When I listen to Marc Martel, I don't hear Freddie. I hear an incredibly talented singer in his own right, who has great range and can do a killer impression of a legendary frontman if he wants to. Whether it's Downhere, Queen Extravaganza, or just Marc, you're pretty darn good.
I love this because it is Marc just being Marc. So many will claim that he is just, once again, singing like Freddie. NO!!! This is just Marc being Marc.
Can't you people compliment Marc without bringing Freddie Mercury into it? Marc is superb as Marc. He doesn't need to be Freddie or anybody else to be great.
I mean there’s definitely Mercury influences in his style and musicality but he’s his own artist. No one is 100% original. We’ve all been influenced and inspired by others. Great art is imitation.
As someone who has a very unusual bond to Freddie, and I normally hate people comparing artists with others because everyone is so unique and talented as are you. but I have to say, you singing this is the closest thing I can get to hearing Freddie sing it and I cry listening and watching you sing this all the time now. A couple of weeks ago we saw Marc Martel and his Queen tribute band "One Vision" at the Fisher Performing Arts Center at Belmont University. The band was great and Marc was incredible (he sings many of Freddie Mercury's parts in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, so he clearly has amazing vocal chops). However, the highlight of the evening for me was his performance of Ave Maria, which he dedicated to those killed a few days earlier at the Covenant school. It was a beautiful rendition of a beautiful song.
