I’ve just discovered you on TH-cam. I have only seen two of your videos, but I really like your approach to the game using strategy. It certainly helps that your shots are very consistent and reliable, unfortunately, mine are less consistent, therefore less reliable. Accepting your swinging shape, really speaks to me. I consistently end up in the bunker if I’m aiming for the pin and the bunker’s on the right. I will try your strategy next time I play.
Stumbled upon your channel and love it I worked HARD on my swing last winter and went from 11.6 to a 9.2 (when was best). I desperately NEED to learn better course management I am a 9.6 and handicap has ranged 10.6-9.2 and when was a 9.2 the course I was on that week I knew my bail outs very well and putting was spot on. Thank you for the great channel. Dan
I really enjoy your videos. I'd love to see you comment on consistency. I drive the ball well, but out of 10 drives I will hit 5 straight, 4 fades, and one hook. How do you deal with that? (The hook usually gets me into trouble.) My 7 iron is my safety club. But on a recent round I was hitting my 7 iron really well, then I hit a great drive on 18 and was completely confident I could hit the green easily with my 7. But then I totally topped it. I am not even sure that to call that in terms of a problem.
Blow up holes. I’d be a consistent low-90, maybe even high-80 if it weren’t for these. At least 2, very often 3, per round - and they totally destroy my card. I used to be around 5 of these per round so I’ve gotten better, but this is still a killer. And most of the time it’s not from a bad decision, but just bad shots, i.e. chunking 2 in a row on approach, or blading one over the green leaving a bad lie to chip out of. Lots of work still to do. Good video.
@@JonPerkinsGolf Will check them out! I also wanted to ask, I have been practising at the range quite a bit and I try to switch between the 2 golf clubs near me (one range is mats only, the other is grass but its not that great grass) and obviously I am hitting alot better off the mats than the grass. How do you think I should go improving hitting off grass? I only play about a round or 2 a month and seem to not really have an issue on the course, but I feel like my range session is wasted if I am hitting off grass.
I've always found people tend to have one or two clubs they're a bit more confident with, usually something with a bit of loft. Often find 5 or 7 woods and hybrids are a good starting place - something that is easy enough to get airborne but that you don't try to overhit. Build confidence with a controlled swing if you can. Good luck
I learnt from an earlier video.....dont talk to Jon when his velco is done up or if he's walking on the green (he's probably counting paces). I used to wonder why he was ignoring me!
I have to admit I've been fighting my shot shape with my driver... For some reason I just can't accept and aim for the fade, therefore really well hit drives are resulting in lost balls! Silly really
You're my new favorite golf You Tube golf guy. Keep it up!
That's awesome!!
Just found you I must admit your vids are so watchable and make a lot of sense especially to a mid handicaper keep them coming 🙌🙌
Brilliant, great to hear it!
What a refreshing video. Great advice. Looking forward to your next presentation.
Thank you, really appreciate your kind words!

I'll see what I can do!
All good ideas
Thanks, hope it helps a few people out there.
Great video

Looking like the blue wiggle
Speaking like golf sidekick.

Good video.
I suppose always having room to improve is one of the things that keeps bringing us all back. Good luck!!
what bag is that? looks sick!
Thanks! It's from a brand called Jones Sports Co (and I added my logo)

Any tips on how to develop a safety club?

@@JonPerkinsGolf thanks
Mine is definitely the blow up. I try to stop them but they just happen!!! 🤯
Keep at it, good luck!!
Id like to see some references for those percentages at the start of the video

🤣 see I'm not just being moody!! haha

Been there... Good luck
Do you want a new glove Jon? I’ve got an old one in my bag that looks like new in comparison. Get a grip man🤪
🤣 you know, I thought the same thing when I edited the video. Think it's time...
how about “staying well within yourself and never hit more than 75% of your max power”?
I like it.
Great video Jon.
PS: I would have absolutely died laughing if you did a quick ‘Wiggles Fingers’ move at any time in this video.
🤣 maybe next time...
Isn't it the middle of summer in Ireland? Why are you wearing long pants and long sleeved shirts? The content was helpful. Thank you.
Look at the trees - was filmed in early spring.
Glad it helped! And it's definitely not summer in Australia...very cold mornings.
I think becoming a single handicap player quickly is just click bait
Great advice Jon and advice that works 🏌️
Thanking you 😃
