Those are so gorgeous begonias! I'm glad you decided to tissue culture them to make more of those beautiful plants! The way you present your content is so mezmorizing and make me to want to do the tissue culture ! I have to say you have inspired me to do it! However currently don't have the space to do it may be in future! I am a microbiologist by practice and all of your content is so interesting to me. Thanks very much for making these videos ! Can you do more of the begonias as well! Thanks for sharing have a great holiday season.
Another great video! I am in the process of building my home lab and I find your content to be extremely helpful. I can’t wait to get my flow hood built and everything finalized. Let’s collaborate and trade some cool plants in the future. Thanks again for everything you do!
You are so good at making science understandable and attractive. Once upon a time, this was also my business - molecular immunology. But I've always dreamed of cultivating plant tissues. I will definitely try, especially since I now have a greenhouse of tropical species, some rare, and it will be a great experience. Besides, let me tell you that you are a very beautiful, funny, real little witch, only kind.
Thank you so much for your fantastic video! I loved watching it. Could you let me know where I can find the container that appears around the 8-second mark? I’d really appreciate it!
This is so exciting, I guess I'll have to save some money to get some lab equipment :D edit: was a pleasure hearing u nerd about your beloved plants for 10 minutes straight :)
I've used the fluval stratum for different aquarium plants. Great stuff! Right no I am into cacti and succelents. I have a bunch of San Pedro cacti right now. I really need to thin things out. :) Can you tissue culture cacti?
so here's a really weird question : could you setup a very non-sterile version of this in an aquaponics setup where the plant would be waterboarded a few times a day by aquarium water dripping over it?? Or would this literally just be pouring water on the plant and watching it disintegrate. I ask because I have an automated aquaponics setup in my basement and it would be easy enough to plumb a little 3d printed drip tower into the thing.
Still can't get any live tissue to be sterile. Done everything to the T in all the videos, but everytime it's instantly contaminated. I premake the vials, so the media/container is sterile but the plant tissue always has something on it rotting or something from the cleaning that it brings in.
Hey! Love your content. I am brand new and will be mixing up my first batch of PTC for philodendrons today. I have a question about this video. at 3:19 you show that you are doing your final tissue transfer to new media so the plants can get bigger before you acclimate them to soil, but you didn't mention the final media recipe. was it different than the last 2? More of the rooting hormone maybe?
It was the same as the previous 2. Begonias grow easily in TC, sometimes even with no PGRs. For rooting philodendrons I'd just use 0.5mg/L BAP and 1.0mg/L IBA
@plantsinjars ahh OK I see. And for the vegetative stage (by that I mean the first culture) for philodendrons would it be 1 ml BAP, and 1 ml NAA? (I don't have IBA)
@@buckbeaksgarden761 1mg/L BAP, 0.5mg/L IBA. NAA doesn't work well for philodendrons bc it causes a lot of callus growth, which is not what you're looking for
Hey I’ve been getting into monstera sports (mutations) I was wondering if you’ve possibly tried forcing mutations in tissue culture and if that’s even a possibility? Great video:)
Hey, I need your help! I have seen your videos also how you mentioned before about callusing from leaf explant. I'm working on a papaya plant and using it's immature and mature leaves for callusing. I have used all reported PGRs on different concentrations but no PGR is helping in callus induction. Its been 4 weeks and still there is no callus. What could be the reason and how to induce callus in this situation? 😢
Hi my name is Joe and i am from Ohio, Me and my family come to florida every year in February for 2 weeks. My dad and my uncle went to the Fbi training in Washington D.C. When i first come upon your tissue culture videos on youtube i been watching your videos every day. I have learned a lot from you. The question i has i had bought two micropipettes 100-1000ul and 1-10ml are they both the same thing? What does 100-1000ul mean? Is ul the same thing as in litters? How do they work in volum? You just turn the nobe on top?
@thatboyzerk1680 I've spent hours trying to find a protocol for a particular species, with no success. I guess my next best option is to find a protocol for the same Genus and experiment based on that.
Hola, me encantan tus vídeos , aprendo mucho, me gustaría mucho que hicieras un vídeo sobre como reproducir adenium o flor del desierto un vitro, gracias, eres muy inspiradora
Amazon IS slave labour! And they sell the exact same thing as Amazon and everyone else. One is no better than the other, if you want to take a moral stance, only buy LOCALLY MADE.
I have been boycotting amazon for 5 years at least... they are straight up evil. Think about all the local businesses they have destroyed. I have become self aware how evil globalism is, do your research. @@3self
Potatoes are totally possible to do from tc! A lot of the early research in tc was done with potatoes (as well as things like carrots and tobacco..) because they respond well and grow fast in vitro
Begonias >>>>>>>> other plants PERIOD I could hear u talking about begonias forever, i got like 6 different begonias and now im holding back but i really want to do a begonia wall.
I really want to pick up this skill but I have never had indoor plants so it's highly likely that I'd murder an army plants for sure plus I don't even know if I'd able to maintain a sterile space to do this

Have you ever just kept your plants fed with worm castings. Then… Just pulled off a part of the plant and just stick it into a small jar of worm castings? I like how you science the shit out of it. I bet your plants wouldn’t be allowed to hang out with my plants. My plants would be too dirty, unvaccinated and well hardy and wild. Do your test tube babies have names or do you just refer to them as specimen # yawdy yawdy. Totally jk. Seriously though cool work.

SERIOUSLY MY NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL!!
We use filtered containers and have great results. There is no build up of gas. It's the same filters Francisco uses on the bio couplers.
Hello friend 🌱. I start every morning when I look at the plants.

As soon as I set up a small laboratory in Italy and have structures, I will buy your begonias, they are very beautiful.

can any plant be tissue cultured using its leaf
Awesome! Thanks Laur, this gives me hope to try begonias again lol! I think the last few tries i was a bit heavy handed with the pgr's.... 😅
I've watched most of your videos, but none of them give links for the round jars and lids you use. Would you mind addi g that information?

I love begonias and am new to tissue culture, could their multiplication step be done in the biocoupler?
yes 👍🏼
Im new to this space and am wondering how to know whether the leaf vs the stem/node is best for TC?
Depends on whatever protocol you’re following

We're all sick 😫 Hope you propagate some Helper T cells to fight off the cold. ❤ Came for the plants, stayed for the eyes. And plants.
Can tissue culture be made from any part of banana including banana hand end???
Totipotent cells 😂😂😂 the way she says it 😂
What would you say is the safest PGRs?
The ones that occur naturally. Zeatin, kinetin, IAA

What jars are you using please?
How much light intensity required?
How did u cut the begonia on the paper towel? How did you get it sterile.
