I think a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow diamond in the mid. This would favor a more positional approach while playing Salah and Nunez up front, this would give Arnold and Roberston the chance to play up while the centre mids drop back. I think attacking mid can rotate between, Diaz, Szoboszlai, and Jota depending on who you're playing. Pivot could change between Mac Allister and Thiago. My opinion of course.
In Xabi's system, the solution is clear - play a front 2 instead of a 3. Use Szobo as a 10, covering and interchanging with Alexander-Arnold. Salah right forward, with literally any of gakpo/nunez/Diaz/jota to his left. The double pivot could consist of Macallister + Gravenburch for example. What I like about this system is it offers a lot of positional versatility throughout the 90 minutes. The only downside is that, in relation to this current Liverpool squad, the depth is in the forward and midfield options, the defense is lacking in depth, which makes it hard to justify sacrificing a current forward/midfielder, for a defender, in order to play a different, fresher, tactical system.
in the Xabi system you could easily have Szobozlai in the supporting role because youve essentially got 2 elite playmakers on the right hand side which would undoubtedly create space for other players but also provide a huge amount of attacking threat along the right half of the pitch. Szobo also has played as a wide midfielder before and shows a strong level of competence in dribbling and high pace along with a strong finishing ability
i hope another 5 years of klopp just until Salah and VVD (probably Ali too) retirements ceremony at Anfield. after that, i wish either De Zerbi or Xabi would take over. i would ride that highs and lows.

Winning CL, PL, finishing 2nd with the highest number of points from any league (97), doing the double 2 years ago (couldve been a quadruple with more luck). 2 CL Final in the recent years... That is honnestly disrespecting Liverpool at that point. And I'm not even à Liverpool fan.
am thoroughly expecting Xabi Alonso's next steps in management to be sort of a mirror image of his playing career - Bayern Munich will give him a job, his success there will make him a shoe-in for Real Madrid, then onto Liverpool and finishing up back at Real Sociedad, basically a returning hero who only enhances his reputation at each of them
All that research and no mention of pep lijnders is mad to me. That’s how it was done in the shankly days passing the torch to paisley and I can see klopp and Liverpool deciding to return to that tradition. The man knows the team inside out and takes control of cup games too
16:16 That is because you didn't watch Leverkusen last season, so you don't remember that Xabi used to have a fast-paced left-footed right winger playing together with Jeremie Frimpong: Moussa Diaby. Diaby didn't play a support defensive role, our "right wing" is playing different this season because we have two 10's on the wings, instead of actual wingers. When we did play with actual wingers, the "Jeremoussa" duo carried our team, with 9G/8A for Diaby and 8G/7A for Frimpong. Xabi potentialized Diaby making the French do a Salah-esque run, running from the right flank to the right half-space, carrying the ball to shot with his left foot. Also, making TAA mirror Frimpong's play is kinda of a waste too, as Jeremie stays so high on the pitch that he doesn't need to participate on the play making, he just stays forward, waits the ball, runs really fast and creates danger. Plus, you repeatedly said that Alexander-Arnold loves to go into the right half-space, which is something Frimpong doesn't do at all, as he had Moussa Diaby and now Jonas Hofmann to occupy that space for him, obviously doing different roles on that area.
Xabi Alosno would be the most sensible choice for Liverpool but, once Carlo Ancelotti leaves, Real Madrid will surely approach him with the job offer which would be really difficult for him to turn down...😅
The next Liverpool manager should be..... Jurgen Klopp Xabi Alonso is one of my favorite players but it is widely known he wants the Real Madrid job, it would be a heartbreak for him to leave after a year or two.
Perfect analysis of a hypothetical situation which will come to rise at some point in the future. Question is, where will these three candidates be when that day arrives? Alonso seems the best pick of the bunch at the moment. No matter what, Klopp will definitely want to sign off with a bang before he departs.
Great vid but tactically part 3 was super weak, which is odd coming from Jon. Szoboszlai in a double-pivot with Alexis? Saying the team would miss someone to play "as Wirtz", with Mac Allister and Szobo (and Gakpo) on the squad? Odd, odd.
i dont think the players we have will be a problem with a new manager, we have a defence that could end up as a 5 back with the fullbacks obviously being good offensively, we could play with dm’s and with 10’s in midfield or a flat 3 then the forwards we have 3 players who can play striker and 2 who can play out wide. Basically what im saying is we have players who can play in any position, its not like we NEED to play this current system its just thats what klopp likes so we do it
Great analysis. Hmm, I'd take RdZ or Alonso, but I'm of the mind Brighton wouldn't let RdZ go to a Premier League rival (yes, they do currently have the status to declare that). He's also a bit of a walking red card. Alonso, I'd be worried he'd be the sentimental pick but can't argue he's doing great things with Leverkusen and would probably shade it for me. Nagelsmann's star has faded somewhat. Any of the three have big boots to fill.
@@aotea6983De Zerbi has famously made his opinions about "bigger" clubs public. Can we have Pep please. Think he would be a really good manager. He is a wonderful communicator, develops good relationships with players and has a deep understanding of the game. Pep would be amazing, yea Pep Lijnders
I understand that you did this to get viewers, but at no point has Klopp announced that he is leaving. He might as well sign a new contract, so speculation about a new coach is pointless.
Definition disagree about the winger point for Xabi as an option. Salah is more than capable with supporting those around him. He’s got 9 goal contributions in the league, one of the best in Europe, and it’s a near even split of 5g/4a. Now Diaz might not fit the same profile, however Xabi surely would adapt his style to Klopp’s current style of play and make use of the players at his disposal
Obviously, I hate the idea of Klopp leaving. But if Xabi isn’t available (like, say, if he goes to Real Madrid) I do wonder if Pep Lijnders would be next choice.

would szoboslai not be a good option in the wurtz role? or hoffman role with salah and nunez as two forwards. Gakpo and jota could do the same. Then gravenberch or someone else can fill in with macallister making the midfield more balanced?
Great video as per usual! The only thing I would say is I think Xabi Alonso is going to be the Real Madrid manager next season. Even if he was to become Liverpool manager I think he would tweak his tactics to make sure the wingers flourish, as they have abundance of attacking talent on the wings. Nunez, Diaz, Jota etc. This would better suit the the rigours of the Premier League, which is of course different to the Bundesliga, and he would be coaching the great players he would have at his disposal (rather than having to buy a whole new attack).
Good video but I don't think Klopp will be going anywhere now that he has a fantastic young side, with more signings to come, and also the possibility that Pep may leave and give us a few years of peace! I think he would like a few more EPL titles for the ones we were cheated out of and another UCL for the finals where we lost to Madrid....here's hoping! YNWA! ❤💯👍
think szoboszlai whould be perfect for that left forward role where hes got that freedom similar to the role he plays for hungary and then can have a jones macalister double pivot. as for the salah issue i think trent is very different to frimpong and wont be used in the exact same way. trent would be the one droping into midfield offering support whilst salah gets into the box. at the end of the day xabi would be amazing for us and whilst klopp leaving will be awful its gonna happen at some point.
Seeing that Tye Athletic Club spoke abt this 3 months before Klopp's announcement that he's leaving end of the season is amazing. And right now Xabi Alonso is on everyone's lips to replace Klopp. So big ups to The Athletic Club🙌
As a Man United i can say that Klopp has been the best manager in PL in the past 8 years. He took Liverpool out of their banter era and made them relevant again, just unfortune that his time is coincidence with Pep and bottomless City
My preference for the next manager will be Inzaghi from Inter Milan. Has won trophies at Lazio and Inter with a tight budget and plays entertaining football. Plus he is both calm and tactically adept.
Under Alonso's system, you could put Szobo in either of the two wide attacking roles and allow Gravenberch or Bajcetic to operate in the double-pivot. Still though, not looking forward to Klopp leaving
Liverpool fans will want Xabi Alonso and it will be a good choice, because unlike other Premier League former iconic club players like Soljskaer, Gerrard or Lampard, who got an opportunity to manage their former teams without proving themselves in other big clubs, Xabi Alonso has been doing an amazing job at Bayern Leverkusen. He is also predestinated to become a great manager according to Mourinho's prophecy - due to his personal history as a being a son of a former manager and his experience of working as a player with the some of best managers in the world - Ancelloti, Mourinho and Guardiola.
Played Xabi ball at Liverpool in a FM save, that creativity issue is what sank it. A back 3 of Gvardiol, Konate, and Van Dijk, Andy and Robbo on the wing backs, with Trent playing further up. Nunez up front. Salah played poorly as a supportive player, and there was no creativity. CL final, FA cup final lost due to that issue. Got sacked

Well, this has become relevant much sooner than i had hoped
As an American, who only got into football a few years ago, these videos have seriously upped my IQ. Thank you, and Walk On!
I come from the future … jurgen klopp will resign from liverpool at the end of the season
in the Xabi system you could easily have Szobozlai in the supporting role because youve essentially got 2 elite playmakers on the right hand side which would undoubtedly create space for other players but also provide a huge amount of attacking threat along the right half of the pitch. Szobo also has played as a wide midfielder before and shows a strong level of competence in dribbling and high pace along with a strong finishing ability
i hope another 5 years of klopp
just until Salah and VVD (probably Ali too) retirements ceremony at Anfield.
after that, i wish either De Zerbi or Xabi would take over.
i would ride that highs and lows.
you should watch fiorentina for a Mo salah replacement.
Im not very concinced by de zerbi tbh
@@nn-yi4xn u referring to gonzalez yea?
@@vendexa5840 yea, need him to be consistent for next 3 season.
@@schneeraizor7020 _ no, I'm thinking Jonathan Ikone, or Armand Laurentie ,speed, pace, dribbling , go to goal, goal threat.
I'm really looking at italy in general when thinking of a salah replacement idea.
You could also play Salah as the ‘traditional striker’ in Alonso’ system. Especially as he gets older and can’t rely less on his pace as much.
7:02 Dani Olmo plays for RB Leipzig, not Bayern😂
1:20 Liverpool's system was not Good enough to compete at the highest level. What a phenomenal joke.
Klopp will definitely want to leave on a high note. I don't see him leaving next summer.
😂 Okay.
@@oslonorway547 ?
@@EvieWillNotDie He is leaving as we speak 😂
@@oslonorway547 he is doing much better this year than most expected, seems he thinks he'll leave on a high
@@EvieWillNotDie You "didn't see him leaving next summer." 😅 Okay.
am thoroughly expecting Xabi Alonso's next steps in management to be sort of a mirror image of his playing career - Bayern Munich will give him a job, his success there will make him a shoe-in for Real Madrid, then onto Liverpool and finishing up back at Real Sociedad, basically a returning hero who only enhances his reputation at each of them
All that research and no mention of pep lijnders is mad to me.
Mates , who came back to rewatch the video again 😅
Wasn't Mac Allister playing a covering role behind Messi in the World Cup final? Seems he could do the same thing for TAA
David Moyse would be a great addition 🎉
That will Be a strong change in defence.
Wilson back at his former club,
Buy Leao in winter!
Xabi Alosno would be the most sensible choice for Liverpool but, once Carlo Ancelotti leaves, Real Madrid will surely approach him with the job offer which would be really difficult for him to turn down...😅
The next Liverpool manager should be..... Jurgen Klopp
Xabi Alonso is one of my favorite players but it is widely known he wants the Real Madrid job, it would be a heartbreak for him to leave after a year or two.
Perfect analysis of a hypothetical situation which will come to rise at some point in the future.
Question is, where will these three candidates be when that day arrives?
Alonso seems the best pick of the bunch at the moment.
No matter what, Klopp will definitely want to sign off with a bang before he departs.
Hey so um
He can just play Szobo higher on the right and Diaz on the left with Macca and Gravenberch/Endo/Bajetic in the double pivot
I genuinely believe that spaletti plays the most similar style to klopp and could do the most with the players at the club
Great vid but tactically part 3 was super weak, which is odd coming from Jon. Szoboszlai in a double-pivot with Alexis? Saying the team would miss someone to play "as Wirtz", with Mac Allister and Szobo (and Gakpo) on the squad? Odd, odd.
Olmo is not a Bayern Player
i dont think the players we have will be a problem with a new manager, we have a defence that could end up as a 5 back with the fullbacks obviously being good offensively, we could play with dm’s and with 10’s in midfield or a flat 3 then the forwards we have 3 players who can play striker and 2 who can play out wide. Basically what im saying is we have players who can play in any position, its not like we NEED to play this current system its just thats what klopp likes so we do it
You lost me at the first tactic! I’m going to have to play this in slow mode!! Keep these coming though the enthusiasm is contagious!!
Not sure how much say a club really has if a manager wants to leave
@@aotea6983De Zerbi has famously made his opinions about "bigger" clubs public. He is incredibly anti-football conglomerates and prefers smaller team structures where he feels closer to the players and able to establish connections with fans. He would more than likely not want to leave, let alone force his way out
Can we have Pep please. Think he would be a really good manager. He is a wonderful communicator, develops good relationships with players and has a deep understanding of the game. Pep would be amazing, yea Pep Lijnders
The more pressing question than "who after Klopp" is "how do you replace Salah's output when he leaves next summer?".
Pep lijnders? There was a talk of succession planning with him next in line.
Pls do a video about which teams in europe have the best players atm in terms of squad quality, depth and so ob
I'm praying that germany win something so nagelsman get an extention and klopp stays!!
Who’s here after Klopp announced he’s leaving 🥲🥲
Me
Obviously, I hate the idea of Klopp leaving. But if Xabi isn’t available (like, say, if he goes to Real Madrid) I do wonder if Pep Lijnders would be next choice.
Man I just think Andoni Iraola is so perfect for us, hes just not ready/ don't know how good he really is. I hope he gets a few more years under his belt because man I would love to see him at a big club
would szoboslai not be a good option in the wurtz role? or hoffman role with salah and nunez as two forwards. Gakpo and jota could do the same. Then gravenberch or someone else can fill in with macallister making the midfield more balanced?
Would be happy with any of those, but I think Nagelsman’s narrow system would be found out against a low block. Heart says Alonso, head says De Zerbi.
Farewell, Klopp. Thank you very much 🎉
Good video but I don't think Klopp will be going anywhere now that he has a fantastic young side, with more signings to come, and also the possibility that Pep may leave and give us a few years of peace! I think he would like a few more EPL titles for the ones we were cheated out of and another UCL for the finals where we lost to Madrid....here's hoping! YNWA! ❤💯👍
Does anyone know what kind of software are the using for the tactical board?
Liverpool vs Leverkusen in the Europa league final 2024. Xabi Alonso to be announced the following day as new Liverpool boss.
think szoboszlai whould be perfect for that left forward role where hes got that freedom similar to the role he plays for hungary and then can have a jones macalister double pivot. as for the salah issue i think trent is very different to frimpong and wont be used in the exact same way. trent would be the one droping into midfield offering support whilst salah gets into the box. at the end of the day xabi would be amazing for us and whilst klopp leaving will be awful its gonna happen at some point.
Salah is gonna be gone before Alonso would arrive
Well, this aged well...
I'm an American and this channel teaches me so much about the game lol.
I thought I had this video on 1.5 speed. Jesus, take a breath my man.
I think he’ll choose to stick around longer - team spirit is high and i know he loves the new additions who are still super young.
Hopefully not for a long time but Lijnders or Postecoglou it's will be one of these I guarentee it.
In Xabi’s system just play Szobo in Salah’s place, Mac Allister Gravenberch duo
Great video.
Very good understanding of playing systems as well as player profiles and roles.
Keep on going !
We cannot replace him
Here again....Who would have guessed...26th Jan 2024, Klopp announced him leaving Liverpool t the end of the season.....
Got sacked
