Correction, it was Level 3 Armor not 3a
It must be rated at lvl 3+. Regular lvl 3 isn't rated to stop m855.
You ready had one so have one of these: 🤘
@@saygoodnight2010 Currently there are no ratings for M855 or M193. Level III is 6 shots of M80 Ball. It's generally accepted Level III steel will stop M855, but will have trouble with M193. Level III UHMWPE will stop M193, but not M855. new RF1/2 standards will address this.

995 is trash tbh, way to low of flesh damage, between that and the garbage hit reg and server tick sometimes I have to dump half to almost all of a STANAG into even a scav center mass. 855a1 is way better. Or even 856a1.
@@SexyLilSeaOtter This is why it's the anti-chad round. You shouldn't run this against mid tier opponents. This is too early for this wipe season, maybe one more month in...

They really cost no more than $2. The first ammo I got in Iraq was a mix of mk318 and m955 in a ziplock bag. The Mk318 rounds were so damaged they could barely feed, I'm not a fan of OTM rifle rounds.
@@Mr12ob did some quick research but its by no means accurate enaugh to br cited
If we go by the higher price of tungsten (350 $ per 1kg) then the value of tungsten itself in the bullet is around 3.5$ assuming it has the same volume as a typical 62grain steel core.
But unfortunately tungsten price per kg varies from 25$ to 2500$ so its hard to say.
They Dident go through the shotgun scav head unlike his buckshot on my head
@@yogithebear7493 could have bought an helmet and a visor instead of spending it on M995
@Vladimir Putin still, if they were as cheap as standard m855a1 they would be issued to everyone, so its safe to assume they are either more expensive or thier balistic characteristics are unsatisfactory.
Edit: using the same method it would seem that the price of carbide ranges from 1.5$ per bullet and down depending on the quality of carbide. So safe to assume around 2-2.5$ per full cartrige.
I used to have 180 of these but I got killed by Reshala
1 mag in a hk, others in the kappa
can u explain what ur doing with 180 m955 on customs

I was shot with one of those pre-'05 M995 bullets when I was in the military. Almost point blank. The tungsten core went straight through my femur and into a hill in Europe. I'm still, over a decade later, pulling copper and steel out of my thigh, but I kept the leg and can (with help) walk!

Green tips aren't really meant for Armor Penetration, but more hard cover penetration. So, those rounds will perform better against cinderblock walls or other things you may hide behind.
Duly noted. I mean I'd like to think that I'd be able to Chip away through that wall and I'm going to get you at you.
Green rips are great for windshields
GT's are rated as "light" armor piercing not for armor rated to stop heavier rounds like any Level 3 and up are rated for.
Meant to shoot through vegetation. Common complaint of M193 during Vietnam
Car doors and light cover, most rounds penetrate but their trajectory is altered and they lose a lot of energy, green tips were the solution to that, they retain their energy better through cover like windshields, car door panels, trunks, wheels and wood.
Those rounds are 100 bucks each?! I've had 300 bucks just sitting in my emergency mag for over 10 years now?!
I really love the channel and I want to continue to see it grow! Let me think on this and maybe we can work something out so you can continue to tear stuff up with them! I deployed 05 - 06 and Naval custom did a bad job searching my bag because I found them in my old DCUs! Since then, I've had them in my mag.
Cool, we will take them👍 we would love to try more test with them
@Baxter James his point is that he has 300$ worth of m995 sitting in a mag and he didnt even know it. Its pretty obvious what he meant but i guess i still had to clear it up for you.
Anyway I can get just 1? I collect 556 weird rounds. I’ve got pretty much everything but the 995
@@Peyton73 what are these “weird rounds” i only know hollow point, fmj, frangible, varmit, incendiary, explosive, and tracer.
As a Tarkov player, when the level 3 was hit with the m995, I felt that
Green tip was never meant to puncture armor, unless you're talking about 60's era Russian helmets. It's made to punch through cinder block and mild steel.
Thank you for the explanation
Green tip is not armor piercing or designed to. Intended purpose is to penetrate soft body armor.
Green tip has 100th of a mg of tungsten in it and that is wrap in lead then with a copper jacket. That is why it spins sideways as soon as it leaves the end of the rifle.
Green tip is designed as a light armor piercing round meant for cinder blocks, mild steel, and soft body armor with a mild steel core
The DoD used M855 and M856-T for live fire exercises and actual missions back in the cold war. M193 and M196-T were used sometimes also, but mostly for training and live fire exercises.

You nailed the green tips. Miled steel core on top of a lead cup, all swaged into a copper jacket.
Of course high speed fails on the most expensive shot.
I know, We have some more coming, and we will do something else with them,
I appreciate the minute of talking in between shots and the music during the replays of the shots. That's very useful.
i hope forgotten weapons explains/explores why they stopped making that bullet.
I think it's pretty obvious that they must've been too expensive for them to be practical. Why shoot an ammo that pens armor when most combat is with unarmored insurgents?

Real Chads know exactly what was gonna happen😭😂no flesh damage tho:(
We did a test with the M995 back in the mid '80's, but with 1/2" cold-rolled steel (no AR500 back then). The M995 punched a small hole, but even more interestingly was that 147 (?) grain ball round out of an FN FAL breezed right through the steel with no problem. Impressive for an FMJ lead core bullet.
Now THOSE are some wicked ass frame rates! I swear, high speed cameras are just too badass. Sucks that it messed up on the one round we came here for but still, dope vid as always.

Best gun content on the interwebs
I’d be interested in seeing the penetration of a common bullet, like FMJ, at different velocities. Start out at 2500fps with a loaded down 222 and then go up 500fps until you hit 4000 out of a 220 swift or something. Just a thought... On softer steel of course.
I got my hands on a few black tips when I was in Iraq. I hate that I didn’t keep them as a collectors item.

M995: These are extremly hard to find.

Green tip has a small steel core meant for general penetration at long ranges where as ap has a tungsten carbide core meant for armor penetration.
Awesome thanks
Your Welcome 😊
Very interesting for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
I read that a green tip has a steel tip and lead core.
I’m curious to see how the 7.62 holds up against lvl 3 armor. I have a guess you could puncture while spending half the cost of a 5.56
You've either found a really good deal on 7.62, or a bad deal on 5.56. Also you didn't specify which 7.62.
Level iii armor is rated to stop typical 223/556, 762x39, a standard 308/762x51 ball round, and 545x39 I think. Not all do, but they are supposed to so they can claim NIJ ratings. With 556 and 308, when you start upping the velocity, lighter bullets or increased pressure, they tend to penetrate level iii. Often iii+ might stop faster bullets. But, with 762x39, the speeds need to reach over 308 velocity and the cartridge just can’t handle that much pressure.
With 7.62x39 if you use a hard metal like tungsten you will then defeat level iii body armor. This goes for other calibers as well.
Rifle bench... Very rigid... Bang! Ow, crap...
I still keep on laughing ))
Keep it on guys! Really nice channel! Thanks!

this is a great channel. i know you said they are expensive but what would your thoughts be about taking that m995 projectile and loading it up into a hot 22-250 for 220 swift and shot out of a 24inch or longer barrel. just looking at how you could maximize the armor defeating capabilities of this projectile. and am curious as to how much it could go through. another thought would be to get some light weight 5.7x28AP rounds pull the projectiles and get the velocity up to 4000+ fps by loading them up into the 22-250 or 220 swift as well
