretation of the scene , lovely processing in black and white 😀
Excellent video as always Craig. One question I've been meaning to ask you is how do you achieve front to back sharpness with close foreground objects using only f8 most of the time?
wow, great shots ( as always ) . love Your compositions ! I am wondering what lens / film combination did You use for Your last shot ( iphone / hipstamatic ) ?
Another great video Craig, thank you for sharing and giving us some creative ideas, it really is truly appreciated indeed .. One question I do have though, what is the camera system that you are using as I am thinking of changing to a lighter system and couldn't recognise which yours is .. Many thanks ..... Ian
Great video Craig - please keep up the good work. One question: I notice you use two cameras there. Is that simply to save changing lenses in the field?
Hi Craig, I too use Olympus EM5mkii and EM1mk1 but find the results very noisy and grainy even at base iso and wondered where am going wrong, any suggestions would be appreciated. Best Regards, Peter
Good even Craig: with all the talk about full frame bodies producing so much better photos compared to aps-c and micro 4/3 with the full frame having better low light and dynamic range; how have you found your experience using your Olympus? Especailly printing out large format photos, ie 20x30. Thanks
The Olympus system is great. It's low light performance is as good as I need and the dynamic range is controlled with filters, as I have always used. 20x30 size prints are superb
Mostly very light processing, but B&W does allow you to push the boat out a bit more with post-processing. I have post-processing videos on my website within a Beginners Photoshop module
Hi at 11.36 the reflection of the mountain is cut off by the grass in the foreground, would it have been better with a higher view point to get the whole reflection?
An interesting video but too many photographers on TH-cam are resorting to Monochrome in dull conditions....bad light is bad light in colour and/ or monochrome. Would make a refreshing change to see some monochrome images taken in good light worthy of hanging on the wall.
Just love your black and white shots.
Amazing to be fair mate, love the White House with the Hill as the backdrop 📸
Thank you for taking me along on this road trip Craig. I look forward to your vlogs as you talk with me rather than "at" me. Bob
always blown away how you see light and create such perfect shots. purely amazing
Really useful and enjoyable to watch , also shows you can get great images in accessable locations (without having to climb a mountain)
Some really striking captures there! Your videos are a pleasure to watch.
absolutely stunning !

Nice job. Now I know what to look for during cloudy mid-days.
another cracking video craig cheers
Like your videos.. your story telling style... how you arrive to a composition..
Excellent.. !!
Thanks Bhavik
Wonderful pictures and video.Thank you Craig for your work and sharing.
Great video. Wish i had that weather this weekend, trying to find landscapes in the fog was very tough.
Good film. Still to try and do some Black and White photography and after this will give it a go.

I learn and get inspiration whenever watch your videos, keep them up. Cheers !
Very good explanation of what you were trying to do. Thanks much!
That's a very nice tutorial in composition. Many thanks.
Awesome as always. Keep them coming
Thanks for the insights. Never thought about B&W in the viewfinder before. I'd not thought through that the raw files will still be colour. Dohhh!
nice one Craig very informative
Excellent, as ever -informative and enjoyable.
Very interesting. Beautiful photography.
Awesome photography! As well as your video production.
Wonderful Video, Mr. Ansel Roberts :) I just love B&W landscape and you found some really great views and moods for that. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, you're too kind Michael!
Really enjoyed that thanks as always Craig.
your compositional skills are really inspiring!
Nice b&w images. Really nice.
very nice video, Craig must remind my wife to book a course with yourself for my birthday, unfortunately, that tree has been vandalised by some idiots who saw fit to wrench it out of the ground.
One of your best I think Craig, really enjoyed it. I struggle with B&W and I think you may have helped a little. Thank you
Thanks Peter
Very nice shots! I need to process more of my shots in B & W.
Another great video, I have just started to do B&W and this has given me some good tips an inspiration thank you
Great video, Craig and some lovely shots. I particularly like that shot you said didn't work so well and in text said it worked better than you thought. Its probably a good example of how a camera's LCD screen doesn't tell the full story. ;-)
Great video and stunning mono shots
Loved this video, frankly you can get away with murder in black and white as it's not a literal interpretation of the scene , lovely processing in black and white 😀
Very good images, as usual!
Great video, made me decide to go out and shoot some B&W tomorrow.
excellent Mark, hope you get some great results.
great video! Really enjoying your work Craig!
Nice !!
Nice as always. Living in Denmark I envy you (soon time to visit Britain again).
Thanks for this great video.
Brilliant as normal. You changed cameras mid way through?
superbes images
Excellent video as always Craig. One question I've been meaning to ask you is how do you achieve front to back sharpness with close foreground objects using only f8 most of the time?
Ozturk Aker f8 on Micro Four Thirds is equivalent to f16 on full frame. I will go up to f11 if i have a very close foreground subject.
wow, great shots ( as always ) . love Your compositions !
I am wondering what lens / film combination did You use for Your last shot ( iphone / hipstamatic ) ?

Ha, you better watch more of my videos Ian, I mention it in most of them!! But to save you the bother, it's Olympus OMD.
Great video Craig - please keep up the good work. One question: I notice you use two cameras there. Is that simply to save changing lenses in the field?
Yes, when using primes especially, plus the E-P5 is better with long exposures.
Just stumbled upon your video on Landscape photography. How do you take a decision that you have to take an image on black and white ?! Thanks
Very enjoyable. I'm off to the lakes in early May and will try some mono. How do you arrange your hard and soft grads when used together?
Steve Hallam Depends on the situation and subject, but usually hard grad for top half of sky and soft grad lower to blend with the landscape
e6 Vlogs Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try it out.
Hi Craig,
I too use Olympus EM5mkii and EM1mk1 but find the results very noisy and grainy even at base iso and wondered where am going wrong, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sir ,
Nice video :) . Can you help me by telling where was the focus/ DOP (Depth of field) in your first shot with the boat ?
Thank you
One third of the way into the picture, or one third up the frame, it's more of less the same spot.
Thank you sir :)
Good even Craig: with all the talk about full frame bodies producing so much better photos compared to aps-c and micro 4/3 with the full frame having better low light and dynamic range; how have you found your experience using your Olympus? Especailly printing out large format photos, ie 20x30.

Thanks, these new micro 4/3's & aps-c sensors seem to have put a dint into the necessity to purcahse a full frame body.
Great videos can you tell me where you got your L bracket from
It's an RRS one.
Are your photos heavily edited or just lightly touched?
Will you make a video on your editing process?
Mostly very light processing, but B&W does allow you to push the boat out a bit more with post-processing. I have post-processing videos on my website within a Beginners Photoshop module
Hi at 11.36 the reflection of the mountain is cut off by the grass in the foreground, would it have been better with a higher view point to get the whole reflection?
Probably, but only a very tall tripod and step-ladder would allow this (which I did use to carry).
Can u make a Video showing how to deal with Olympus raw files I have problems opening them on my computer
what are you using, mac or windows?
do you have lightroom or did you install the software that came with the camera?
An interesting video but too many photographers on TH-cam are resorting to Monochrome in dull conditions....bad light is bad light in colour and/ or monochrome. Would make a refreshing change to see some monochrome images taken in good light worthy of hanging on the wall.
'.....There's no color in the scene....', mmmm...I beg to differ.....
