Rock Raw and Basic…just a great heart-warming sound of a Jam! When a song makes you want to go out and pick up a gui-tar, it has succeeded as an art form. Lou Reed said somn’ of the like once…and this kinda sound makes me wish I had a band to jam. Bought this album in early 90’s and never tired of it. Strangely I bought it after hearing Sleeping Pill on Echoes…priceless album!
Saw them at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor when they were touring for Pup Tent, about 20 years ago. Wow, has it been that long?!! Still ranks as one of the best shows that i've ever seen. Incredibly tight, flawless set.
I should probably mention that my friend got it when it was only a few months old, we thrashed it for a few years then drifted apart and I moved on to other bands. We have recently got back in contact and are planning a hiking trip together. All of that combined has made the nostalgia as I listen to this almost overwhelming. Amazing.
A friend of mine bought Bewitched on a random recommendation from a store clerk, and started raving about it night and day. I borrowed it and fell in love. This song in particular is just extraordinarily perfect to me. But everything on that album was gold. I am actually looking at a shelf holding many old CD racks and I can see this album cover poking out from the top of one of them. It was quicker to torrent it than rip it.
Saw them twice in one day on their Pup Tent Tour. They played a full set at a cool record store promo gig with free kegged beer and indoor smoking, even Dean lit up after the super-tight and ripping set. ( Not promoting smoking, it’s a nasty habit and will kill you). That night they played a club called the Crocodile. Justin and Sean walked in with these two 6ft tall gorgeous women dressed like high dollar hookers/escorts whatever. The platinum blonde wore a playboy bunny medallion up high with her low cut top. It was drizzling so she wore signature snowy-white faux-fur coat. Perhaps they were groupies who were just dressing extra sexy for a night out to see their favorite band, or perhaps they were paid escorts a gift from Electra. It was none of my business, but they were so gorgeous you’d have to be dead not to notice. Anyway, the show was great, all the new songs off Pup Tent and some of the older early rippers. With two guitars, it really filled in the sound. They were playing fast like they had somewhere else to be but still delivering quality work with an extra edge respectively. It would have been a wonderful night to go home with a playboy Amazonian and die by Snu-Snu!

I was there, what a show!! Saw them at Majestic a couple years later.
Dean has so many great lyrics: "I had to be drunk just to look at your face but that was alright by me" has always been one of my favorites.
Such a sublime album.

Man, you can just hear that velvet influence.
This was mixed wrong...the guitar play is the focal point of this great song...just sayin'
