Sierra Bogess is amazing, one of the best voice in Boardway.
Oh yes she is!!!
It's hard to imagine ANYONE singing this song any better than Julie Andrews, but Sierra catches EVERYTHING that is wonderful about this musical.
Absolutely beautiful performance!
This is the best performance since it was recorded for the 1965 soundtrack. Hands down.
totally agree.
It really is. Good SOM recordings are exceptionally rare-this is one of the best.
How on earth did the orchestra make it exactly sound like the 1965 Irwin Kostal's? Wow. Bravo!
It's awesome right??? The main answer is that John Wilson and his orchestra specialize in doing the large-scale movie musicals in their specific arrangements. So, Mr. Wilson is able to dig deep into the vaults to pull out what he needs. The other thing is that this orchestra has probably learned about the performance practice of 50's and 60's movie orchestras and maybe even use similar instruments from the period.
Because they are playing the same instruments & the same notes. Not rocket science.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me
@Cassius Onyx Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Cassius Onyx it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass :D
Sierra as Maria!! this is a MUST!!
Sooo great and wonderful ! Sierra Boggess is A MUST listen !
The story behind John Wilson with this type of music is amazing. For much of it was apparently destroyed and he spent 1000's of hours remaking it to its original sound.
Sing for me , my angel of music
The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall
When I was in junior high school, I went to see a movie for the first time by myself and I remember being so moved by the Sound of Music that I shuddered at the beginning. I immediately bought the record and have been captivated by the melody ever since.
La mejor película musical que existe junto a excelentes actores y hermosos paisajes .Maravilloso todo!
My favorite scene of the movie is when Maria, in her wedding gown, walks down the aisle of the cathedral. Just amazing.
Sierra puts up a good challenge to Julie Andrews in her vocal performance. Bravo, Sierra!
Robertta Corbett She seems to be a wonderful successor.
Thank you from THAILAND
She has the singing, looks and theatrics of the classic old time stars. Magic.
You should find the 25th anniversary performance of Phantom of the Opera (which was also at the Royal Albert Hall coincidentally). She blew the doors off the place. She played Christine Daae on both sides of the Atlantic and Andrew Lloyd Weber has said she's the best Christine ever.
I never heard of Sierra Boggess, and saw her first on these Prom concerts. Now I love her.
Sierra Boggess was absolutely perfect!(as always)
I resisted watching "The Sound of Music" all my life... but resistance is futile. Now I know why it was so beloved. God bless Rodgers and Hammerstein.
omg me toooooo
Unending and most beloved music on earth, amazing , wonderful composition

No matter how old I get, I keep returning to the unforgettable music of Oscar and Hammerstein. Their body of work is so important and so eternally beautiful that no one will ever replace them... NO ONE.
I was like that once too... and now I see it for the flawless masterpiece it is and can't get enough of it. It's a holiday tradition in our house.
God bless the Trapp Family, who run a lodge in Stowe, Vermont
can we just have Sierra release a cast album as the lead for every musical?? that is my dream
El nombre, calza a la perfección.
EL SONIDO DE LA MUSICA!!!
GRACIAS
It was my favorite when I saw "The South of Music" in the 60's with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer! It was my first date with my husband now of 52 years! This presentation is absolutely stunning! Love it! So grateful for this presentation! Thank you so much!!!!!!
It's The Sound of Music
I assume the date went well!
@@williamfairchild7439 Double bill - "The South of Music" and "Sound Pacific".
Sierra is a TRUE artist in every sense of the word. Her acting ability as well as vocal is outstanding. Diction, clarity, pitch, everything is spot on. Coming from one singer too another. I will say she wowed me MAJORLY in her role as Christine in Phantom with Ramin as The Phantom. So sad too see that outstanding musical end because of production costs. I can't believe Andrew Lloyd Webber said in an interview it costs nearly $1,000,000 a week to put on that production. That's insane but worth every penny in my opinion. And he we have never pulled the plug on it. Considering the younger generation is just now starting to get interested in it. I was VERY lucky enough too see Crawford and Brightman back in the 80's when it came to NY. And of all the musicals i've seen over the years Phantom will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart. It's not just a love story at it's roots. It's about acceptance of one's differences. One who feels like an outcast from society. If that doesn't speak volumes and still hold A TON of relevancy for people to relate too today. I don't know what does. So again, sad that it's getting pulled from Broadway.
❤😂❤❤😂
At age 10 in ‘65, Mum took me to see TSOM the first Saturday it was released. We saw many pictures together but every time I see this wonderful film or hear one of its beautiful melodies, I think of her. God bless you mother!
To begin, her voice, a coloratura soprano, is stunning. If you appreciate the precision of her pitch, exquisite tone and diction, emotional interpretation, the occasional tasteful and impressive vocal acrobatics. I LOVE her voice. This Proms appeareance was a chance to shine with her beautiful voice and show people her gorgeous voice. She had a great time doing it. You can tell by her voice.
There's a reason Andrew Lloyd Weber said she was the best Chistine ever. Yep... he actually said that.
@@GeometricMason Oh that's awesome isn't it? I'm sure a certain divorce had nothing to do with it.
@@beetlejumpI mean, probably. But I agree. I think Sierra is the best Christine that I've ever seen.
this makes me so happy
the overture
sierra
everything
I do like the overture in the sound of music
That version Something Good is so moving.
Yeah, but when they sing it in the movie it's great!
Still waiting for that glorious day when I can easily say to my love interest that I must have done something right in my life to have you standing there loving me as you are. Oh, I’d love that. Thank you for sharing!
That final smile... she deserves it 1000x
Sierra bogess is the most beautiful person with the most beautiful voice!!!!
I can't stop watching these BBC Proms.
Sierra Boggess, Julian Ovenden, John Wilson Orchestra and the rest are Simple Amazing !!!!
That's Rod Gilfry singing with Sierra, not Julian Ovenden
I know... The Proms are THE GREATEST yearly celebration of music in the WORLD... maybe... even the Universe...!!! I LOVE the Proms!!!
I agree
I know he is not Julian.
Julian is One of a Kind and Incredibly Good.
I was speaking about All the BBC Proms.
@@MyCesarFrancisco So was I...! Viva la PROMS!!!!!!!!
Never Never get tired of listening to this The Sound Of Music wonderful the or any rendering of it.👏👏👏👏👏👏
A first class rendition. The orchestra, chorus are fantastic. Kudo's to the BBC for such quality work.
Sierra is fabulous... if they ever remake this movie (not that I would want that, but if), she should most certainly be asked to play Maria.
Evan I don't think they ever could.
The magic would be so hard to recreate.
Just like they tried with the wizard of oz.
It just wasn't right.
I was actually thinking they should have cast her as Maria in the TV live version instead of Carrie Underwood....
AravisKenobi14 that could have worked. As much as I love Carrie Underwood, she wasn't right to play Maria.
AravisKenobi14 you are absolutely right, wanna time travle?
This performance is truly exceptional. Especially climb every mountain!
I thought she was English from this song until I learned more about her and found she is from the US.
I want to see BBC PROMS Live onece in my live.
IF HEAVEN DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THIS... 🥲
This orchestra and choir is one of the best in the world in my opinion. Every musician and singer in this company is very much into the music. Miss Sierra is stunning in her elegant white gown, her face, hair, figure, her smile, her beautiful rendition and diction -- such perfection. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is one of the best things on internet
simply majestic! brings me back to the original movie! Wow just amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This gave me chills and flashbacks. This is amazing. And Sierra is freaking awesome!!!!!
Music is the international language.
Sierra Boggess DIVINE!
i swear i think watching the sound of music at a young age has made me musically inclined
She is amazing one of the best singer she was brilliant in phantom of the opera
phantom of the opera at the royal albert hall
I think we should give a special mention for the luscious and brilliant orchestration by Irwin Kostal, he definitely brought a great contribution to « The Sound of Music »
Thank you John Wilson for putting a particular spotlight on the work of arrangers and orchestrators for the movies !
Sierra is the best !!!!!!!!
By the way, wouldn't be great Sierra Boggess in the role of Eliza Doolittle? I would love to see her in My Fair Lady.
Oh my gosh me too!!!!
She has talked about how she actually did make it to the last five or so women being considered for the role in the recent Broadway revival, as we know now that didn't pan out :(
They make a wonderful Maria and Capt. Von Trapp couple. The other singers are also amazing.
the hills are alive ~~~ my heart will be blessed with the sound of music,
Absolutely phenomenal
OMG Climb Every Mountain wow wow wow Kim's voice had the hairs climbing off my back in amazement loved loved loved
sierra knocked it outta the park!!!
That was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as Julie Andrews once said, and please put a night at the Proms on your bucket list.
Excellent singers & talented musicians playing orchestra music for the Sound of Music! Making Julie Andrews, actors, & actresses in original Sound of Music movie so proud of all of you!❤️🤍💙🇬🇧🎉🥰😇😊👏
I really like John Wilson’s conducting here. It's very fluid, and allows the ensemble, by listening to each other, to take its artistry to the next level. Bravissimi!
Just stumbled across this. Everyone is incredible, singers and orchestra alike, but my GOODNESS Sierra is amazing.
Climb Every Mountain has me wiping my eyes. It’s not tears, my eyes are just... raining...
Sierra Boggess is the greatest singer in the world!!!
Is that her name? She is great indeed.
Sierra Bogess
She is fantastic!
Colorado girl!!!
oh my god she would be an amazing Maria😍😍
Absolutely stunning. Sierra is a queen.
Fabulous orchestra, then Sierra Boggess... my day is made!
This performance is a dream, so beautiful. ❤️👋
I listen to this EVERY MORNING. It gives me strength and happiness! As someone else said, "Sierra puts up a good challenge to Julie Andrews in her vocal performance. Bravo, Sierra!"
One word: OUTSTANDING!
Sierra Bogess...is that the lead vocalist's name...?? man, the look..the voice...HOW is she not a Disney princess already...that's crazy..!!!
she's the full package. looking forward to more of her...maybe in a blockbuster musical, in the near future.
oops! never mind...just googled her. dang!!! didn't realize this was recorded over a decade ago.... she's FORTY ONE now. And, she's the original Ariel on Broadway...wow!!! how has she not been on my radar..?!? she's incredible.
Sierra Boggess SIMPLY CHARMING
Damn! Talk about owning a stage.
mmmmm hmmmph
Wow! Just wow and wow again!
This was the foundation of musical wonder and my childhood all rolled into one. I got emotional listening to the intro medley of all the main songs by was always specially moved by the nuns opening piece - it was always hauntingly beautiful and spiritual lity the same time. Those ladies nailed it!!!!
Watching this video reminds me of when I was very young, maybe 5th or 6th grade that my father paid for me and my classmates to see The sound of MUSIC and I never forgot it because it was a TREAT
Sound of music needs to be on in the West end/Broadway/a tour , anything, for me to see Sierra play Maria, she'd be perfect 💝
Absolutely beautiful, orchestra and singing! As beautiful as originally performed! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely wonderful! I'm a "Sound of Music" lover and was in tears throughout this performance!
So beautiful.❤
I am getting goosebumps from the very start of this beautiful presentation.....remembering my growing up in those hundreds of times I must have seen this movie as a whole or in clips throughout the sixties, seventies and then as a parent to two beautiful kids of mine who are themselves nearing thirty now.....The Sound Of Music always makes me emotional as I connected to the Von Trapp kids and maria when I was a child of four or five. And now thanks to the John Wilson Orchestra for playing it right through my heart !
Saw this woman just a month ago here on you tube. Like an arrow straight into my heart..ufb
John Wilson never disappoints. Gorgeous arrangements of this classic. I'm sat in the Gaumont cinema with my Gran back in the sixties on the day I first saw this film ❤️
The details within the orchestration of the OST that has been meticulously recreated is mind blowing. The song of the abbey is hair raising also.
Kim Criswell did the best to sing Climb Every Mountain in the last. Extremely high notes stunned everyone.
This orchestra is superb and electrifying. The singers are equally great. of course, the great composer, Richard Rodgers ,wrote the best music for Carousal, Oklahoma,Sound of Music, and he was the best of all in his field. Thanks for this beautiful music.
Ouvir atualmente algo assim me faz acreditar que o bem ainda existe na Terra! 🎉🎉
wow, what a performance, the score and vocal performance was just excellent. I love this movie and the music too.
Wonderful presenttion.
Spectacular in every way!
All parts are perfect, the instruments and the vocal. Magnificent.
Amazing Ochestra and Voices arrangements. It brings tears on my eyes. Very emotional moments...The Sound of Music is one of my favorite musical movie. I watch this movie for more than 100 times.....May God bless all of you for this magnificent performance. CONGRATULATIONS! - Elias Junior Cantor Missionário from Brazil.
Sierra's I have confidence in me really gives me confidence.
Still the film which gives me the most joy. Saw it when it first came out in 1965 twice and numerous times since then on tv/dvd.
WONDER WHAT HAPPEN TO THESE PEOPLE'S LIVES DURING THE CONVID 19 ?
THEY GAVE US SO MUCH JOY IN THE HAPPY DAYS, HOPE THEY ALL MADE IT THROUGH THE TOUGH TIME.
absolutely lovely great performance by all . well done all of you xx
Brings back very very fond memories of the Hills that were alive with the Sound Of Music. Imperious stuff. Can't hold back the tears.
Sierra Boggess, You are indeed God's special gift to us, your fans and well wishers, and we are legion. May God Almighty continue to Bless You, and hold You in the palm of His Hand. Amen
I am in awe so impressed with Sierra
@@jeanash9502 Absolutely. Sierra has carved a special niche for herself amongst the pantheon of adorable greats, in our Hearts, too.
