So I took a second look, I'm guessing you are based in japan? I'm trying to get on a carrier as a DV. No idea how to get started. Are you serving now? I used to work at MCAS El Toro. It was a shame that the base closed. One more annoying question, what did you shoot the video with?
So do these have a more limited flight envelope or can they go just as hard as the F/A when needed?

I went to the Spirit of St. Louis Airshow where a pair of Growlers from Whidbey Island did a mid-air refueling demo with an MC-130.
Great video. You don't often get a random PLAT launch thrown into something like this, its usually a trap.
As a person who sleeps soundly at night knowing that people are willing to remain diligent and protect my freedom, it helps me get that sleep knowing that the EA-18g and other variants in the F/A-18A/B/C/D/E/F/G line are out there doing their thing.

Fly Navy. I grew up less than two miles south of the Quonset Naval Air Station, Rhode Island. The runway was pointed directly over my home. From F-4 Phantoms , F-14 Tomcats to F-18 Hornets ( Growlers ).

What is the purpose of flying hook down gear up? To make a pass over the carrier to insure extension is only thing i can figure but have no clue.

Much respect for the super hornet and hornets. Not a huge fan of them since they replaced the awesome tomcat but none the less they’re amazing planes and I’ll take them over 35s

Michel Invernoz it’s a combination of GoPros, iPhones, and DSLR cameras. For the most part, footage inside the cockpit is some sort of a GoPro Hero. For the 2020 video I also used a GoPro MAX.

@@eacmdq I honestly can't speak for all the shots, because most of the footage was provided from multiple squadrons. But I usually use my Canon EOS 70D with a 50mm prime lens.

When you have FLIR and formation lights, there is no such thing as IMC lol
All joking aside, remember the Navy have different rules (NATOPS) than the FAA do. Prescribed weather minima for general and commercial aviation pilots isn't going to do Military pilots any good, seeing as their job involves combat.
Everythingman I’m coming from an Army background we never will fly IMC in formation I mean really unless we are filing IFR we avoid clouds like the plague.
