- In this video, I am comparing the trusty Sony ZV-E1 to the new Lumix S9, as both of these cameras are the brands respective full frame compact vlog cameras. Although the Lumix S9 is $700 cheaper, how well does it stack up against the Sony ZV-E1? Lets find out

Dollar for Dollar that 12mp sensor in the Sony ZV-E1, Sony A7Siii and Sony FX3 STILL REIGNS SUPREME for video. I don't think Sony can even compete with themselves to come up with a movie camera sensor that is better. Those three cameras are so good I see no need to even consider the FX6 or FX9. And believe it or not, some of these dudes are saying they'd rather have a couple FX3s than an ARRI! The entire film THE CREATOR was all shot on the Sony FX3 and it was incredible enough to be shown in IMAX. In very low light (like moon light) the full frame quality of that sensor is absolutely beautiful - especially if you set your iso right. No one can convince me otherwise - The deal you are getting for full frame video with the Sony ZV-E1 is the best (especially if you add that Tilta fan cage). I couldn't possibly fathom choosing that S9 over the ZV-E1. The ZV-E1 is well worth it, the only obstacle is adding the tilta fan cage and keeping it cool for the extended run times.
Stop believing TH-camrs lol the entire creator film was not filmed on the FX3 the director already debunked that one
@@InTheStreetsWithQuis where he did that?
The creator was NOT shot in only the fx3 lol the director already mentioned this on his interview WITH a TH-camr on here lol

Ja 12 mp... This means i would never buy such a camera. I want a hybrid camera , sony is to expensive for a video camera only. I want great pictures as well. Lumix is better for me
This was the comparison I’ve been looking for thanks brotha!
'bout time! Been waiting on this comparison since the S9 came out, thank you for bringing this to us Terry!
i like the look of the s9. it makes me want to bring it out and not attract attention. i take more images with it.
AF performance is better in Sony. It is obvious already.
BUT the current lines of Lumix S cameras focuses much better than even Fujifilm's flagship non-medium lines, and Lumix's firmware update ACTUALLY improves AF performance unlike Fujifilm.
Also with that S9 pricing, it can be Panasonic's most important camera to date, as it can lead more people into the full-frame territory, at a price of a top-line APS-C cameras out there.
Great video Terry ❤
Already have a Sony, tired of that slow ass workflow. Lumix S9 for me!
Out of curiosity, what do you mean by slow ass workflow?
Fair and excellent comment. $1500 vs $2200.
Can we get your full review on your Shure MV7 Microphone? Just bought one & would love to see YOUR review.
What picture profile and video setting are you shooting the s5iix in?? It looks amazing
Yea, the LUT feature and workflow is a game changer. AN often over used term, but LUMIX Lab is well above the Sony's Creator app and Fuji's apps. The camera is so much fun to use and I have the A6700 for photos (sports), but I'm using the S9 more often for street and occasional vids.
I use the Sony ZV-E1 w/ GM2 16-35mm and love it
Good job. Thanks for the comparison. I like the S9 stabilization. But love the Sony's arsenal of lens !!
The S9 feature with LUT system is interesting because both videos and photos can look similar. Love it, but gotta say, I wish Panasonic had provided a full featured camera in that form factor and charged a higher price.
Great Frickin’ video!
Concerning those IBIS-induced corner wobbles on the S9 - e-stab on standard should correct those. Not sure if that works in anamorphic though.
1.5 x crop on 4/60 and low max recording times kill the S9. ZVE1 is actually a ‘bargain’ for what you get. If shooting in 4/60 the ZVE1 has less crop on it in dynamic than the S9 does with its stabilisation due to ridiculous friken 1.5 crop on that S9 60FPS. That clear image zoom as you say is underrated.
Both are great for what they're intended for, but people were overexpecting from the eyes of the target audience that these cameras are aimed for.
Until Panasonic comes out with decent compact lenses to match its body, it’s Sony for me.
Full-frame sensors need larger lenses most of the time.
Sigma has a few.
I got a couple of Sigma i series, they’re pretty compact.

Terry Frickin Warfield, love it man.
You already know what ima say...
So, if I wanted that 6k 30 Open Gate, and wanted to spend less than a ZV-E1...what camera would give me that with no record limits, mechanical shutter, EVF, hot shoe, audio monitoring, etc?
R2D2 is when I hit the like button
does S9 has time-lapse?
Yes, it does
@@Wildridefilms does it stitch too or you need to do it on pc ?
@@imranalijafar everything is done in camera
There isn't a Panasonic camera on the planet that doesn't do time lapse. They old Lumix G7 from nearly 10 years ago does time lapse and stitches them together
Love the sensor caps !
Just got the zve10 and it did not come with one.
what?
There something special about that Sony sensor - and it’s cleaned up at 12800. 😮
Panasonic uses a Sony sensor
ZE-1
Great comparison video! Panny missed the mark for me because I was hoping for a smaller B-cam to my S5ii that could use the same lenses. That record limit kills that for me. That's just for MY use though.
It's unlimited with an atomos ninja. I'm not saying to go out and buy one, but many people who do lots of video already have monitors that record in their kit. I'm just saying
@@quentin6233 That is good to know, even if it doesn't help me. I just want a smaller cam to grab when I want to be light in the airplane that could share lenses. Even if talking head in the studio, I'd buy another s5ii for that price. Just doesn't work for my needs, but I hope your comment helps others!
First 🔥
Also, for cameras without EVFs, the display has to be good. The Sony's display is dull, washed out and low resolution vs the sharp, vibrant and bright screen on the S9. The Sony screens are damn near unusable outdoors.
True but the image is so much better.
@@neilrocks25 how is it "so much better"? Similar DR, slightly better in low light (mostly due to heavy NR) and no control over NR and sharpening.
@neilrocks25 You just lied for absolutely no reason at all. LOL! That's terrible. 😂 SMH.
@@neilrocks25it doesn't matter how good if you can't see what your recording. I shot an outdoor event for the first time this weekend on a A7R5. It was a nightmare as the rear screen and EVF are poor in my opinion. Indoors fine, it made me reappraise the A7R5 completely
@@markshirley01first time using it? Maybe it wasn’t set up properly and it’s totally different camera.
Yoooo! Did you say the S9 has time limits and over heats??? 😮😮😢😢😢
Just like the sony a7c which is the real competitor to this camera
@@castielvargastv7931 A7C doesn't over heat or hace time limits.
Why do you compare the lumix to this sony? The sony is a video only camera. Sony a7c is the real competitor to this camera
he said in the beginning that its not an ideal match-up but it waws specifcally requested by viewers
@@Lucy.mp4 its no a match up at all.funny thing is everyone compares the video features and no one the photo features. If you do such a dumb comparison you should at least compare everything 12mp sony vs 24 mp lumix with high resolution 96mp mode🤣 but sony fanboys dont do that , they only higlight what a video only camera does well but they sti insist to compare a hybrid camera to a video camera...To me this is biased and unfair
Frickin'
Say it 3 more times, click your heels together then watch what happens!!
Rubbish for $1500 and a normal camera for videographers for $2200
Lumix S9 has terrible readout speed.
You act like the S9 is designed to make short films. At what point are you and others going to realize the target market and stop criticizing it for not being like a cinema camera or a high-end photography camera when that's not what it's intended to be.
Sony is still the King for video. Higher resolution is overrated and extra "sharpness" isn't cinematic. The thing is, is that Sony is still the better choice simply because the ecosystem has way more pros than any other camera manufacturer. I have shot multiple Catholic Ceremonies at 4K 24 FPS and the ZVE1 never overheated nor shown signs of overheating and the record limit was an hour and a half. That to me is so wild. I use Dynamic Active Stabilization if I want to get a handleheld shot at 85mm making it around 100mm. If you're going to walk in a straight line and expect to get some crazy good stabilization handheld, that's literally what a gimbal is for. I personally don't have a need for Open Gate.
We get your point Bro, you don’t like LUMIX and sticking with Sony 😂. All that other stuff is subjective 😂 trust me I’ve shot all of the brands and I couldn’t definitively downplay one over the other.
It has a 12mp sensor.. i cant use such a low resolution camera for my Pictures. The sony is a overpriced Video only camera and it does not even have open gate and 6k i would never buy such an outdated camera.
I don't understand why the S9 has any ports on the same side as the hand grip. That makes zero sense...
That's not a handgrip 😅
They got a lot of flack on the older portable models because the ports would obstruct the articulating screen. That's really my only guess why though
@@nickguzman1734 makes sense.
If you put it in a cage?
This is the one main reason I want it. Put it on a desk mount with cables coming out the side opposite the screen. See the screen completely unobstructed (even the mic jack is above the screen). Output the HDMI to the Elgato camlink. Plug in power. Boom, no time limits, no obstructions and have a much better setup for streaming, meetings, etc.
