      I like it however It needs a tiny bit of work to be fair. I feel like the glint should only happen if A) the target is looking in your direction, B) if obstructed by smoke leafs or other debris hide the effect. Until then it’s just a stupid gimmick.

      I think glint is fine.
      It needs obviously need to stop shining through objects. It's maybe a little bit too bright.
      We can imagine a game mechanic where intensity of the glint changes depending of the range.
      Like very low glint for close range (~20m max), bright glint for normal ranges, and slightly lower glint for insane ranges (+1000m).
      It doesn't make sense when someone sitting at 1300m shines brighter than a lighthouse.

    I think how intense the glint is should depend on size of the scope, and distance. So if you are using a high zoom up close it's very apparent but if you're 1000 meters away with a 20x you need to pay a lot more attention to notice it. I think it's a fair middle ground.
    You shouldn't be so easily spotted a couple hundred meters away just because you have 2x more zoom than your average sight you'd see on an assault rifle.

    I.. agree that having no scope glint is nice, especially at closer ranges. I disagree with the (implied) claim that using long range scopes is categorically wrong. I've been having the time of my life counter-sniping with the 15x up to 1200 meters, occasionally pulling out the 20x if I have to push past that range. I have binoculars to spot targets, and if I get spotted in return, I can reposition. The worst thing someone can do is sit still, or come back to the same spot again and again. They may be able to get kills from that position, they may have the aim necessary, but they definitely don't have the mindset. In regards to scope glint, while I dislike it, I think it's a necessary balancing tool. Helps the blind find me and return fire if I don't nail them in the first shot or two. Besides, it puts the fear of God in any players attempting to cross open terrain without smoke.

      Scope glint is awful. At least the way it's implemented now. As someone previously said, at least dont make it glaringly obvious when someone isn't even looking anywhere near you. And as far as the other guy, 1 hit kill snipers are a viable option, especially when they're playing the objective, in games like arma koth, 2km+ kills overlooking an objective is satisfying.

  • @SimplestUsername
    @SimplestUsername ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I suppose a good fix would be to make the scope sparkle briefly only once when you first look in their direction or when they initially zoom in on you.
    The goal should be to notify you, not to place an "arrow" over the sniper.

  • @guymcdude5272
    @guymcdude5272 ปีที่แล้ว +44

    Depends on your playstyle. If you're constantly repositioning after every few kills, or using the glint to purposefully lock down a sightline, then the long range scopes are fine. If you play closer and would prefer to not alert snipers when you're countersniping, then medium scopes are preferred.
    Although I will admit that scope glint is a bit much at the moment. The glint goes through various objects (even walls sometimes), and if you shoot for the center of the glint you're more or less going to score a headshot.

You already know long range scopes trade stealth for zoom, and you already know that anyone can zero their rifle to 1000m, so just stop being stupid. Little tip from a long time sniper, when going long range use the recon drone and fly it up high to spot stationary snipers from above.
    Always try to position yourself 2+ Meters back shooting through the smallest hole you can make, if you can't make this sniper nest shoot twice then move position and always change if a sniper is looking at you.
    use a bipod only if you are laying on the ground peaking through this small hole. Anything else, use the stubby.
    Finally, use your canted sight to aim at your target before switching to your main scope. I can switching optic bound to a thumb button so I always have quick access to the trigger. It goes like this; switch to canted > peak and aim > swap to main scope > fine adjustments > fire > swap to canted. Whole thing means I have less than 200ms scope glint

  • @IRgaming918
    @IRgaming918 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    The scope glint is a bit too much right now. It works sort of at much longer ranges but around 300m sniping with long range scopes just doesn't make sense for me. You just aim and are instantly spotted. I'm assuming there is a 'cone' in front of the scope and everyone in it can see your glint (i.e someone close below you while your on a roof wouldn't see the glint or someone to your side. Maybe reducing the size of this imaginary cone, the brightness and making it so it doesn't show through some objects would be a good change.

    Bullet drop in this game is an illusion. When you die and click report player, you can spectate them, and see every player's ray casts. You can even freecam to pretty much cheat for your teammates. The only reason you gotta aim above a player's head is because of some cheap trickery involving the scope / gun sway. If you're gonna use a small range scope, you might as well set your FOV low like 60, give you better accuracy.

    I've played about 55 hours of Battlebit so far exclusively as Recon - Here are some tips about sniping for new players and some thoughts about the current "balance" for recons.
    1. Use a medium-range scope as Stodeh says. - Scope glint on long-range scopes is extremely obviously. On PC especially, people will laser you with normal rifles (AK, M4, SCAR, etc) by spraying in your general direction and since BBR has such a short TTK, you'll die A LOT from people just seeing the glint, spraying in your direction and getting a lucky headshot and random body hit. I believe the scope glint at the moment is extremely unbalanced as it makes sniping from any distance beyond a couple hundred meters extremely difficult on moving targets.
    2. BUILD, BUILD, BUILD cover - for those that are still new, when you score squad points or your squad does, you can build sandbags/concrete barriers around your position. Use this to your advantage. If you have a sniping spot that's great but on one or more sides, there's no cover, hold down middle-mouse and click to build fortifications and place walls blocking your unguarded sides. You can also use this feature to your advantage to create your own sniping spots by building sandbags, etc on top of one another to put you higher into the air. Extremely useful for maps that are flat with very bad sniping like tensatown or others with almost no snipings spots (that aren't completely obvious)
    3. Use rally points for your squad - Same concept, squad points can be used to build rally points so that your squad can spawn on them virtually anywhere. As recons, we travel to good vantage points away from objectives and in secluded areas where we won't be shot or spotted easily. Use what you are already doing to create spawn points for your squad to take objectives and take the enemy team by surprise by constantly spawning on top of them even if they have the objective captured. - on the flipside, if you need a spawn point for just yourself, you can take a quad and park it anywhere inside your team's safe zone (where you're still capable of shooting) and it will allow you to spawn on it as much as you want. You can use it as a mobile spawn point and enemies won't even notice it because it's a vehicle, not a rally point/spawn beacon.
    Anyway, as far as balance, I honestly really dislike how recon is done in Battlebit. I feel like the devs really tried to disincentivize long-range sniping to the point that it's barely viable without getting killed every 1-2 minutes. You also have no way to hold a good sniping spot once you die unless your teammates or a rally point are close by. You could spend 15+ minutes getting to a good sniping spot, only to get unlucky and have a guy halfway across the map see you, spray a rifle 300+ meters, kill you, then you have to make your way all the way back. Use your squadmates, rally points and vehicles to your advantage to minimize this but you'll still be walking a majority of the time.
    Secondly, the fact that most maps have such an intense "fog of war" that you can't see beyond about 300 meters really kills the sniping on those maps. Some don't have it that bad, but many do and many there are not even any high spots to get kills as a recon. You'll be constantly fighting for a tiny rooftop with bad visibility that is constantly targeted because it's the only spot on the entire map that has any visibility for sniping good angles. On maps that have very bad visibility and no sniping, use building to try and create your own sniping spot above trees, etc to get better angles than the crappy map buildings.
    Lastly, the recon having no good pistols until around level 80 sucks, so you'll be using the default MP443 the most. If you can, run a suppressor and red dot, makes it easier to kill people and stay hidden in CQB when you have to, but try to avoid getting into any gunfights where you can't use your rifle. As a recon, you're going to die a lot. A lot a lot. So try your best to stay hidden. Your armor typically sucks compared to everyone else so the best way to win a fight is to not be in it in the first place and stay as far away from people as possible (which is why the recon balancing frustrates me to no end) - You make a weak class designed for long-range engagement and do everything in your power with balance to force them to have to fight/snipe within 200 meters and with their best equipment, they're so glaringly visible and obvious and die so quickly that it makes it impossible to really do effectively.
    I'm hoping someday recons can get a personal spawn beacon (that works like BF3/BF4 spawn beacon for only the recon themselves) as well as a less obvious scope glint or attachments that reduce the scope glint. Some of these maps are so large, yet it's so easy to spot people 500+m because of the scope glint. The glint should only be visible when using ADS imho and only when you're looking in the direction of the sniper's scope. But, instead the devs descided to make long-range scopes small spotlights to the entire map that shows literally everyone where you are. The game was initially designed to be a more-casual sim-style game. When snipers/recons have to constantly move and can't even snipe from 300+m because of a constant barrage of bullets, it's almost completely pointless to even try on most maps because the higher sniping spots are apparent to everyone.
    I get people don't want to be dominated by snipers but that's why the enemy team also has them - recons counter other recons. Nerfing recons for everyone by making them have a massive marker on the screen through objects and at stupid angles makes recon possibly the worst class to play (unless you only use medium-range optics) which really nerfs the range recons can utilize. I think within the next year or two, Battlebit will have a lot of things rebalanced and working better. I'd also prefer a kill-cam similar to Battlefield rather than the ragdoll that they have now where you just kind of sit dead on the ground until you're picked back up. This would also help with spotting pesky recons that are in cheesy spots and also help find people exploiting collision on maps in spots that should be impossible to reach.

    I found a lot of success using medium range scopes at up to around 800 m max. Anything beyond that a proper scope is needed. Once you get beyond 1000 m, it doesn't matter if snipers can see you because you can dodge most incoming fire and counter snipers will need to figure out their zero at odd ranges at that point. I went 55 and 2 in one match with all kills over 1000 m. As long as you are in a good spot and know your zeroes it's really not that hard nor impressive. Though you will mostly be only shooting other snipers going after closer range targets because they are the only ones staying still long enough.

    Scope glint needs fixing.
    Ways to fix it:
    1. Glint only appears when you are over 500m away and they are looking close to where you are at. Then it'll encourage sniper vs sniper fights and mean players will have to look/listen for gun shots to locate a concealed sniper.
    2. Glint only appears when the hold breath button is held down.
    3. All scopes have a small glint that can appear when aiming at someone - if you are aiming down sights and your crosshair goes on them and you are on their screen, they see the glint.
    4. Have a scope attachment (like a lense cover) that blocks off a big chunk of the scopes view (think looking through a slit) but reduces the glint.
    Also, no zoom/adjustible scopes? The top scopes should have different distance settings or at least give us the option to put the scopes on either attachment point.

  • @roxstar5088

    It's a common IRL sniper thing that after a shot or if you are really lucky two, you are compromised so you have to move.
    The whole idea of camping just doesn't happen in real life. And I think the sniper glint in the game emulates that. However the second you zoom in you get instantly shot from across the map by the whole army makes it also kinda irritating to do. A medium range scope should not be the solution making long range scope irrelevant.
    I think I would balance it more with see the glint drop off at a certain angle. Creating a tight cone for peering through your scope but greatly increases the angle when shooting. So you only see the glint if the sniper is almost on you but shows the position of the sniper to a larger area when he is actually firing opening them up for counters.

  • @DJ_Dett
    @DJ_Dett ปีที่แล้ว

    Considering the size of the battles, and the maps with a plethora of cover to work with, I personally think the scope glint mechanic shouldn't exist. We already have tracers on every round, so it's not hard to spot snipers when you're looking for them; but I think it's ridiculous for a rifle to have what is essentially a high-powered flashlight mounted on the top.

  • @HabarudoD

    Scope-glints need to:
    Have the angle at which they appear reduced. Its so unfair for snipers to be spotted by enemies they're not even aiming close to. It's also the biggest deterrent for playing snipers in their intended way. Also, the "scope-glint robot" thingy, no one falls for that anymore. It's way too predictable, and should have randomized on/off timing and random duration of scope-glinting.
    I also wouldn't mind adding tracer/air distortion lines to the bullets fired from snipers (like in Valorant? I've never played it but from what I can see there's like an air distortion behind your bullets? Or like Widomaker and Ana in Overwatch, when firing scoped in).

    Alright!! Hear me out.
    It would be pretty cool if they could add in a feature to do with the sun. Don’t really know what you would call it.
    But like rather than removing glint add a feature that reacts with the sun. So if the sun is setting like it is on the map at 8:17 in the video; and you are aiming from east to west, you get glint due to reflection. Same situation however you are aiming from west to east no reflection. Would add another element of awareness into your positioning in the map.
    Sounds totally broken right? Well what if they then add an attachment to the scopes where you can hide the glint on the optics however your field of view is narrowed looking down the scope.
    Just feel like a game like this could achieve this kind of mechanic. What are our thoughts?
