My dad, Bernie Franklin, owned the Terry Lumber Company in Bethel, Connecticut where parts of this movie were filmed. Paul Newman went into my dad's office and they had a nice chat. Dad had a big leather couch in his office. Paul mentioned to my dad that he was tired and that couch looked awful inviting! He took about a 30 minute nap and then got back to his movie set. I was in third grade at the time. When my dad came home for dinner my mom asked him how his day went and he said that Paul Newman stopped by for a while and took a nap on his couch! My mom as you can imagine was upset that he didn't call her to come down and meet Paul Newman!!...... Dad said he was just a cool. average acting guy - no attitude or anything!! One of MANY great memories of my awesome mom & dad, Bernie & Betty Franklin!! R.I.P. - Love you both always and forever!!!!!
This film, starring Joanne Woodward (married to Paul Newman for 50+ yrs), is discussed briefly in a SEINFELD episode while George is browsing a video rental store. He sees Susan (from whom he has broken up) holding hands with another woman. The vision sets off at least a week of self-introspection about whether dating him drove her to turn to lesbianism. George, always insecure and forever spending his time trying to correct any possible misunderstanding about who he is and what his "true intentions" were about any subject to turn people's opinions about him around. Poor little fellow.
My names Rachel, remeber that episode as a 9 year old to a T, screamed to everyone, no one listened.....U HAVE NO IDEA HOW VALIDATING U ARE TO A NERDY KID, WITH IMMIGRANT PARENTS WHO WAS MOLDED BY LARRY DAVID LMAOOOOO XOXOXO
