Went through the hot damn car wash and sprung a leak. Have the same light and use your hot damn third light gasket genius to fix it. Great vids enjoy em all
Thank you so much! I had ordered a new cargo LED light from ebay but didn't know about the seal issue. I'll install the new light using your method. In fact, my new cargo light looks exactly like yours!
My 2013 ram 1500 light leaked as well. Dealership told me to bring it in, it is a common problem, and they would be happy to charge me a big bag of money to fix. I then climbed into the bed and tightened the screws on it. 2 years later, it’s still tight and so far not leaking. Just had to re-engineer my interior map lights because on my model they were not made to be replaced. They are much brighter now. They don’t flicker anymore. And I made it so I can change the bulbs easy. Dealer wanted to charge me another big bag of money to replace the WHOLE ceiling console. Also there is no “off” on the stupid radio. Not going to worry about that one. I really don’t understand how this thing is so badly engineered. I sometimes wonder if there are any wires attached to anything behind the 4wd knob. I still love my truck though.

If you put that cheap foam on your house window sashes, it deteriorate in one season. Would go with a black rubber M-D marine seal available at Lowe's.

You think this should work on the factory light as well? I need to fix mine today. Ran it through the car wash and had the water spots in the corners of the headliner again. I thought I had fixed the leak a while back when I wet sealed the rear glass, but I was totally wrong.
Nice Vid bro,already replaced my 3rd brake light once now it’s leaking again on my 14’ Ram and also just noticed it leaking on my 5th gen 2020 Ram,crazy they haven’t fixed this problem yet but whatever still love my trucks,gonna try your fix here on my 14’ and might even do it on my 20’ even though it’s still under warranty cuz fuck the dealers who wants to wait on them lol but thanks for the Vid.!!

@Luis Acevedo so now when you go to change a bulb you're going to have to clean up a mess of silicone & reapply. IMO silicone is a poor "last ditch" fix.
I just re-did the seal on my same Recon light for the second time, with silicone first and rtv magic black just now. So sick of re-doing it every few months. I'm gonna do what you did in this video, but that amazon link now has it for almost $4. Lowes has the same thing but a different brand for less so I'm gonna give it whirl. I assume yours is still holding up? Also, are your white LEDs lit when your lights are on? I noticed mine are a while back.
Where at does the leak go in the cab? I have a leak at the overhead console and my 3rd brake light seal looks the same as yours but just wondering why it leaks so far ahead.
Why not just use clear silicon like 99% of other people including the dealer lol. Never leaks again. Nice thick bead all the way around the third brake light and your done and never have to worry again..? Any foam style gasket will leak because it sucks moisture in after time and will drop j side
@@HOTDAMN it is what the memo says from ram. It is the only Way to guarantee it doesn’t leak. If you have to change the bulb it takes 1 minute to take it off. But to each their own. I work at a dealer and have fixed 30 of these in the last 7 years. Not one has came back. 5 have came in to fix it after they “Tryed” their own thing they seen on TH-cam or forum groups.

I re-sealed my stock one, was considering this one but damn having to re-seal a $150 light is crazy. Great vids and channel though!
Yes it sucks to have to re-seal an expensive light. But it’s not the lights fault, it’s one of RAMs engineering flaws.

“Duck” weatherstrip seal. 3/8” wide x 3/16 thick. Lowe’s or Home Depot.

Usually under the driver's side back seat on the Crew Cab.
