How to Cook Akple (Ewokple) | The Most Authentic Ewe Swallow | The Best Corn Meal Swallow Recipe

Ewokple is a unique Ghanaian dish from the Volta region consisting of corn flour, water, and salt. The combination of these ingredients is usually rolled into a ball. Ewokple is often served with a flavourful okra soup known as fetri detsi or a tasty Anchovies Stew known as Abobi Tadi.
This is how to cook Akple (Ewokple)
Corn Meal Swallow (Ewokple )
Ingredients
1. Cornmeal
2. Salt
How to
1. Mix a portion of cornmeal and water in a bowl to make cornmeal solution
2. In a pan on medium heat, boil some water with a pinch of salt.
3. Add cornmeal solution to boiling water, cook for 10- 15 mins stirring consistently to make cornmeal porridge
4. Once cooked pour some of the cornmeal porridge into a bowl and set aside for later.
5. Next, add a substantial amount of cornmeal to the portion of cornmeal porridge in the pan.
6. Paddle/Stir with a wooden spatula consistently getting rid of lumps. Do this for 10 to 15 mins.
7. If at any point consistency seems to thick, add some cornmeal porridge to reduce thickness
8. Cover and let steam cook food for 5 to 7 mins.
9. Paddle/stir for 5 mins.
