Loving all your videos. Can I just say what a great captain you are. What makes you videos special is the way treat all your first officers with respect and kindness.i would be very proud if I flew with you sir.please keep the videos coming.if possible could we have the malaga sea view please captain.
Thank you so much for your very kind words! I hope to come back to Malaga soon when the wind is blowing from the land. This would enable the approach over the water. As always, it may take a while. Please stay tuned and have a great day!
@ApproachandDepartureVideos many thanks captain look forward to the malaga approach from the sea.but loving all the videos.really interesting I thankyou for your kindness also.
Interesting arrival, with managed descent instead of open descent. Brand new plane, in fleet from November 2023! Have a great weekend and thanks for the video!
One of the best aviation channels - Thanks a lot 😃 Caminito del Rey (wonderful hiking trail during a Trip to Málaga) and El Chorro 11:47 Greetings from DTM, Lukas
what a beautiful approach! and as always, excellent video and audio quality. also, thanks for the nice pictures of the area at the end of the video! granada with the alhambra is just stunning; i've been there too, well.. in 2000. i flew to malaga in a LH A300, and i think it was the last flight were i was allowed to have a jump seat ride during takeoff and landing. and wow, the airport has grown a lot since then!
Many thanks for watching, your good feedback and for sharing your personal experience. The rules in regard to the passenger flights in the cockpit changed after September, 11, 2001. Before, it was very normal to have interested passengers on the jumpseat on almost every flight during takeoff and landing. Especially on flights to scenic airports or favorite vacation destinations. The airport even added another runway. Originally, it was only runway 13/31. Now they also have an additional runway 12/30. In the video, we landed on the new runway 12.
Malaga - the only airport I have ever been to and that was in 1981! I remember the approach was rather hilly so good to see that again. The plane I flew on was a Britannia Airways 737-200 and I did get to see the cockpit! I have a photograph of me walking down the steps from the plane - there was a photographer taking pictures of everyone disembarking and when we were back at the airport 2 weeks later all of the photos were for sale and I persuaded my parents to buy mine - weird eh?
This is a cool story! It looks like that 1981 was not the time of selfies or so. So a real photographer came to the airport to take photos of all the passengers. And you were alloed to visit the cockpit during the flight. Now it is only available online.
I personally think all pilots are fantastic because if them computers fail then you must fly manually. Also infomation is coming all the time in that cockpit with noise. How you all concentrate I will never no.Now I realise why you carry a flight plan.fantastic captain and first officer.please keep them videos coming
Thanks for watching and for sharing your personal feedback! It is all a matter of training! Sure, we are able to take over manually once the computers or other systems have failed. We are trained on a regular basis for this. It is a little noisy in the cockpit and audio comes from several sources. But you learn to listen to whatever is important at the moment.
Captain, I have watched many of your videos and it appears to me that your landing technique is very consistent and you always land right on the 1000' markers.
Thanks for sharing your observation about my landings! Most of my landing are somewhere between 1000 feet and 2000 feet from the threshold. Once in a while, a landing may take a little longer to touch down. But - for sure - always in the touchdown zone. On short runways, like Samos or runways with a special slope, like Funchal runway 23, I try to touchdown very early.
Captain, my hat off to you for your excellent flying skills! Always friendly, great briefings and with a touch of humor. This was my first arrival in Malaga by cockpit travel! 😄 Never seen the area from above. Beautiful sights! And what a lovely plane the A321 NEO is. Schönen Gruß aus Belgien!
Interesting to see the MCDU with the points of the approach procedure, so that we simmers can replicate the approach on our home simulator. Thank you, have a good day and a good weekend to all the crew.
Great scenery on the approach. I went on holiday as a child near Estepona in the 1960's, so great to see your photos of the area. Airbus has really hit the sweet spot with the A321, and they just look so good in any livery.
Thanks for watching, the good feedback and for sharing your personal experience! I agree, the A321 is a great plane! Very stable in the air. And the NEO is even better with less noise, a reduced fuel flow and less emissions.
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I published a fullflight video a few weeks ago. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/LrSOiUYVek0/w-d-xo.html I hope to come up with more in the future. It may take a while. Please stay tuned and have a nice day!
thank you for this very interesting and beautiful approach Stefan! I love the pictures in the end of the video it looks very nice👍. Greetings from Brussels and all the best to you sir! (ps: hopefully we see some more A321 content in in the coming videos🤩)
Many thanks! It is great to hear that you like the video! It all depends on my duty schedule. And this is always a surprise. We fly A319, A320 and A321 plus the A320 NEO and the A321 NEO. This means lots of options. But I am sure that I will do some more A321 flights over the next months. It may take a while. Please stay tuned.
Sir, THANK YOU, I did not expect such a 'quick turnaround!'' I only requested a LEMG landing last week, and you have come up with 'the goods' Thank you VERY much for this video! I'm now off to do the same landing in MSFS, I'll have to see if my landing takes the same routing as yours, oh and hopefully it will be as smooth! Thank you again, Clive from the UK
Great video as always! Keep them coming. I am a regular visitor to AGP so it was very interesting to watch the procedure from the flight deck as opposed to sitting in the rear of the aircraft.
Excellent video/views as always! Will be my goal for this year to jumpseat on our brand new 321neo here at United, hopefully it has the same bells and whistles as this one!
Incredible arrival, thanks for posting! I remember in previous videos, you would call out, 'single engine taxi, start procedure' to initiate the SETI supp. procedure but now, you called out 'engine two shutdown;' is that a procedure that changed recently? I also observed you as PF turned off the ELEC PUMP at parking rather than PM with the classic 'continue procedure' announcement... so can you explain briefly what changed there? Many thanks and keep up your fantastic work!
Thanks for watching and for sharing your very detailed observations! Yes, you are correct. The procedure changed a little bit. New callouts and at the gate the Captain switches off the electric yellow hydraulic pump and then engine 1. It is now standard the procedure if the taxi time is long enough.
Thanks! CPDLC stands for Controller Pilot Datalink Communication. This is our digital system which we usually use enroute to communicate with ATC. The bell came from this system because we lost connection after the flight.
Thanks for watching, your good feedback and for your support of the channel as a member! I operated the speedbrake lever with my right hand. Have a nice day!
Good morning and thank you, the approach was stunning. I have noticed that you often operate the side stick but the First Officer always keeps a grip of his/hers. Are both always "activated" or do you have to pass control of the side stick?
Thanks for watching and your support of the channel as a member! Both sidesticks are always active unless one pilot presses the priority pushbutton which deactivated the other sidestick. If both pilots would do inputs at the same time (without pressing the takeover pushbutton), the inputs would be added up and a synthetic voice would say "dual input". The pilot monitoring usually has her or his hand also at or near the sidestick because the push to talk button for the radio is located on the sidestick. In addition, the pilot monitoring must be able to takeover the controls from the pilot flying - if needed - without delay during manual flight.
Very beautiful views. Love it. A quick questi9n, sometimes I see pilots pull the heading and altitude mode selector and sometimes they push it in after changing the heading or altitude, is there any difference?
Yes, there is a difference. When pushing the heading knob, the airplane will follow the managed nav mode, which means the it follows the pre-programmed flightplan which we entered into the MCDU. When pulling the knob, it flies the selected heading. When pushing the altitude knob, the airplane starts a managed descent and takes into account all pre-programmed vertical altitude restrictions. When pulling the knob, the plane starts an open descent and descents with idle power immediately to the selected altitude without taking any vertical altitude restrictions into account.
Great approach and landing. Was so smooth, steady and calm. Beautiful views with this "low and slow" approach, though. I think A321NEO can slow down a bit faster and manageable than A319.
Thanks a lot for watching and for sharing your feedback! Yes, you are completely right: The A321 can slow down much better than an A319. Have a nice day!
Are the displays more vibrant in these latest deliveries of the Neos like this brand new A321 Neo? I'm not comparing to the old CRTs from the CEOs, but to other, but older, Neos from 320 series.
Thanks for sharing your observations! I thought about the same. It looks to me that they somehow react faster. Maybe that the new planes have faster processors installed or that the displayed data is less dampened . This is just an assumption.
Hi captain, another awesome video, and I have just one question, how come the ALT wasn't magenta with the corresponding constraints when you were doing managed descend? Thank you, all the best!
Thanks for your good feedback and your question! The constraints are only shown in magenta if the flight management and guidance system assumes in the pre-calculation that there is a chance that a level off is needed to maintain the constraint.
Hello captain. Thank you for another great video. 🎉 What does the phrase „Descending with procedure“ mean? Similar to climb via SID? Thank you for the help in advance.
I have not been to Gotenburg for a while. I hope to be scheduled soon to the airport and then I - for sure - try to record a video. It may take a while. Please stay tuned.
is a pilot or ATC allowed to ask the other one to move the mic a bit off the mouth? In normal internet life it's kinda rude to, but i would prefer being told i'm blowing into the mic. But maybe the noise level is just to high in a plane. Or pilots are just too polite or patient.
Thanks for watching and your feedback! The audio in the video is the original audio from the cockpit. But - you are right- there is a certain basic noise level which is originated by cooling fans, the general air flow, the engines ... Sometimes we ask each other to move the microphone closer or further away from the mouth or so. But this happens not that often because both pilot can adjust the volume of the interphone and the volume of ATC audio individually. Also, most pilots are polite and patient.
Is thia a CONDOR Airbus? CONDOR, in my opinion, is Germany,s BEST airline, ever. And DE is a truly traditional airline, dating back to 1956. It,s so sad that LTU and Airberlin no more flies through the skies. Back in the 1980 - 1990 LTU was one of the BEST German airline.
Captain this is getting boring. For once can you upload a less than a perfect video?I know i'm asking something next to impossible but at least you can try.And by the way from 16:00-16:45 a very nice race between airplane and train.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos I have heard it of course. I understand the ATC allowing you to keep own speed below 10000, but when cleard according to chart i would ask again to clarify. Perhaps a controller in the comments can adress the situation as its all too common.
@@Larkeshet It is very easy. Do not make it more complicated than necessary. Speed restrictions on the charts are mainly imposed for traffic separation ... At 7:21 we asked the approach controller if there are any speed restrictions for us. She clearly stated that we are number one and "free speed for you". This is very easy and there is nothing to discuss or clarify. Until we get a different clearance about the speed, we can fly whatever speed we like.
I think you need to pay parrticular attention to speed constraints cos some of them were exceeded unintentionally. IAnd the fo d better monitor entire approach more effectively and warn him when needed. Configure the aircraft early can be a solution to be considered for both crew. Anyway safe landing was made. Thanks for sharing.
You are completely wrong here! I suggest that you watch the full video: At 00:22, ATC told us that there are no speed restrictions for us. This was confirmed again at 07:30, as we asked again for speed restrictions and ATC cleared us to fly our own speed. Flying our own speed gives us always the possibility to fly most efficiently. The published speed restrictions are usually made for traffic reasons, but if there is no or just a little traffic, ATC usually allows us to fly our own speed. But, if there are speed restrictions in place, you can be sure that we will fly in accordance. There are videos here on the channel which show how we do this.

They are both active. Except when you press the priority button on the glareshield.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thank you for taking the time to provide that very detailed explanation Captain
@@Bimmer_i4_M50 Thank you for your reply
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos oh I see, thanks a lot😃
cool, mit dem neuen COM Module :)
Danke fürs Anschauen!
Very refreshing to see a female pilot in the cockpit with you, best greetings to you captain
Thanks for watching and for sharing your personal feedback!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Thank you very much for the answer, I learn something new all the time about the bus :D
Hello captain. Thank you for another great video. 🎉 What does the phrase „Descending with procedure“ mean? Similar to climb via SID? Thank you for the help in advance.
Thanks for watching, your good feedback and your question! You are right, it is similar to "climb via SID". Have a nice day!
Do you have a video where you fly into Gotenburg (ESGG) if so could you upload it? I really like all your videos :)
I have not been to Gotenburg for a while. I hope to be scheduled soon to the airport and then I - for sure - try to record a video. It may take a while. Please stay tuned.
New Radio Panel on the 321 Neo ?
Yes, new radio panel.
Note the train at 16:00. I think he is doing 130kt!
Some trains are really fast. As an example, the German ICE is doing up to 300 kilometers per hour which would be 160 knots!
How efficient are those ground crew 😊
They do a great job! Thanks for watching!
Wann gibt's was von Palma de Mallorca 🎉🎉

Nein, kein Layover.
is a pilot or ATC allowed to ask the other one to move the mic a bit off the mouth?
All details are mentioned in the video description. It is an Eurowings Airbus A321 NEO.
Captain this is getting boring. For once can you upload a less than a perfect video?I know i'm asking something next to impossible but at least you can try.And by the way from 16:00-16:45 a very nice race between airplane and train.
Thank you so much for your friendly words! I agree, the race between our plane and the high speed train was really interesting. Have a good day!
Max 210 kts constraints and you were too fast my friend
No, you are completely wrong! We were allowed to fly our own speed. Please listen to the audio before making such statements!
