I love many of his early films. Maybe it’s because I grew up with them I don’t know. At some point his movies definitely became a joke tho. But he gets paid millions to bulls- around with his friends, so I guess it’s not that surprising he keeps making them lol

Last summer Sandler randomly walked onto a basketball court we were playing at, asked if he could play, then introduced himself to everyone, said his name was Adam, and shook everyone’s hand. Absolute class act.
@@Madferit91 No I guarantee it's true lol, this is a super common thing. He loves pick-up basketball and will play at community centers or gyms a lot. Even more wholesome, he is a passer, which is so uncommon for pickup games. He just goes to play and have fun.

Today I saw a post on a MrBallen upload saying that they lost a family member called Farley. That led me here..... Thanks to Adam's tribute, I couldn't help but watch more Footages of Chris; interviews, sketches, and documentaries. OMG! So many things I never knew and for that,Chris, I am sorry. Not only were you funny and handsome, but you were generous of your time and love. You volunteered for causes and your church. You would often pick up a homeless person in your limo and take that person to treatment. You were, and still are, a beautiful man. You still make us laugh. Oh Adam, thank you. Much Love.

Yes, Chris Farley brought upon his own demise and there are serious lessons to learn about not living in "the fast lane", and practicing prudence, as well as learning self control. I've had friends who have committed suicide, far too many who have overdosed (it still hurts, sometimes more than if they were to have died of sickness/natural reasons). That being said, yes, dying because of vice isn't the same as an innocent child dying of cancer (I agree with that) but regardless it was a person who died way too young who was loved more than he knew by so many. So yes, Farley ended up dying directly because of the lifestyle he chose to live. But he was still someone's son, someone's brother, and someone's best friend. No matter the cause a light to so many people was extinguished far too soon. His parents, siblings, and friends have a void where Chris used to be no matter if he brought it on himself.
3 years later and I'm still crying. My brothers and I grew up with Farley. We still laugh at his skit and movies. He was one of our 90s memories. I miss that man 😢

@@BaldMancTwat as someone who grew up in and worked in the funeral industry I have a couple thoughts. 1) Tradition, that's how we do it. 2)Some people need to see the deceased for them to accept it. 3)Everyone grieves differently.

I regret it until this day, 15 years later. The last image I have of my brother is a lifeless body who doesnt even look like him and I try everything to forget that image. but yeah well, some people need this, I strongly advise anyone not to do it and keep an image of a loved one in mind when he/she was still alive. I still remember going into that room and there was this nice dressed corpse lying there and I was like "wtf? who is this dead stranger?" then it hit me and its burned into my memory forever.
@@bepowerification my mom died of colon cancer 6 years ago. I'm an only child and she never wanted kids. She loved me as much as she knew how to and never asked for me towards the end. But I was forced to come out. I'd had a good goodbye with her a couple of months prior (we lived 1200 miles away from each other). I was content with it and respected it if she was too. She always kept me at arm's length until the end. It's hard to say how I'd feel if I hadn't been there when she died. But at no point did I feel welcome or that I should be there. I'm sorry you have that image and feeling burned into your head because I know how it feels. Sometimes seeing them when they are still themselves is the best for all involved.
I’ve heard that complete crap about not meeting your heroes...I met Chris Farley. He’s not a hero, but he was my favorite comedian when I was younger. As I approached his table I thought I had made a mistake. I was only 10 years old and 6 men were looking at me, with disdain. Aside from one. The annoyed look on everyone’s face at that table had paralyzed me, however this feeling was completely washed away as Chris Farley sprang up from his seat, fully animated, putting his out towards mine and shaking my hand. I don’t remember every second of that moment, but I will always remember how Chris Farley took a few minutes to give me his full attention. With a smile and a laugh in his voice, he asked me what kind of autographs I wanted.

One of the biggest stars to come out of SNL (no hate from anyone. Not even objectionable. Like him, or not, he's one of the biggest), to come back 24 years later....he could have been "Me! Me! Me!", but no. Instead, he chose to honor the late, great Chris Farley instead. You can't hate a man that most likely demanded that he include this song during this episode, to pay tribute to not only one of the funniest people ever, but to his greatest friend. That's a real friend. Man. Human being. Whatever you want to call him. Simply amazing.

The funny thing is, at the time this group on SNL were being criticized for not being funny and low ratings. Their comedy was truly ahead of its’ time, people are only realizing it these last 5-10 years.
I still come back to this from time to time. I unfortunately wasn't alive to experience everything from Chris Farley when he was alive. However, my dad loved him so much and thought his comedy was so funny. So growing up, he always loved to show me things from Chris Farley, while also showing me so much stuff from Adam Sandler. The whole "Down by the River" skit was one of the first introductions I had to SNL. Even now in my twenties, that skit is still my most favorite SNL skit ever. So watching this for the first time hit me so hard. I may not have been around like many others were, but I still loved his stuff just as much. Even now, it still hits just as hard, and I truly think there was nobody more perfect to do a tribute to him than Adam Sandler.
Same here, cried when I heard about Belushi even way back then. My favorite Farley was his movie interviews with the stars. To funny. That part was cool.
Some said he would've died even giving every terrible thing up... he just had such an enormous heartrate and just normal physical condition. But hey, we love him no matter what.

I wonder sometimes if perhaps he wrote this song years and years ago. Painful as it is, I imagine he held onto this one for a very long time. Even if he only actually wrote that song months before it aired, he carried every bit of it in his soul every day since 1997.
I just listened to this song with a tear in my eye, thinking about watching Farley as a kid, doing all the bits with my friends the next week. We freaking loved the Folgers skit and his Bennet Brower character.

I met Chris Farley by accident when he was at an O’Hare airport gate stairway. He was standing right behind me. I answered his question about the gates getting switched. He was on his way home to Madison and me on my way to Appleton and home to Oshkosh. I would have never met him that day if I hadn’t refused to get on the plane until I knew my dog was on the plane. He was kind with his words and shook hands all the way up the stairway. Sadly 6 months later he died. RIP Chris. It was an honor to meet you. Thank you for all the laughs you gave us.
My dad was from Appleton. His brother still lived there until his passing a few years ago. My dad was always telling crazy (& mostly naughty) jokes to get laughs up until his death. He loved chris Farley’s humor too. My two brothers were born in Madison and then I came along early so I was born in Terre Haute (Terrible Hot my dad says). My youngest brother was born in Moscow Idaho, where all 4 of us kids grew up. My dad was a world renowned bassoonist (most people say “what’s a bassoon” , and not “what’s his name”) He always joked that he should have just learned 3 chords on a guitar and became a rock star! I can't even imagine how much it sucks for someone like Adam who brought every one of his friends along with him through every bit of success and fame to have to look back and think about how much he would have loved to have Chris along with him the whole time.
According to the Chris Farley documentary, Chris felt depressed and alone no longer being part of the SNL group after they were let go and for good reason. Lorne felt that Chris and Adam were ready to be famous on their own and wanted others to shine, but Chris couldn’t handle being independent. I wish he knew how much Adam wouldve kept trying for him.
It's probably 10 years old now but in Spade's episode of the Marc Maron podcast, he talks about Sandler joining Spade and a few other guys on a trip doing standup gigs. Took a few shows but Sandler got warmed up and got back in the groove. Then one night, Sandler and Spade are watching one of the other guys and Sandler goes "ya know, Chris would have loved this." Sandler is nothing if not loyal to his friends, he just happened to be one of the lucky ones who can do things like Grown Ups and all the other Happy Madison movies to keep his friends together and making money at the same time.

Yes, Chris Farley brought upon his own demise and there are serious lessons to learn about not living in "the fast lane", and practicing prudence, as well as learning self control. I've had friends who have committed suicide, far too many who have overdosed (it still hurts, sometimes more than if they were to have died of sickness/natural reasons). That being said, yes, dying because of vice isn't the same as an innocent child dying of cancer (I agree with that) but regardless it was a person who died way too young who was loved more than he knew by so many.
So yes, Farley ended up dying directly because of the lifestyle he chose to live. But he was still someone's son, someone's brother, and someone's best friend. No matter the cause a light to so many people was extinguished far too soon. His parents, siblings, and friends have a void where Chris used to be no matter if he brought it on himself.

I regret it until this day, 15 years later. The last image I have of my brother is a lifeless body who doesnt even look like him and I try everything to forget that image. but yeah well, some people need this, I strongly advise anyone not to do it and keep an image of a loved one in mind when he/she was still alive. I still remember going into that room and there was this nice dressed corpse lying there and I was like "wtf? who is this dead stranger?" then it hit me and its burned into my memory forever.

But I was forced to come out. I'd had a good goodbye with her a couple of months prior (we lived 1200 miles away from each other). I was content with it and respected it if she was too. She always kept me at arm's length until the end. It's hard to say how I'd feel if I hadn't been there when she died. But at no point did I feel welcome or that I should be there.

I’ve heard that complete crap about not meeting your heroes...I met Chris Farley. He’s not a hero, but he was my favorite comedian when I was younger. As I approached his table I thought I had made a mistake. I was only 10 years old and 6 men were looking at me, with disdain. Aside from one. The annoyed look on everyone’s face at that table had paralyzed me, however this feeling was completely washed away as Chris Farley sprang up from his seat, fully animated, putting his out towards mine and shaking my hand. I don’t remember every second of that moment, but I will always remember how Chris Farley took a few minutes to give me his full attention. With a smile and a laugh in his voice, he asked me what kind of autographs I wanted.

One of the biggest stars to come out of SNL (no hate from anyone. Not even objectionable. Like him, or not, he's one of the biggest), to come back 24 years later....he could have been "Me! Me! Me!", but no. Instead, he chose to honor the late, great Chris Farley instead.

I still come back to this from time to time. I unfortunately wasn't alive to experience everything from Chris Farley when he was alive. However, my dad loved him so much and thought his comedy was so funny. So growing up, he always loved to show me things from Chris Farley, while also showing me so much stuff from Adam Sandler. The whole "Down by the River" skit was one of the first introductions I had to SNL. Even now in my twenties, that skit is still my most favorite SNL skit ever. So watching this for the first time hit me so hard. I may not have been around like many others were, but I still loved his stuff just as much. Even now, it still hits just as hard, and I truly think there was nobody more perfect to do a tribute to him than Adam Sandler.

I met Chris Farley by accident when he was at an O’Hare airport gate stairway. He was standing right behind me. I answered his question about the gates getting switched. He was on his way home to Madison and me on my way to Appleton and home to Oshkosh. I would have never met him that day if I hadn’t refused to get on the plane until I knew my dog was on the plane. He was kind with his words and shook hands all the way up the stairway. Sadly 6 months later he died. RIP Chris. It was an honor to meet you. Thank you for all the laughs you gave us.

My dad was from Appleton. His brother still lived there until his passing a few years ago. My dad was always telling crazy (& mostly naughty) jokes to get laughs up until his death. He loved chris Farley’s humor too. My two brothers were born in Madison and then I came along early so I was born in Terre Haute (Terrible Hot my dad says). My youngest brother was born in Moscow Idaho, where all 4 of us kids grew up. My dad was a world renowned bassoonist (most people say “what’s a bassoon” , and not “what’s his name”) He always joked that he should have just learned 3 chords on a guitar and became a rock star! Yeah yeah yeah-whoa whoa whoa-uh huh, uh huh, uh huh! Lmao

Our gates were switched and he kept trying to ask the flight attendant if this was the gate to Madison, they didn’t hear him so I told him Madison was at Gate A now. This was Summer of 1997. You need not act and talk as if you were right when you clearly were not there.

R H The reason he mentions it is because Grown Ups was originally written in the 90s and it was specifically written with Farley in mind for a major part. That line in the song is just him lamenting on what could’ve been.

According to the Chris Farley documentary, Chris felt depressed and alone no longer being part of the SNL group after they were let go and for good reason. Lorne felt that Chris and Adam were ready to be famous on their own and wanted others to shine, but Chris couldn’t handle being independent. I wish he knew how much Adam wouldve kept trying for him.

It's probably 10 years old now but in Spade's episode of the Marc Maron podcast, he talks about Sandler joining Spade and a few other guys on a trip doing standup gigs. Took a few shows but Sandler got warmed up and got back in the groove. Then one night, Sandler and Spade are watching one of the other guys and Sandler goes "ya know, Chris would have loved this."
Sandler is nothing if not loyal to his friends, he just happened to be one of the lucky ones who can do things like Grown Ups and all the other Happy Madison movies to keep his friends together and making money at the same time.
This belongs in the top 5 of emotional SNL monents.

I feel the same way but personally I have to go so I can actually believe they're gone otherwise it's unbelievable for me. 🥺 But I don't judge or think negatively about people who choose to not attended. Everyone deals with death and grief differently.
