I think Aidan's main problem is he didn't love Carrie for who she was. He wanted her to fit in his box: he said he couldn't date a smoker so she stopped smoking for him, he pressured her into moving in, into marrying, into liking the country, into not seeing Big (though it's understandable). I don't think he was right for her, to the point where she was bad for him. That's one of the good traits on Big, he loved her for who she was. Which is basically the quote Carrie says at the very end of the series. Plus, both Carrie and Big were assholes in their own way, so they kinda deserved each other in the bad sense as well.

I actually saw an interview with Michael Patrick King several years ago where he said that it the episode featuring Charlotte's brother felt weird to them, like they had crossed a line they shouldn't have in the storytelling. So that was a deciding factor in why they never really featured storylines with any of the girls' family members after that (except Miranda's mother dying, but you don't actually see her on screen).
I always thought it was strange that Carrie stopped breaking the fourth wall after the 1st season. She used to look directly at the camera and tell us a backstory on a character in that scene.
I read about why the writers stopped doing that & of course forgot. It does take the viewer out of the show when a character breaks the 4th wall, which works better in comedy than a story that wants the audience to feel like we're there, we know these people, etc.
Amy Lynn Hunt definitely! I wouldn’t be surprised if that trope was dropped when they started developing the characters and plot more. It’s just so weird to rewatch season 1- feels like an almost completely different show.
I'm honestly really glad they stopped breaking the fourth wall along with the interview segments. I found them to be really distracting. I much prefer the voice over. It fulfills the same purpose without disrupting the scene.

The Bagpipes at Charlotte's wedding were not playing a funeral dirge they were playing "Scotland the brave" and its an unofficial anthem and patriotic song for Scotland and a regimental march.
I'm surprised that the necklace was picked as #1... The last episode put a pretty heavy focus on the importance it had... Not sure how anyone could have missed it.
They removed the twin towers from the Samantha and Richard scene as a mark of respect. Also Charlotte's brother was in season 1 or 2 when he slept with Samantha. Not the best vid for facts.
Biggest mistake on the show was when Samantha makes her speech at the cancer event, her two friends in NYC weren't there. How in the hell were they not there for that?
I think the show wanted that event to really be about how cancer affected Samantha, and the audience being full of actual cancer patients was infinitely better & more meaningful than if Carrie was sitting there, pulling attention with a crazy "look at me!" outfit. It wasn't an error , it was a choice with purpose.

The show's main character may have been Carrie but the character Samantha made that show! She was brash, honest, funny, independent & knew what she wanted. Plus Carrie wore some really funky outfits, mismatched, colored bra showing thru her clothes, straps usually showing while wearing a nice dress, so tacky..... I was not a fan of her clothing choices. Samantha & Charlotte on the other hand were always tastefully dressed, their clothing always matched.
I agree. But Samantha DEFINITELY wasn't always tastefully dressed. Sometimes she was downright tacky. They all had some questionable outfits. I really hated when Charlotte dressed pink from head to toe.

Carrie had a few good choices (the Prada dress she selects on her date with Berger is smashing!) but gah, a large percentage were head scratching and down right UGLY - her Channel clam diggers and matching do rag constituted just about the most hideous outfit I have ever seen!

Good point. I was never quite sure about that either, the huge fundamental differences in those characters. How they thought that could work out. Maybe it's like when you have big time chemistry with someone, nothing else in common. It usually fizzles out before it goes as far as a marriage proposal that's accepted (or ends quickly in divorce) Big, OTOH, is like Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind in that he *likes* the things about Carrie that doom the Carrie/Aiden ship or make us think Carrie (or Scarlett, to pick up that analogy again) is bratty. Both men want to spoil their ladies, it makes them happy. They find it endearing that the ladies want to buy a pair of shoes for a ridiculous amount of money, etc. & they have fun occasionally footing the bill. I think that's why it always had to be Mr. Big for Carrie.
Personally, I have been among the devoted fans of "Sex and the City" for not having noticed such details within the series and I have to admit that I was surprised when this MsMojo video finally showed the reasons why the details were not noticed in the first place. I am quite impressed indeed.
One of my favorite t.v. series of all time!! It's the perfect mixer of comedy, drama, & fashion. Balanced out with plenty of sex! What more could you ask for!

There is actually one point that is incorrect. Charlotte's brother does make an appearance in the series (After his separation, he has a short fling with Samantha to chars disapproval)
They also mention Carries dad and that he walked out on them. Carrie has a picture of her and her dad and then writes something on her laptop like “are we just trying to heal our father wounds” I am paraphrasing.
The shows tries not to date itself however every time I see them in a payphone or when someone says " I left a message in your machine" it reminds me this was a time when cellphones were uncommon...

I wish people would stop saying Aiden is the perfect guy. #1 there is no such thing. #2 Aiden wasn't fully open with his internal struggels and was rather insecure. He forgave Carrie for cheating and gave her a second chance pretending to let it all go, but he kept digging at her and lashing out. He also pushed her into things she wasn't ready for and when she gave valid reasons for objection he dismissed it and made it all about him. #3 DOES ANYONE NOT REMEMBER BEN FROM THE FREAK SHOW EPISODE?! He was literally so warm and charming and intelligent. When Carrie went all psycho and went through all of his personal belongings he didn't freak out or anything. He calmly addressed her and broke it off. He was amazing!
I've noticed most of these things, especially the "eternal spring" moment. That's why my favorite episodes are from season 6 😍 Winter fairytale in NYC 😍

The Carrie Diaries kinda touched on Carrie's family. Apparently, she was close with both of her parents and had a sister and her mom died when she was like 14. However, on Sex and the City, once or twice, she implied that she had daddy issues because her dad left them. The writers really should have checked with each other for stuff like that. True fans notice continuity lol.
The Carrie diaries, as much as I loved it, was filled with plot holes, and it was clear that the writers did not do their research. Please I beg anyone who is in media to create new stories with new up-to-date characters because they are ruining old ones
Re: Charlotte’s wedding music. The two pieces of music played in the parts they include in this video are The Skye Boat Song and then Scotland the Brave. Scotland the Brave is certainly not a funeral dirge. It is a patriotic Scottish song. Skye Boat Song can be played at funerals, but is often played at weddings as well. It is about the British heir to the throne running away to Skye. I am very curious why the producers thought this was a funeral song.
Skye Boat Song Is the Outlander theme song! I mean, I know it's more than that - it's a traditional song, but I recognize it from Outlander. I think the song is so beautiful.
I noticed something when talking about the girls family. In one episode, Carrie let's it out her father left her at a early age. She has one picture of him and her. It's kept in a book where she writes by the window.
Watching the show again more recently she was kinda selfish.. The way she was with Miranda especially when Miranda was totally looking out for her. She was definitely one of them girls... Who we all know of...who would drop their friends for a guy in a second!!
I noticed that the whole episodes through and wasn't very surprised honestly. I mean the series called "sex and the City" put Their families in wouldn't fit imo.

You missed the “3 blind mice.” In one episode, three of the girls walk into a party and are blind-sided by the fact that they’re the only single girls there. The jazzy music playing is the children’s song “3 Blind Mice.”
Carrie was an imperfectly flawed woman who both idealized and rationalized love ((and looks)). She to me, is as real a woman as she could ever be. She’s a great and detailed and thoughtful character. A gem in pop culture.
I recognized Michael Patrick King as the mental patient instantly. He was hilarious! By their choice of words I wonder if MM realizes that its actually him in the episode.
Thanks for putting this together! I hadn't really thought of #sexandthecity in a good while. This makes me wanna go back and watch the series again. I thought it was cool that they used Sarah Jessica Parker's own baby for that season 6 episode 1 scene with Aiden. While I won't say I thought #satc was a perfect show now when I look back. It does provide a lot of good entertaining and possibly thought provoking episodes. I would love to see more vids like this about the show! 😊 😀 😁
I really wished they showed more of the winter and autumn seasons. But I guess it had to do with when they filmed the episodes. But we did get those with the first movie so I'm good. lol The biggest thing that I did notice while watching the show and it was on the list - the lack of family or rather the families they had growing up. But understood in what Ms. Mojo said about we make our own families with the friends we have. Such a great show. I always watch when E! has their marathons. I need to do my own marathon on Amazon.

Yeah. Miranda was the most judgemental of all the girls. Carrie in the show even told Miranda that Miranda is judgmental.

There is actually one point that is incorrect. Charlotte's brother does make an appearance in the series (After his separation, he has a short fling with Samantha to chars disapproval)

They also mention Carries dad and that he walked out on them. Carrie has a picture of her and her dad and then writes something on her laptop like “are we just trying to heal our father wounds” I am paraphrasing.
20 years later, I view this show as a cautionary tale.
If this show was made today imagine the lunch scenes with everyone checking their social media.
The shows tries not to date itself however every time I see them in a payphone or when someone says " I left a message in your machine" it reminds me this was a time when cellphones were uncommon...

I wish people would stop saying Aiden is the perfect guy. #1 there is no such thing. #2 Aiden wasn't fully open with his internal struggels and was rather insecure. He forgave Carrie for cheating and gave her a second chance pretending to let it all go, but he kept digging at her and lashing out. He also pushed her into things she wasn't ready for and when she gave valid reasons for objection he dismissed it and made it all about him. #3 DOES ANYONE NOT REMEMBER BEN FROM THE FREAK SHOW EPISODE?! He was literally so warm and charming and intelligent. When Carrie went all psycho and went through all of his personal belongings he didn't freak out or anything. He calmly addressed her and broke it off. He was amazing!
Trying to make him look as bad is pointless. he was and always will be the boyfriend material that carrie didnt deserved at all in the show
I've noticed most of these things, especially the "eternal spring" moment. That's why my favorite episodes are from season 6 😍 Winter fairytale in NYC 😍

The Carrie Diaries kinda touched on Carrie's family. Apparently, she was close with both of her parents and had a sister and her mom died when she was like 14. However, on Sex and the City, once or twice, she implied that she had daddy issues because her dad left them. The writers really should have checked with each other for stuff like that. True fans notice continuity lol.
The Carrie diaries, as much as I loved it, was filled with plot holes, and it was clear that the writers did not do their research. Please I beg anyone who is in media to create new stories with new up-to-date characters because they are ruining old ones
Re: Charlotte’s wedding music. The two pieces of music played in the parts they include in this video are The Skye Boat Song and then Scotland the Brave. Scotland the Brave is certainly not a funeral dirge. It is a patriotic Scottish song. Skye Boat Song can be played at funerals, but is often played at weddings as well. It is about the British heir to the throne running away to Skye. I am very curious why the producers thought this was a funeral song.
Skye Boat Song Is the Outlander theme song! I mean, I know it's more than that - it's a traditional song, but I recognize it from Outlander. I think the song is so beautiful.

In one episode, Carrie let's it out her father left her at a early age. She has one picture of him and her. It's kept in a book where she writes by the window.
Yet in the Carrie diaries her mom is dead and her dad raised her and her sister.

I noticed that the whole episodes through and wasn't very surprised honestly. I mean the series called "sex and the City" put Their families in wouldn't fit imo.
I was surprised by this only once, through all of the Charlotte Wedding situation, it seems just too odd for someone that traditional to not have her mother around or somethin... allthoug the mother was properly replaced by Anthony hehe
There's an earlier episode where seasons are mentioned. It's when she takes a blanket at the end of the episode and covers her bed because summer is over.
When they mentioned the character's families, they missed the fact that Charlotte's brother came out in an episode.

Great show - had a profound affect on pop culture
Carrie was an imperfectly flawed woman who both idealized and rationalized love ((and looks)). She to me, is as real a woman as she could ever be. She’s a great and detailed and thoughtful character. A gem in pop culture.
I recognized Michael Patrick King as the mental patient instantly. He was hilarious! By their choice of words I wonder if MM realizes that its actually him in the episode.
Thanks for putting this together! I hadn't really thought of #sexandthecity in a good while. This makes me wanna go back and watch the series again. I thought it was cool that they used Sarah Jessica Parker's own baby for that season 6 episode 1 scene with Aiden. While I won't say I thought #satc was a perfect show now when I look back. It does provide a lot of good entertaining and possibly thought provoking episodes. I would love to see more vids like this about the show! 😊 😀 😁

My all-time favorite series!
I really wished they showed more of the winter and autumn seasons. But I guess it had to do with when they filmed the episodes. But we did get those with the first movie so I'm good. lol The biggest thing that I did notice while watching the show and it was on the list - the lack of family or rather the families they had growing up. But understood in what Ms. Mojo said about we make our own families with the friends we have. Such a great show. I always watch when E! has their marathons. I need to do my own marathon on Amazon.

I remember watching the episode where Carrie sees Aidan with the baby, the baby actually gasped out joy when Carrie walked towards them. I remember thinking, she must have really gotten to know this baby in rehearsals or something. Never knew the baby was actually her own!.
