I've accepted the fact that I will never be a fighter pilot, but I am also so thankful that I am born in an era where flight simulators are so advanced that I can still live out my dream virtually.

But yeah at least we got simulators like DCS World to show us what it's like to real combat aircraft and how dogfighting works.

You need plenty of altitude to recover. General procedure is to cut power, apply rudder opposite of the spin (right spin, then full left rudder and vice versa) while pushing the nose down. Depends on the plane but hopefully you'll get your plane into a nosedive which then reapplies airflow over the wings to bring back aileron control. After that it's pretty simple to regain control of the plane. Altitude is life.
unless you are a Russian pilot in Su-27 family.... or T-50 PAK-FA... I always wondered how they got out of flat spin without nosediving(they still point their nose downward in slight bit)
ApexTallyFox the Su-27 family has very good high angle of attack performance, allowing it to perform maneuvers like the Pugachev's Cobra. Very similar to the F/A-18. If you've ever seen the Blur Angels, you got a firsthand look at this amazing flight characteristic. Jets like the T-50 and F-22 have thrust vectoring, which kinda gives them an unfair advantage when it comes to high AoA and stuff like recovering from flat spins. It's great how different planes perform.
You forgot to show WWI and WWII first planes. Precursor. I worked on one of these machine, every piece is masterpiece of engineer and after all, that's beautiful... I remember when i was younger i always used to play all the flight sims on my phone, really good times. I started my passion for aviation when i visited an airbase and saw some panavia tornados fly by and touch and go
It will eventually break your ”cervical vertebrae” or simply just neck. Just because when being a jet pilot you need to have check your surroundings all the time and watch up, which is bad for neck in long run
If you ever want to be a jet pilot, and you have good eyes and under 20-21 years old, don't let your dreams be dreams. Train hard, enlist, and hopefully one day you'll fly !
