Scar talking to himself instead of the hyenas gives a whole new level of complexity to the character
@InkyStory It's like scar is going insane. As if he is hearing voices and getting mad at them.
It's more of a powerful monologue with a psycho than joking around with hyenas. Almost like voices in his head. It's crazy how one small change can change the whole dynamic of the song.
It definitely gave me goosebumps. That part made this so powerful. Even more so than the first cover. Scar slowly going mad and talking to himself. Well, we all knew that Jonathan is a genius. This proves it.
It would make sense because in the original version of the movie and in the Broadway version Scar starts falling into insanity, so seeing this version of Be Prepared is, in a small way, paying tribute to that.
It does that makes Scar even more Amazing

Scar is such a complicated character that we don’t talk about it enough. He was literally slowly going g insane the entire movie and no one talks about it. Great job you did the song AND the Character justice.

Oh, this one is definitely darker and more demented than the original cover. The original was very rousing. This one is just insane, especially since the hyenas are now the voices in Scar's head. Also, Jonathan sounded like he was channeling Marco Hietala during certain parts of the song. Nice touch.

I've always enjoyed The Lion King growing up. My childhood story runs deeper than anybody can imagine and it always surprises people when I share my testimony! And the Story of Simba and Scar has a similar echo compared to my childhood.

I'm usually pretty wary about metal covers because a lot of them seem to be pretty straightforward copies but with a distorted guitar and maybe a solo. But you really made this your own. The backing tracks, the vocals, all of it. You captured Scar's traitorous serpentine nature.
I wish you had played Scar in the remake.
