Very pretty (include paint, styling). That said, I'm a bit frugal, so anything 11-speed is out. I think 9-speed is the perfect spot for a "one-by", based on the jumps in gears. Many people don't realize how much those 11-speed cassettes and chains cost (a cassette can run you $200), and I go through at least 2 of each per year. I'd really like a Verge frame with an Alfine 11-speed, belt drive, and disc brakes.
It sounds like the Tern Verge S8i would be more your style. Only thing different from what you mentioned is the hub, it uses the Alfine 8-speed hub instead of the 11. It has a belt drive and is definitely more commuter oriented. You can check out our video review for that bike here: th-cam.com/video/1mPqPcYi1cE/w-d-xo.html

This bike features a 451mm wheel as opposed to the 406mm that Tern bikes have traditionally used. However, 451 wheels are still classified as 20" wheels in most places of the bike world (tire companies, gear calculators, etc..) We stick with 20" in the specs to keep it simple for the consumer since there really isn't a highly noticeable difference in the ride.
Actually no wheel is 20 inches. And it's been misleading for years. The actual RIM diameter of a 20x406 wheel is 15.98 inches. The diameter of a 20x451 wheel is 17.75 inches. But neither make 20 inch or 22 inch even with tyres mounted on them. So this is really false to say a wheel is 20 inches. They should give an accurate measurement of the RIM. Because depending what tyres you are using. The diameter can vary Greatlly. From 1.1" racing tyres to 1.75 commuter tyres. To knobbly 2 inch off road tyres. So only the RIM diameter is constant. Which can be significant over 5 mile plus rides. In terms of time saved.
Hi, thanks for the review. What's the difference between this model and the x11 2021 version? Apparently the bike is sold without pedals? Where would I get the quick release ones you demonstrated?
I didnt bother with quick release pedals. As I hardly ever fold the bike anyhow. I got a pair of metallic blue rockbros ultra light pedals. And they look amazing on the X11 a they match the blue on the wheel hubs and handlebar adjustable bracket.
Guys for this bike, with its current components, what sti type shifter brand can be used for both the sram rd and deore hydraulic shiftbrakes on this bike?
The bike is designed around 451's, so while it is possible, I wouldn't really recommend it. If you want a fast bike with traditional 20" wheels, the Verge X20 would be the way to go!
What exactly is the big difference to the p10? Is it just a few 100 grams in weight or is there more? As a powerful 90 kg guy, i don't want to spend 1000 bucks just to have a little less weight.
The weight savings naturally comes with the nicer components this bike has. The 11 speed drive train, carbon cranks, higher quality disc brakes, and lighter weight wheel set all contribute to the price difference. It's simply in another league of performance and componentry in comparison to the P10.
I don't mean to put this bike on blast or anything like that... First of all this bike is by far the best top of the line that Tern has to offer... I myself own a Tern Verge D9... But if I'm being honest, I would have to admit... That this bike X11 is basically the same as the P10... In essence if I could afford either of them, and I can't with the price $1500 to $2500... But if I could afford both, I wouldn't buy a more expensive model P11 that's %95 the same of the less expensive version P10 with only a $1000 dollars difference... I mean look at both in comparison, there isn't that much of a difference in comparison... Just a few components here and there of a difference or what not, but overall it's the same bike that coast a $1000 more or less then one another... For that much of a difference in coast, I would need to see a major distinction between the P10 and X11, and I just don't see it... My Tern D9 looks similar slightly from both the P10 and X11 and was priced at $900 and some coins... But you can see a slight up grade from the two other bike that's mentioned P10 and X11 clearly looks more sportier ... So for the consumer, purchase with pride and understanding of what your really getting... And Tern Verge have the best folding bike's in the world... And if you purchase any of the Tern bikes you made great choice.
Only the frame are the same. But the group set is very much different. I have X11. Before i bought one, i consider the P10 also. But if u upgrade the P10 to be at the same level as X11, it will cost u more.
I have the P10 and it's AWESOME. So damn fast for a 20 inch wheel. I've had road bike users asking me how it's so fast. After I've passed them on the road.
@@fender1000100 It's actually a 451 wheel size that the Tern Verge D-9 uses as well the X-11 and your bike the P-10. Which is a 1.5 inch higher then the actual 20" tire wheel set so yeah that 1.5 diameter makes quite a difference in the rolling capabilities... But have you thought about putting the Switch Kit on your P-10 folding bike, I'm putting one on mine but l just need to research it a bit more before purchasing... The electric switch kit that's good for folding bikes, and fits all bikes...
That defeats the object of a high quality performance folder. For all of you asking why is the X11 £1000 more expensive than the P10. Its the quality of the components. And a 3lb weight difference you are paying that £1000 for. Now your average man on the street doesn't get this. But ive ridden both the P10 and X11. One thing I recommend to ALL P10 owners is change out the crankset ASAP. To a prolite hollow tech one if you cannot afford the sram force carbon set. You will see a difference from just that straight away. Also I took the Kore performance saddle off my old X18 and put it on the P10. And that took another 0.5lbs of weight off the P10. These little things can make more difference than you realize.. When it comes to performance. Just those changes I've aforementioned. Added 3mph to my top speed.

Both are fast, but the main differences are wheel size, gearing, and braking. Personally I would still choose the X11 because I love 1x gear systems and the geometry is more aggressive on the stock setup. - Connor
Realistically, how much chain drop did you all experience per a multi-mile ride? On my older X10, it seemed like almost every ride home from work (for a number of years), there would be at least one drop a week (if not more), even with that chain guide.
Any TERN VERGE X range is special. But the 451mm wheelset of the X11 gives it an edge. It can break 25mph on the flat without you killing yourself. And it takes hills like a boss.
Own both models, although they are in different price-ranges I can't state which one is better - it's like trying to compare a touring and sport bikes. Link P9 loves wheelies and freestyle urban riding where X11 is better for high speed commuting and long distance exercises, she really does eat the miles FAST. Most def. it is nice to have both models :)
I'm torn between this bike and the Tern Verge P10, which is $1000 less, but seems to have similar components. I wonder why I should choose one bike over the other?
@@Slapstudiosjp I haven't purchased one yet, but I'm seriously considering a foldable ebike, the Sondors XS has caught my attention, it's more versatile, still compact, and probably suits my age and needs better. Best of luck with your decision.
@@nycewheels It is, but it still needs some tuning. For example having two or three gears in front AND that 10-42 casette. I'll do that with my p10, having 30, 44 and 61 teeth in front and the original 11, 13, 15, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32, 36 and 40 in the back. Additionally, i'll remove the folding handlebar, mount the original handlebar directly and use the free space left for some triathlon horns. That thing will allow me to ride 50 km/h with ease, teeheehee. 😎😎😁😁
The X10 isn't as fast as the X11. Depending on your weight and fitness. Grade you are riding on. You can average anything from 13mph to 20mph. On the first Gen X range. I had the X20. And that was the king of the first gen. I got a top speed of 27mph on the flat..and averaged 15mph. On most trips.
I suggest to create a line of folding bikes for food delivery,... forgo all the fancy brand parts and bring generic, the goal is to have a complete build, that does it all!!... at the lowest price possible!!, so if the bike gets stolen the food delivery driver wont be overwhelmed by the loss, skip aluminium frame because it will crack and focus on light frame made with steel, the bike has to be able to the the punishment found in the job and be super budget... say $100 dollars to $150 dollars
They have all those small things which makes that bike expensive. Design is just so so; therefore, black version is better on my eye. It is an art to buy a good folding bike.
They cant be I ordered a Kinetix pro X handlebar from them last week. It came all the way to me.from Taipei in Taiwan. What happens is they discontinue their lines faster than other companies. Which is a shame because the TERN VERGE X range X10,X18,X20,X11 are the greatest folding bikes of alltime.. And they are based in Taipei. In Taiwan. Whereas over in the west its Brompton this and Brompton that. Which I consider a far inferior brand to Tern. Buy most westerners are seduced by the Brompton brand..like theyre with Rolex watches etc etc..
MartyMartin87 Dahon are top notch as well... But man oh man you can really feel the difference in those 451 wheel's... That inch and quarter from the 20" wheel set is something to behold... I have a Tern Verge D9... And it's really enjoyable... Never the less if you have a Dahon you got something really nice as well... It's like you have Coke and I have Pepsi... They both are respected brands...
The gears you need? What are you trying to climb MOUNT EVEREST?? The X11 has never failed to get me up any hill. Not even the P10. This obsession with having a gazillion gears is pathetic. Lose some weight off your body and get some stronger legs already.
I've been riding this bike for about a month th-cam.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

Personally I would still choose the X11 because I love 1x gear systems and the geometry is more aggressive on the stock setup. - Connor
NYCeWheels I'm a big fan of 1x drive systems too.
NYCeWheels is the x11 faster than the x20?
@@nycewheels x20?
Is it good for racing?
That's exactly what it's made for!
Realistically, how much chain drop did you all experience per a multi-mile ride? On my older X10, it seemed like almost every ride home from work (for a number of years), there would be at least one drop a week (if not more), even with that chain guide.
Maybe the chain is short?
I have the Verge x11 2021. No chain drop.
You must have had a loose chain. I've been riding the x11 for a year. The chain has never dropped. Not even when I've hit 30mph.
which is the fastest folding bike available? I will like to be able to ride along road bikers...
This one.
NYCeWheel which can fallow this one (the price is too high) what about the verge x18 or others. Thanks
Any TERN VERGE X range is special. But the 451mm wheelset of the X11 gives it an edge. It can break 25mph on the flat without you killing yourself. And it takes hills like a boss.
Is this bike better than the Tern P9 model?
Most definitely! This bike is on a whole other level and is certainly top of the line!
NYCeWheels Do you ship to Brazil?
Own both models, although they are in different price-ranges I can't state which one is better - it's like trying to compare a touring and sport bikes.
Link P9 loves wheelies and freestyle urban riding where X11 is better for high speed commuting and long distance exercises, she really does eat the miles FAST.
Most def. it is nice to have both models :)
How much os tern vergex11
My dream bike ...to have 🙏🏼🙏🏼
An amazing bike i wanna that!
Cost efficient
I'm torn between this bike and the Tern Verge P10, which is $1000 less, but seems to have similar components. I wonder why I should choose one bike over the other?
Me too. What did you get?
@@Slapstudiosjp I haven't purchased one yet, but I'm seriously considering a foldable ebike, the Sondors XS has caught my attention, it's more versatile, still compact, and probably suits my age and needs better. Best of luck with your decision.
Tern bike's price and weit plz tell me.
All the specs are on the first link in the description.
Love it,best bike ever.
It very well could be!
I have the x10 and I can easily do multiple 20 mile rides comfortably
How fast do you average on those rides if you are pushing it?
Love this Bike ) I'm buying it .
how fast it can go???
As fast as you can pedal :)
it's fast when I tried it. I can go aggressive with it

They have all those small things which makes that bike expensive. Design is just so so; therefore, black version is better on my eye. It is an art to buy a good folding bike.
which one?
this folding bike is nice
Is this company out of business none of their links work 😑
They cant be I ordered a Kinetix pro X handlebar from them last week.
Sepedanya mantappppf👌👌👌
nice!
I don't know why IN EVERY REVIEW you are so scared when it's time to talk about the price:
*2.399,99 GBP!!!*
Don't be afraid, man.
Prices can be found on every bike we review in the links in the description ;)
Do you have branch her in the philipines?
I like my Dahon folding bike
Dahon is great as well!
It's a Dahon Ikon D3 bike, i really like it for its Sturmey Archer SRF3.
MartyMartin87
Dahon are top notch as well...
Howmuch
NYCE went out business! 😆 😂
10-42
中国大陆版好像配置没这么好,升级了吧
It does NOT give me all the gears i need. The very first thing i will do is to transform it into a Tern Verge X33. 😉😉😉😉
Tern Verge X33? I know about the X30h but not the X33
The gears you need? What are you trying to climb MOUNT EVEREST?? The X11 has never failed to get me up any hill. Not even the P10. This obsession with having a gazillion gears is pathetic. Lose some weight off your body and get some stronger legs already.
so... rich bike
😗😗
It is just basically verge p10. These guys are talking non sense
