    It looks awesome! I bet youre happy! Haha Last yr, we got 10 reclaimed 7ft windows from my husband doing a remodeling job. Now, if I could just get him to stop working so much and build my greenhouse. Lols. 😝

    Hello from our farm in New Hampshire. Great job! Loved your design and creative thinking. We used to have more salvage yards here and they always had old windows. We built our farm cottage with a back wall off the kitchen for a 3 or 4 season porch. A multi-purpose, porch, including starting plants. Then the pandemic drove lumber prices up. I am now contemplating building it with framed sliding glass doors with a roof similar to yours. We could easily heat it off our kitchen wood stove and a muffin fan in the doorway or a small wood stove.Thanks for sharing this video. You have encouraged me to get going with our project. ~ Diane

    I have a stash of windows in my garage that I find for free on the side of the road. I've been collecting them for a couple of years now. It's nice to see that a variety of different windows can look cohesive if planned ahead.

    We just build (well still finishing up) our greenhouse. we made it with old windows and doors (french and sliding). I like yours. I like that you painted everything as you went. We ended up waiting. And if you see any of our videos we are still waiting. And now we've got the clear plastic roof on it. Not sure about how to paint it now.

    Excellent job and video!
    Looks far better than I imagined at the start! Way you laid the windows out as symmetrically as possible REALLY made all the difference after the paint went on! GREAT job guys! Need to do something like this in my garden aswell as a workshop possibly. (Got about 15-20 double glazed windows panes only and two sets of immaculate double glazed patio doors I got for free reclaimed from someone renovating which was a great score!)
    Look forward to seeing some more DIY and painting videos! 👍 (Just Subscribed)

    No thermostat-controlled fan? I am ADD as the day day day is long, so I just know that if I build one of these I'm going to walk off on a warm day and come back to a bunch of baked-dead plants. I'd love to see a vid about the thermostat-fan thing.

    How do you mount that 2 by 4 on either end that defines the peak of the roof? And how do you attach the piece that runs the length of the structure, down the middle, to define the length of the peak of the roof? Asking for a bad, inexperienced carpenter friend...

    Always wear a high-quality respirator when using a paint spray gun, regardless of whether you're working outside or inside. Do not inhale the chemical vapors/particulates into your lungs, thereby transferring them to the blood stream and the entire body.

      So far I definitely love it. I have had to replace two windows due to accidental breakage. This was not difficult with thrifted windows.
      I this spring I would like to add gutters and divert them to the inside. So when it rains the inside will be watered as well. This is still in the planning/brainstorming phase.

    I am planning to do something similar. Did you have problems with the wood touching the ground wicking up moisture?

    • @BuildGrowCraft

      No, we did use pressure treated for bottom footers.

    How did you actually hang the windows? How did you nail them together?

    • @BuildGrowCraft
      @BuildGrowCraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stationary windows 2.5 inch screws threw the frame into the studs. The front and back ones that open are on hinges with hook and eye latches to keep them close.

    Looks great! It would possibly have been faster to go ahead and paint without taping and paper. It’s quite fast to use a razor to take paint off windows.

    • @BuildGrowCraft
      @BuildGrowCraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps you are right.
      It might be equally time consuming tho.

  • @nikkiswain9229

    How much did this end up costing you all supplies included to make?

    • @BuildGrowCraft
      @BuildGrowCraft  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Footer -4
      2x10x12 are about $20 each
      Header-4 & 4 for window base plate
      2x4x12 are about $8 each
      All the studs were repurposed 2x6 from our porch we took apart. $Free
      The windows came to $200
      Door thrifted $35
      The roof was most expensive and was about $600.
      Plus things like screws
      So total came to $1000 give or take.

      Polycarbonate Panels 8mm
      Woodtite Screws with extra gasket

      All of this was purchased at our local nursery supply store not Home Depot/Lowe’s.

    • @BuildGrowCraft
      @BuildGrowCraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The front side windows we had a particular size to look for because the front was already built. (Some of the windows were cut down to fit) The other windows I found for good deal and bought enough to have an even number on both sides. At home we laid out the windows and determined the size of greenhouse we could build with what we had.
