    A lot of people just dont get the ''Black Elvis' thing- crazy when you think Elvis grew up listening to black gospel music and rhythm and blues. If you miss that about Elvis you dont understand his cultural importance. Colbert is doing the same thing in a sincere and loving way.
    This is an amazing performance so full of symbolism...just awesome.

    There's only one Elvis. But the message of this song is still and MLK speech is still relevant. This version is well done.

    I don't look at the color of a person's skin is. I think that he has a good voice and as long as he does it in a good way I rank him with alot of others.
    There will never be another Elvis but, as long as people like him sing his songs he will live on forever.

    Cool Colbert and very historical as well. Elvis would be honored.......He was the reason this song was written for Dr. King and the reason the producers' original plan to end the special with a Chirstmas song was squelched. He asked that this song be written to reflect the tragedies of Bobby Kennedy and Dr. King. He was devastated by Dr. King's murder in his adopted hometown of Memphis...bt

    I personally think this is one of Elvis Most Touching songs. And you nailed it Buddy. I can really feel your love. I can see that you put your soul into it. You may not sound so much like Elvis. But you sang it with all you heart. And you got a great voice. I'd love to see you Live! Do you do any Concerts in Los Angeles or near Los Angeles? Cause you're worth every penny. I need more of you. You're great. Do you have a Facebook account?
    Looking forward for your answer!
    Anyway, keep up the great work. Much love, God bless.
    Your Fan.

    @KLUNKET I'm sure you're right, but it's a gimmick for Colbert and it gets people to stand up and take notice of both him and of Elvis' music. Colbert has definitely made his own name for over 25 years with both the Hell Razors and the Nitros, who were and are PHENOMENAL bands, and now he's doing the Elvis schtick, but in his own voice. It's just a little twist on the typical impersonator bit.

  • @KLUNKET
    @KLUNKET 14 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This may seem silly, but why do we need a black Elvis? There was only ONE Elvis, and he was a very good man who cared about people regardless of color or ethnic backround. We are lucky to have had the one Elvis that we had. I have never heard of a white Ray Charles! In my personal opinion some of the BEST entertainers this world has ever SEEN were black, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr., B.B. King and so many others. I think this is a talented man who should make his own name.

    ELVIS WOULD NOT HAVE SUPPORTED OBAMA. Elvis was a strong gun advocate & owned over 30 something guns in the 70's. He even owned a Thompson sub-machine gun & an M-16. He and his guys all had permits to carry their weapons, & Elvis would occaisonally perform a show with a gun tucked in his boot. There's no way in hell he would support anyone or legislation telling him what kind of gun or how many he could own.

    • @pheobefink2664
      @pheobefink2664 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elvis was not himself in the 70s. His voice was greater but pills, whiskey and overwork had messed with his mind..

      Unfortunately, poor ol' Elvis would be forced to support 'vaccines', proxy wars, and 'climate change' and it would have destroyed him to be a stooge for his masters.. I'm glad he passed when he did, before all this present-day insanity. He now serves the true Master in Jesus, His KING. Elvis, I know, would detest these times.

    Great song rendition and video, although, invoking or trusting in a SELECTED president/puppet, who really presides over nothing much, is an exercise in futility. Power to the people, and to truth, freedom, sovereignty, and democracy- all these things that we neither have nor won't have for much longer if we don't awake from the coma. Nothing has been random since 2020!

    • @elvisbrando6523
      @elvisbrando6523 ปีที่แล้ว

      Name one black artist who could have the versatility of 'parroting' what Elvis did? That's at least 5 genres to choose songs from. Elvis sang songs from Frank Sinatra to Chuck Berry to Al Jolson to CCR and more besides, and improved on many of the originals. The 'stealing' from black artists accounts for maybe one era, Elvis had close to 25 years in the business with such diversity of songs and styles that no one, of any hue can match. BTW, I love many of the great black artists, and so did Elvis.
