Reemah | Interview | Album Review | "Breaking News"

Reemah, a native of St.Croix, US Virgin Islands, is one of four leading female voices in roots (conscious) reggae music today, the others being Queen Ifrica, Jah9, and Dezarie. Her music is the exact type of reggae I love, with that incomparable VI sound.

Reemah combines exquisite poetry and songwriting with a voice full of conviction and intensity. She is fearless in chanting down injustice and doesn't hesitate to uplift and comfort through her lyrics. Her live performances are fyah!
Reemah was gracious to answer several of our questions, many of which focused on her sophomore album, "Breaking News" (2018). We gave "Breaking News" an Irie Roots Reggae Score of 9.8/10, an excellent album.

As I've said before, the artists we highlight in these interview/album reviews are those whom we think are advancing the sound and cause of roots reggae music. Reemah is certainly doing that.
Reemah is not the future of roots reggae, as we often say of younger artists. She's the present.
