Yes, the TC5 is the best top loading washer: (1) the drum is fixed and the agitator moves, which provides a more aggressive wash and rinse cycle than every other Speed Queen washer where the agitator is fastened to the spin basket (2) it has a Deep Fill option, so the tub actually fills with water to about 95% capacity (v. about 70% or less max for all three TR models) (3) it has a 15-year warranty on the transmission, and (4) it has a lifetime warranty on both the inner and outer drums. The one downside is the TC5 uses ONLY cold water for the RINSE cycle (i.e., you can't select warm water for the rinse cycle like you can on the TR7). Just one correction to your video: the motor is 1/2 horsepower, not 1 hp. But that is still plenty of power.
If you have an actual family that has children and construction clothes, you name it. It's the best on the market and easily fixed. I do 25 loads a week with 6 in my family. 3 yrs old running strong.
I decided to get a new washer last fall. I was sick of dealing with a “high efficiency “ washer with the impeller. Not an efficient or an effective machine. Went to a local appliance store and bought a Speed Queen TC5. I love it!!
I dont think the new speed queens are as good as old ones. They qoute 25 years life expectancies but i have seen several that are less then 3 years old with major issues. Happy to send pics if you want to see
As an amateur tech, I've seen similar. Their head company, ALS, was bought out by an investment banking company around a decade ago, so I think the bean counters are starting to get their way. I think for top loaders, Speed Queen is still better built than the rest, if you've got the money. For front loaders, I've moved onto LG front loaders for now, the only issues I see with them is their dampers might need replacing after a few years, but very easy to swap and they build them in Tennessee.
I had two of their machines, both of which lasted under 2 years before problems. I feel like 2015-17 was SQ’s best run. After that they went down, then went way down in 2021
@@anfernyjackson9013 I am only one person, but I have had an LG front loader for almost 8 years and it works well and has had no issues. I'm hoping to get some more years out of it.
I'm currently in the blueprint stage of design, for a 1 bedroom home to be built inside my metal garage building and have been looking at and watching video's on new appliances. I've decided to get Speed Queens and am very happy that you have them available. I am in NW Denton County (Texas) bout 30 miles from the Texas / Oklahoma border. If I can't get someone with a large truck to come pick them up, how much for delivery and installation to 76266 zipcode?
Still rolling with my 1987 Maytag top loader. Bought for $100, 8 years ago with matching dryer. I did replace the damper pads, otherwise nothing. They were made to last!
I have 6 in family from 2 to 40. Construction clothes, nursing scrubs, kids clothes, blankets pillows, shoes, ect.. 25 loads a weeks and it doesn't walk like my old one, and is super quiet. Ridiculously better, but almost 2x the price. Worth it? Yesssss! Helll yeessss! And works great on a generator when power is out!
Keep in mind that the reason these machines don't walk is because they have one of the lowest spin speeds in the industry - 710 RPM. That's slower than a car engine idles, and absolutely pitiful that in 2024 people are buying these old boat-anchor toploaders and thinking they got "the best appliance ever", when in reality these are machines designed for apartment complexes and shared use, where "actual cleaning performance" is absolutely not even one of the metrics considered when purchasing, and "cost to dry the still-wet clothes" also doesn't matter because that's a fixed cost that can be reliably built into the cost they charge the end user for each use of the machines (and shared use dryers are probably often natural gas). If you dry all of that laundry in an electric dryer (which I imagine you do, since Americans get a fake sense of freedom and "I'm not poor, look how much I can spend boiling water out of clothes and blowing all that energy out of a 4" hole in the wall!") you're looking at about $23,750 in excess electricity usage over the life of those Low-Speed Queens! This is what's keeping people in america poor and the corporations rich - gluttonously inefficient and underwhelmingly designed appliances, vehicles, etc.
@@s.linn5086 yeagh sweetie you are wrong in almost every way. Here's why you are wrong. 1- it has a better balanced frame and barrel management than my old digital everything Kenmore. 2- obviously you dont work for a living so let me explain that when you actually get dirty( concrete, sand, metal filings, chemicals, solvents, ect.) High speed spinning does not get your close clean. You need cold water to prevent chemical activation which will destroy the carbon based fibers, aswell as the gasket seals of the cheap machine you buy. Low and slow with agitation. Common knowledge guy. That's a standard of commercial equipment. Not just for glitter spandex like you got hidden away. 3- the clothes just spin a little long to get just as dry. Higher speed dries faster, not better. Dry is dry. 4- the transmission alone is worth the money, and I use the thing constantly. So you are just being a whiner and lashing out. Because my electricity bill is 11% lower year in total aswell as this model only has a 800watt motor. The transmission does the magic. Unlike the cheaper brands this is true variable voltage and amperage motor coupled into a multi gear line transmission. Means smooth! Do you understand now sweetie?

If they fail within their warranty period SQ is obligated to repair or even replace. I’ve been washing with Speed Queen for over 30 years now. My current machine is almost 18 years old and I have spent money to replace the hot water solenoid, a new drain hose and new brakes over the past couple of years. Yes, you can save money on laundry cost by buying a very expensive Speed Queen but not the first day.
