That broke me when Kristina took ambers kids all night to give her a break and then amber cancelled group plans for the next day and took Leah and left her kid with Kristina, that was awful. Kristina is seriously an angel. Gary and Leah are soooo blessed to have her

Amber has not clearly worked thru her trauma& resentments and guilt. Maybe instead of searching for relationships with men, she works on the one with herself. Take some of that MTV money & get some therapy.

Is he even a qualified doctor? As he's unethical at the best of times. I watch from the UK and I'm shocked at what he says/asks sometimes. Even how he reacts.

It’s so sad to see how gradually Amber lost Leah’s trust. She slowly ended up pushing her away. You can tell she has formed her own opinion of Amber based on her own actions. Leah is such a brilliant little girl, Gary and Kristina have done an amazing job. Leah will resent her unfortunately and that relationship will take so much work to repair. All in all I will always root for Amber, I know she is capable , she just has work to do.
Always had time to get A be boyfriend but didn’t have no time to fix her relationship with her daughter first and now Leah is old enough to make her on decisions and opinions on the situation with amber and fortunately she’s always had her bonus mom to grow and mature with and now Leah’s made her opinions known ... it’s kristinas fault!!! lol
Very well said and absolutely agree. I'm sure Leah slowly lost trust in her mother by Amber being so inconsistent in her visitations and spending quality time with her and I'm sure she's more confused now that Amber has had a baby and is there for that baby, from what we see on this show and Leah is probably wondering why she wasn't good enough for her mother to do the same for her but I do wish Leah and her mother to be able to mend their relationship, talk about how Leah feels and one day be tightly bonded and that's alot of hard work that Amber will have to put into her daughter. Kristina is an absolute Godsend in that precious little girls life and although she didn't birth her, she's carried over where Amber left off and God sent that woman in Leah and Gary's life, moreso Leah's

The reason Leah is like that now is because she is at that age when everything’s matters and she see all this shit on social media as do her friends
It's insane how Kristina takes good care of Leah, and was also babysitting Amber's son in LA, but Amber basically just completely ignores Kristina's daughter.

You and me both! In the beginning I thought...maybe he was antagonizing? Maybe Amber was right to be annoyed with him? But after all these years I see what he put up with. Smh.
I know you guys wrote these comments like 2 years ago lol... but i just gotta say that while Gary HAS turned out to be a wonderful patient man and father(from what we have seen anyways) when he was with Amber all those years ago around and within the years of them showing up on 16 and pregnant he ABSOLUTELY would antagonize Amber.
Which.. they were both young. They were in an already hard situation with added stress of MTV etc.
Add in drug addiction, insecutity and all of Amber's mental health issues with Gary, a guy who cannot handle any of it/doesnt know how to not be toxic in such a toxic situation(to no fault of is own).. like they just were not a good fit... and I think that the whole Amber/Gary/Kristina thing is SO interesting because it really goes to show how the people we decide to have as a "partner" can and will change us. Gary could not grow until he totally decided to be done with Amber. I could say the same for her to an extent also, though it was less conscious on her part.
Im just saying that both things CAN be true; Gary did antagonize Amber in the past all those years ago AND he has also turned out to be a wonderfully patient man.
Some people grow + heal while others simply never will be able to.
Gary has (seemingly) grown as a man and a father and husband and I think a great deal of that has to do with him being with Kristina. I would also bet that Gary has had therapy with a GOOD and COMPETENT therapist to help him work through everything.
Amber IS hard to deal with. She probably always will be hard to deal with. I say this because i actually have borderline personality disorder and can relate to Amber on MANY levels. Admittedly i am ALSO very hard to deal with at times and I know it. But the more you/we all know and accept about ourselves, the more you/we all can do to change those things! I do not excuse or justify Amber's actions, but i understand how hard it is to have to constantly fight the fact that you are naturally always in a "survival, fight mode"...
Those of us with BPD also UNINTENTIONALLY mirror others more often than not(because many of us partially or completely lack a sense of self/our identity) this is another reason why Amber and Gary never would have worked in this situation as it started and actually was. because they/their personality types are both far too impressionable in a relationship to not cause a clusterfuck especially when neither of them had a good foundation to begin with.

Probably on account of being none of those things. He's an addiction specialist who is literally only hired to be a host and mediator. He's not there to give advice or help them, he's there to ask questions and get them talking to each other. He's no different to someone like Maury...

Amber always turns the conversation back to herself, her feelings, her wants, her relationship with Leah. I notice it mostly when she's talking to Christina. For example when they went to pick up Leah from school, Amber was talking about Gary and Christina's relationship and then suddenly said, "I just want to be here for Leah's moments." Again when Leah learned how to shave, Christina said she was glad they had that experience together and Amber responded, "Yea I like being here, it's important to me she knows I'm here and I experience these moments with her so she remembers me being there." She is narcissistic.

Leah is such a smart girl! As she has gotten older she is realizing the person her mother is. It’s sad but, I’m glad she can see it for herself at that age. Kristina is a great person and Leah is lucky to have her. Amber has no one to blame but herself for her situation with Leah.

I agree. I don’t think she’s a terrible person she’s just very emotional about things. I have been in a similar situation with drug addiction and it’s not easy trying to make up for all the mistakes u have made in the past. She needs to chill out tho and stop getting so angry coz that isn’t gonna fix anything. She just has to sit and listen to Leah and let Leah get it all of her chest. Trust takes time to rebuild. Hopefully she will get there.
Gary truly is an amazing father and man. The fact he offered to build something for Leah to save money and be closer to their child. He’ll always love her and look after her, but he is so much better off without her and he knows that. But he also knows he can help which he won’t stop doing. So sweet.

Ambers personality didn’t change throughout the entire time she was on the show. Always miserable, always the victim, and always having to make everything about herself and her feelings. Gary and Kristina balance out her crazy enough for Leah to have a normal childhood.

I think Gary and Kristina are terrific parents but one thing I really think they need to have a lot of these conversations without the children in the room. A lot of people don't realize how much kids are hearing and absorbing. Even if they seem distracted and playing with toys, they're still listening.

I have BEEN that 12 year old. I have been Leah. I can tell you that THIS right here, is what made Leah give up on Amber. Leah was just SO excited at the idea of having Amber live basically next door to Gary. When Amber said that it would be nice to be closer to Leah, BUT, her precious privacy!!! When she said BUT, I saw Leah's heart just drop. This moment right here was the straw that broke the camel's back! Leah has given up on Amber entirely at this point, and I don't see any way to reverse the damage. Kristina is that kid's mother, and Leah is so lucky to have her!

I understand Amber was upset about Kristina, but she needed to put her big girl pants on, and walked her daughter into that school. Also, if it wasn't for Kristina, Leah would have had a hardly there mom, and that's sad, so I'm glad she started appreciating the role Kristina took in Leah's life.

I'm pretty sure Leah or Gary asked Kristina to be there because in the end she's the one who's been there for Leah all the time. I'd be glad if my child had a stepmother who would wish my daughter well on her first day of school because that means she cares about her. If anything were to happen to me, I'd know she'd be safe with her. It would be a concern if they all live in one house and she would not show up.... Very telling....

She acts like it’s Kristina’s fault her relationship with her daughter is fractured. She also acts like it’s Kristina’s responsibility to fix it. Ambien amber is just not able to handle that Kristina is the better mother figure and Leah realizes that. Amber needs to take accountability and work to repair her relationship, not blame Kristina for being a better mother than what she is or what she has.

To this day Amber will not take responsibility for being an absentee mother. She thinks because she pops in every few months for a couple hours and she is certain they are bonded. Coming from someone who is in Kristinas place, Leah is so blessed to have her. It is a HARD job to help raise a child who's "mother" is only around when she wants to be and expects everything to be normal. And so unappreciative to the woman who is actually RAISING Leah, teaching her how to be a young lady. It's so hard to be the "step mom" when you are truly a mother.

Girl, yes!!! I'm in the same place too except our daughter is now 30. I was the one who invested in her as a child, I was there when she got married, I helped her deliver her second baby, I'm the grandma her 03 kids look to. I even took her bio mom to a woman's Christmas dinner our church had. I sometimes wish her bio mom were closer to her but tbh, sometimes I'm glad she's not because she let our daughter down so many times. I salute you and thank you for being a present mom.
Yes! I can't explain how hard it is. I am doing the same thing with three little girls. I financially and emotionally support them 99% of the time. Their mother comes around when she "has the money to get them or a place to live." It is so hard calling yourself step mom when in reality you're the mom.

Maybe it’s just me but if I went away I’d appreciate the people that kept my daughter safe, made her feel loved, and gave her the best life. Kristina has never crossed any boundaries with Amber as a matter of fact she’s done the opposite. Any female who’s in a child’s life for a long period of time is gonna be somewhat of a maternal figure. I think Amber realized that, idk how she is now but on that family reunion series she owned up to a lot of things.
I feel for Leah she’s only 12 and feel her mom doesn’t try hard enough no child should be putting more work in a relationship then the parent. Kristina is such a blessing and has done an amazing job being there for Leah she’s also done an amazing job of giving amber her place!

I was really rooting for Amber when she got out of jail . She had potential and was heading in the right direction just to end up at square one . I still pray she find peace in whatever demons she has for the sake of herself and her kids

I have mental health issues. I am also battling stage 3 cancer at 38 yr old.. however.. my 4 kids always come first. Amber has always put herself first and always will.
