I wasnt sure about Unmade as a raid boss theme, but if you think about it, this theme isnt meant to be a theme for a final battle, but as a last stand to thwart the Final Shape, not to destroy the Witness, which this theme showcase perfectly. Plus, the addition of motifs of the previous raid bossess is just genius, between the Beyone Light motif, the Riven motif... I feel like i also hear both Rhulk and Nezarec's motifs as well.. This theme slowly but surely grew on me. Plus the addition of the dialogues and the dps sounds make this even more incredible, it enhances the entire concept of fighting not to destroy the Witness, but to thwart the Final Shape itself. So good. Thank you for your work, good sir!
Agreed, its not heroic like Nezarec but it really gives off the feeling that if we slip up once then everything is done, the witness is literally seconds away from enacting the final shape and we are so close to preventing it
Us making it flee was just a bonus. Our one goal was to free the light and prevent the final shape. Instead we hurt it enough that it had to escape. Excision is the heroic ost.
It feels so assuring, that someone else has thought this too. I've seen so many ppl rag on First Knife, and Unmade for not being epic spectacles like Oneirophobia, and The First Disciple.
Imagine this all from the perspective of the Witness. So close to righting all of the (perceived) wrongs of existence, believing deep down that this is *right*, this is *good*, as it is all you know, yet you are still met with a resistance that you cannot understand, an unstoppable force ignoring all of your offers at every turn, even at their lowest, most pained points. Behavior that is completely irrational to you. Life is painful, life is chaotic, life is impermanent. After centuries of fighting a seemingly endless war, why do they not get it? As your body dissipates into the eldritch void of the Pale Heart, your grand plan now failed despite being so close, the voices that you were once filled with have grown quiet. Only one thought remains, now only from a singular voice. "We... I... I don't understand..."
I really don't see why people don't like the song. Bungie said we weren't killing it in the raid, and it was the last attempt before everything was over. It doesn't need to sound heroic. It needs to sound desperate.
@@nullandvoid7524it’s not like those tho. We kill nezarec and rhulk in those raids. The witness escapes here. Unmade is urgent because of the situation. If we lost to rhulk or nezarec it wouldn’t be the end of the universe. The witness is minutes away from the final shape. If we don’t win here it’s over. Excision has that heroic feel because we have won the witness is already dead. It can’t win anymore even although it’s trying to retake the light it fails.
I’m gonna miss a character like the Witness, it was so reserved and calm up until this final battle On a side note imagine being so powerful the only weakness is yourself
Been going through a rough time and literally started crying when the Witness asked why I persist. The only answer that came to mind is, although it’s cheesy, simply because a hero like the Guardian wouldn’t give up on what they think is right. “We will not yield!” Neither will I, no matter how hard it is. This hit pretty hard to listen to, thank you lmao.
It definitely should have spoke during the transition from the dps to final. One of the coolest final stand transitions. The grabbing its chest then doubling down on trying to force the final shape now in a few seconds is just so cool
Went from an emotionless godlike being with precise and sharp movements to fast and frantic movements with fear in its tone. Throughout the entire raid its tone is one of fear and it tries to mask this till we can confront it. It’s even watching us in verity and the only raid boss so afraid that it directly tries to stop us from geting to it in the previous encounter
I like how people don't understand the weight the music here holds, it's not supposed to be a badass raid theme. Beating the witness here didn't guarantee our victory, it only ensured the final shape was not enacted, it was one one desperate attack on the witness' monolith to shatter its hold on the traveler. The reason that "stronger together", "cusp of finality", and of course "make your own fate" are more raid-like songs is because that is where we unmake the witness, actually killing it, ensuring our victory.
@@EUM_NEMESIS I never said it wasn't epic. I said it wasn't a badass, heroic, prevailing track. There's no "heroic" motif here, it's fast paced, faster than any other track, representing the urgency of beating the witness before he achieves the final shape. This isn't heroic like eyes up, or exciting like queens walk. And if you disagree, you disagree with what Bungie intended for this track. Just compare it to the track(s) used in excision, all pieces from previous tracks, showing how far we've come since being handed The Stranger's Rifle.
Honestly opinions like this swayed my personal opinion of this track. Initially I didn’t really like this track, but the talk of the pure desperation of this fight made me realize that this is a pretty damn good track for such a situation. As much as I’m a sucker for the heroic and triumphant tracks, and this isn’t my favorite raid track ever, Bungie cooked. Also final stand is my favorite.
@@jcultraboss3958 Same. At face value it’s weak, but considering how stacked the odds are against us, and everything else, it actually raises the song up.
Who would win? A nigh-omnipotent giant snake multi-armed eldrich hive mind? Or one ghost boi? X) Oh, and great job on the voice clips. I legit paused when I heard the Witness starting to loose his shit. 😊
