- In this video, I return to Queens, NY to troubleshoot my broken hitch, wobbly rear hub motor, and warping front heat tube. I'm worried that the journey may be over before it's really begun. Nah, it's all repairable....
New Yorkers come to my rescue as I try to escape Manhattan, but instead get stuck several times.
In the next video, I'll catch up with you further south on the east coast, USA - from the Outer Banks down to Myrtle Beach. The Cyberdrop can do it! I believe in the Cyberdrop and I WILL test her merits!
For all of you I've met on the road, thanks for the smiles and excitement. It motivates me to press on!

Good seeing you back on the road
Thanks Lloyd
I could feel the relief for the open road from here! Safe travels 👊
Thanks 👍
If the trailer were 31" it would go through 32" doorways. Thanks for the video. I've decided to build ultralight so that if there is no power I'll still be fit to push down and roll forward. 31" x 71.5" will fit in the bed of a small truck with room left over for a bike. That ought to let me sleep my 6"0" body in flat at a slight angle. Having been over Snoqualmie Pass in Washington state I know the value of making my kit alternatively portable.
Sounds like a good plan!
love the update man. :) at least now you have put the camper to it's paces. It gives you an idea now what to improve. :) good job man :
Exactly. Gotta put some miles in to get the intel
Hey Jeremiah, did you know about the widths of the bollards on bike paths to get the width of the trailer to the maximum and still fit?
Looks like the collars will give you the support for the trailer fork, good idea.
Safe travels my friend. 🙏
Hey Barry, what I did was measure the bollard spacing in different cities and towns I found myself through during the summer to determine the max width I could manage without getting stuck. There are still the occasional bollards that are too narrow, but 95% of the time I'm able to get through. 41" including light protrusions is the width.
In My city of Indianapolis there are a few bollards 36" and at least one I know of that's 32" (it's trail is also narrow at points. These all have workarounds not as extreme as those hills. I have ridden every path in Indy at least 3x except the brand new ones completed in 2023.
That looks so terrible to ride your bike.
I thought that Germany was terrible, but it is noting compared to New York.
I am from the Netherlands and here it is very safe to ride your bike.
It’s definitely not for the faint hearted. But it can be exciting.
A cycling trip in The Netherlands is something I have wanted to do for a long time.
Take a look at endosketal prosthetic leg titanium tube clamps. Component Tolerances are outrageous.
Interesting. I will, thanks! 🙏
Safe travels I'm totally shocked you got on the Queens expressway
Me too!
He's allergic to canadian winters , he's desperatly escaping . I nearly had a heart attach drving thru NYC roads , Phoquen insane place .
A motor puts a lot of stress on the head tube and especially on the bottom of the tube. I had the same thing happen to my delta trike head tube . I made my fork and head tube and used a Surly fixed hud with external motor 24v PMDC , full speed is fast walking. I use 12 volts direct , no speed controller , Regenative braking pumps lots of amps while going downhill . We plan on cycling 101 west coast , lot's of hills and and I'll be pulling a heavy trailer as heavy as yours . A lot of nice people in New York city . Good idea getting a storage unit , I'' ll use that idea for my trike / trailer trip . The Cyberdrop is looking good , it's the perfect rig for the Outer Banks , you lucky guy .
Good to hear of your experience and choices. Thanks 🙏
@@Jerbrown Are you heading for Atlantic city ?
@@JerbrownYo ...look at the wobble asap ...it could be a hub wobble or a rim wobble , hope it's a rim wobble , it's easier to fix .
Deflat your tire and true the rim , Use a grease marker on the rim and a simple gage attached somehow so you can adjust in small increments . Maybe you shud look at the steering on the bike .
Ahhhh...fresh air!! Did ya happen to catch any of the Charles?
Totally bypassed Boston unfortunately.
@@Jerbrown most likely a very smart move 👍
@@cher4all had to chase the warm weather
@@Jerbrown yes!! And making all kinds of new friends along the way
U are genius dude! King regards from USSR
Cheers!
😃👍👋🇺🇲🤝🇺🇦
Trailers and trikes ..too wide for existing infrastructures. Inconvenience 2 wheel cyclists.
It may seem that way, but on long road trips (Canada to Key West) the only time I inconvenienced other cyclists was crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. There’s lots of road out there for everyone!
