I am a 60 yr old woman. I have by NO means been a saint much of my life, yet this interview left me with a heavy heart and in tears. A room full of people cheering over a woman pleasuring a dozen men in a night?? Now dead at 66. I wonder how many of those "friends" she spoke of will offer to pay for a funeral for her. So sad.

I am no prude. But I do think this woman had zero shame and I don't know what that comes from or if it is something maybe wrong. I just found her matter of fact statement of what she was doing unsettling. The fact groupies do what they do is one thing....one so proud of it? That is that weird thing

@@marklittle8805 Perhaps You're right about not all Bipolar are promiscuous but I wouldn't say she was Naive. She never striked me as such. She was obviously very sexualy active and was very determined to become a famous groupie at all cost. She was not some dumb B****, She graduated from high school and got her self a degree. She owned her own home. She lived her life in her own terms and never with regrets. It would make no sense to not be proud. She met many famous people and got to hang with them not just sex. I admired the fact that she could have chosen to get pregnant by a rich star and be supported by him but she knew that was mercenary and she didn't believe in that. As she once said...."Many Girls would kill to be were i am" and I believe it! Especially back in the 70s. One thing is for sure, nobody should judge her. If she found God in her last days that would be amazing and if not, well that was her destiny. I still hope she is R.i.p⚘

He always spoke of her positively and considered her a friend and he would fight anyone at the drop of a hat who spoke negatively about her in his presence. He never took her up on her many offers for head which she said if you ever change your mind you know how to find me! He looked for her and those that knew her on social media for years before her death and no one knew where she was or how to get in touch with her. I had hoped he would find her and find her in good health and wealth. Sadly that's the reality of that life. That interview drops a few clues as she admits to having no family and talks mostly about being close with them and being friends with them. I've had a lot of female friends like that and sadly they have all said the same thing. They use sex to get friends but it really isnt about the sex to them. It's about the sense of belonging and family. Sure there some who aren't lacking in personal love or affection in their lives and they really enjoy what they do. As far as her lasting friendships with these people, I really would be curious to see what would happen if she asked Don Henley for a favor.

Joan was a whole lot better than some others I've seen interviewing groupies, but the judgment and the devaluing and the condescension was still there. There's something about Connie that is so sweet and endearing and genuine, and I wish that came through more in the questions - I wish she'd asked more about what she loves about the music and musicians instead of the sort of demeaning "gotcha" questions about who does she spend thanksgiving with... None of what she does means she doesn't have closer friends in town.

During half time several of us went with her and she showed us her collection of concert memorabilia and actual pictures of her in action. She was always really nice. These are all your own assumptions and conclusions, so perhaps you'd like to think extra hard about that. I merely pointed out that she doesn't seem to have had any deep connections with other beings, though she claims to have made a lot of "friends". Are they truly friends though? Her clothes appeared to be on a school teacher's budget. I think she must have been addicted to the sense of power that she had over these famous men in those moments. This life would be hard physically, since drugs and partying go together. What relationship would work with anyone under these circumstances? I must comment here, for her parents have gotten an unfair tag. Her dad was a quiet and kind man of Syrian descent that worked in a small automotive shop in No. Little Rock. He took ALOT of guff from coworkers & anyone that noted his last name bc of Connie’s antics. Her mom was affiliated with Elvis staff in some administrative way & was fairly indulgent of her daughter’s hyperactive bent. I witnessed the fam during visits since we went to school together during jr high school. Connie stood out in school for being very loud with her voice and laughter, yet, as has been said, she was polite and engaging. She had few close friends during the time that we attended school & would sometimes hang out. Her energy could be overpowering. By the time that her dad passed, & there was only continued & heightened press covering her groupie status, she & her mom had been estranged for some time. After I’d been in another state for some yrs, but returned to Little Rock, Connie & I crossed paths in a restaurant in the late 80’s & took a couple hours to catch up with each other. Upon a later visit to the restaurant, a server asked how well I knew Connie & offered that she had a history of being disruptive when drinking & had been banned. I’d heard this at another restaurant/bar also. So- Connie had years of issues with impulse control & could be her own worst enemy. The chance to peep the inner workings of rock came at a price where she admitted that the band members that got her favors were never around to massage her back or offer support when needed.

Sounds like Connie spent her dying days with minimal, if any, interactions with her rock scene "friends". She did not die truly happy. Sin and corruption destroy people emotionally.

Why is the abuse of a 15 year old applauded - poor girl

    • @flipperhansen5600

So a 15 or 16 year old girl sneaks backstage with the sole purpose giving herself away, actually begging for it and you say they’re abusing her? And you say “poor girl”? I guess that’s the difference between 1971 and 2021.

I’m actually wondering if she was sexually abused when she was a child that would explain a lot of her lack of self respect and pride for her body.

@@MsAggie78 Not disagreeing, but I’m curious how you would know this? From what I’ve learned about childhood sexual abuse this would explain a lot of the ease with which she was able to mentally go to a place where she felt enough lack of emotion to perform this act to the level that she did.

I have had numerous girls/women (including some friend's wives) tell me that the biggest COMPLIMENT you can pay a woman is to offer her money/drugs for sex. It is a HUGE turn-on. Has nothing to do with being broke or abused. Just like preacher's wives and daughters being super horny. Not a myth. Just toned down a little once AIDS reared it's ugly head (and is a way overblown issue).

Who am i or anyone else to judge her. She lived the life she wanted and that’s good for her. She was brutally honest and didn’t care what people thought, wish we could all be like that these days when more often than not you are vilified for having your opinion.
