PLEASE NOTE: THE FEMALE MINIFIG HAS THE WRONG HAIRPIECE. I have seen that after recording the video. The hairpiece should be x103 Black Minifigure, Hair Female Pigtails
That hardly matters because this hairpiece was common from 1984 onwards i.e. The Caravan. My favourite 1985/86 sets are the postal motorbike and telephone booth because they retain elements from the 1983/84 era and are extremely simplistic making them very affordable. I wouldn't be surprised if the striped jumper didn't make a show on this set (the red/blue one). Also, the white hubcaps, square button computer, motorbike and baseball cap are a surprise to me as I thought they were all introduced in 1984. Thanks so much for walking us through this set Henry.
This was my favourite LEGO set for a long time! My dad bought it for me on my seventh birthday, he surprised me and took me to the local toy store and asked if I wanted it.
Just got into your channel and I will binge everything. I wished I had any of these sets. I love collecting Lego Slizers/throwbots as well as modern sets.
I suspect this set is held in high esteem due to the iconic baseplate like the Cape Cod House. I guess what makes it attractive to the Lego collector is the use of Basic bricks for the awning columns and Technic girders and pins for the framework for the underside that I never knew existed until now. If that is not enough the hoist is made up of Legoland Space components completely. The only sets that rival these two are the Blue House with the attic, the Police Station plus the Fire Station from 1983. It is good to know that the baseball cap, the white hubcaps and the motorbike were introduced in 1983 or at least the blue motorbike. The black frame windows and doors are also rare. Also, the computer used for the petrol pumps is used for the 1984 red car set with the blue jack that I used to have. Not a big set but fun enough.
Now this a an awesome Lego set and maybe I'll buy it some day but I also recommend some Lego sets that I have in my vintage Lego collection that I thank you will like in your's. Lego McDonald's set 3438 from 1999. Lego train set 7722 from 1985. And Lego big rig truck stop from 1987. And also I got the big rig truck stop set sealed! But I can't build it right now because I'm out of room but I will build it when I have room and have a happy new year! 🎉
Thank you for this extra information! 6393 Big Rig Truck Stop seems to be a cool set! But it was limited I see and hard to find! Thanks for watching. Happy New Year!
I have the slightly newer (just 3 years later) 6378 Shell station. It has a similar but updated towtruck which seems to be a bit more realistic than the one in this set (per your comments on it). However, I like the car lift mechanism you showed here, rather than the portable jacks they used in later sets like mine.
This is a good set that makes me feel very nostalgic even though I never had it! Even as a child I would've wanted to make a few changes, though. And I never liked the "crane" piece that the hook was attached to. 😀
In 1983 there were many new pieces of which some nice parts in this set. I think the slopebrick piece is just the only thing what makes the towtruck interesting :)
@@henrysvintagetoys I'll always watch your videos, thanks for doing them and posting for the community talking about so many sets that you don't see very often
@ Cool. I got the original yellow airport with stickers, box and inner box from my childhood 😉 Not for sale (yet). Greetings from The Netherlands. Maybe I have two or three okay quality boxes for you to have. Need better organisation first. 🤣 Keep up the amazing content.
@@EdwinvdKaaij I have already 6392 Airport from 1985 with box and manual of wich you can already see a video on my channel. The video that I will be posting soon is about 6396: International Jetport with box and manual from 1990. The only one I still miss from my collecting period is 6597: Century Skyway from 1994, and I'm also on the hunt for 6377: Delivery Centre. With box and manual is that set very hard to find for a reasonable price. But I keep on searching! Thanks for you support and comment! Greetz Henry
Yes I know, it was a filthy set, but I have already replaced some white bricks. When I make videos, it's also the first time when I see and build the set. I want to show you how I find them. It's reality tv :-) after making the video, I restore where necessary.

Cool set!
yes!
I have the 377 my first lego set :)
very cool!
The first set I got was 6378 Shell Garage, I would love if Lego bought it back. I loved it, still have the pieces but not all the big Shell stickers.
Cool! The collaboration with Shell ended in the 1990s and Lego then created its own fictional brand Otan.

one of the better designed gas stations made of Lego bricks.
yes, especially the baseplate is great.
@@henrysvintagetoys unfortunately my baseplate is broken in one corner

I like the car lift mechanism because is made out of old gray light bricks!

Henry, unfortunately your female minifigure is with the wrong hair piece, it's supposed to be the same of that older one

Henry, the brush dont make damage to the pieces?
no, it's a perfect brush for cleaning!
🥰💯💥👍👏👏👏
Thank you!
Man, I would have better first washed up the bricks before building the set. The lot looked quite filthy. 😕
Thanks for the review anyway.
