    You just showed to anyone how simple and easy it is to clean this filter, making no mess. I saw some video that people complain that the skimmer makes noise, but it is because the water leval was not correct Am I right, great video

    How often do I change your media?

    • @Eclectic-Human

      When people say "media" they are referring to different things, so i'll break it down. Bio media, as in ceramic rings or lava rock or matrix, so far I haven't. A quick shake in tank water when doing filter maintenance to dislodge any large stuff from the surface that may make it less effective. The thing to watch for is a slow or small rise in ammonia; that will tell you how your filtration is doing generally, you should know your tank and be aware of changes through water tests. Foam or sponges same; never have had to, for same reasons. I have noticed that with using the pan scraper I have, and the method I use, that the original blue coarse foam has a couple of very small piece come off of it. As for filter floss, in my case weekly, its discarded. I could play with it a bit to get most of the gunk out of it but the reason its in there is to catch all the fine stuff. So I don't want to put it back in. The foam and the bio media house a large percentage of the beneficial bacteria so its knock the dirt off and keep the good stuff (BB). If I didn't do weekly maintenance, it could be an issue, maybe. Iit depends on your bioload and cleaning schedule. I want to avoid having to replace it so I maintain it.

    I hate that bag of rocks with a passion. Everytime I try to clean it and put back in the filter, it takes a shit all over my aquarium as soon as turn it on. But thanks for the video, you seem like a really nice man

      Hey just a question how often should I clean this filter for my 245litre tank?

    • @Bullboy_Adventures
      @Bullboy_Adventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@magnuscarlsen724 sorry man, I don't know. I never had a tank that big. But for the filter in my 10 gallon tank, I clean it once a month

      Take the Bag of Matrix, shake well underwater in a large bowl or small bucket.
      Occasionally use a Turkey Baster to drain the Filter Chamber.
      A 55 Tidal holds a little more than 5 cups of Water.
      Set the Flow to its Slowest when restarting the Filter and leave it that way for the first few minutes.

    but I don’t get this..
    how can it be done in the kitchen sink .. No please NO!

    • @Eclectic-Human
      @Eclectic-Human  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well you clean your sink don't ya? With all the other crap that goes into a kitchen sink, I worry about contaminating the tank lol.

      Using the Sink as a Work Station.
      I heard him say he had "a Bucket of TANK Water."
      The Sink handles any Splashes or Spills.
