Coach Luca, your stick reviews are some of the best online! 1) Very well constructed by Section w your analysis 2) Like your integration of ball hitting to see the stick im action 3) Your enthusiasm and passion shine thru! Thank You, keep these coming
I watched your video and then, yesterday, I bought this racket because I was surprised by your review and I must say that this racket is worth the money❤❤
I demoed a bunch of racquets coming from being a loyal Pure Storm/Control/Strike user throughout the years after babolat started to give me horrible hand and arm injuries, and I wound up going with the Speed MP 2024. By far the most plush, arm-friendly stick I ever hit with, buttery smooth stability. I honestly also just loved it and thought it was incredibly fun to play with, and you can’t put a spec on that, lol.
Fantastic review Luca! Got two questions for you mate: 1) what string and tension do you recommend on this Speed MP 2024 aux 2.0 frame? 2) how does this compare with the Pure Drive 100?
I feel that the Speed line occupies the space that used to belong to the Radical, and the Gravity has the same niche as the Prestige (I don't see a lot of Radicals or Prestiges being used by my local club players)
Coming from a 2019/2021 Gravity Pro at 330 SW and 9 points HL, this Speed MP with 6 or so grams of lead in the handle would be perfect! Was looking for a bit more spin and power while staying at a SW around 330, but tweeners were generally a bit too light. Will demo soon!
Luca, a very professional and informed review as always! My coach recommended to me Head Speed Mp Youtek (22mm beam) when I was a junior 13/14 yo and I am still playing with the line to this day (26 yo now). I have recently switched from my old YTs to Auxetic 1.0 after a big break - overall, it is a much better, mature racket, more stable for sure. That being said, I do miss the 22mm beam of YT occassionally... it had a more raw/firm/precise feel to it. Speed MP really shaped my game in many ways - all-court type of play... both offence and defence... I cannot emphasize this enough - this is consistenly the best tennis review channel - extremely accurate and very nuanced commemtary from a high level and experienced tennis player who really knows his stuff and can present this information in an excellent way!!! Impressive! Leonid
Is the 22mm one better for flat hitting? I wonder if the string bed became more open from the older ones. Did you try the graphene touch speed mp (the last 22mm speed mp).
Thank you so much for your review! You've compared it to a lot of the rackets I've considered and have similar conclusions (i.e. Wanting more power from the Blade). Would love to see your comparison between the MP and the Pro cuz I WAS thinking of picking up the previous version of the Speed Pro, but now you're making me consider this new edition 😅
Hi, first of all I would like to thank you for this great content ! I'm an intermediate player coming from a Babolat Pure Drive GT (2015) that I want to change do to some (not major) elbow issues. I've tried first an Ezone 100 with Polytour Pro 24/23 Kg (53/50.7 lb). A powerful racquet but with less control, anyway smaller RA 66 compared to my old racquet (71) so much elbow friendly. Then I tried a Yonex Percept 97. What a huge difference (down) in power compared with Ezone 100. Anyway, I've customized this frame at a specialized lab and it has now ~340 g, swing weight 335.5 and balance 32.6 cm (5-6 pct head light). With yonex poly tour rev at 22/21 Kg (48.5/46.3 lb) it is now a dream racquet for me, has enough power, very good control, lower RA (60), very good for my elbow. Initially I was searching for a 100 in racquet with RA ~60 but didn't find it. Now I see this new Speed MP has a lower stiffness (60) at it seems a good platform for customization. I see that you already tested Percept 97, do you think this new speed MP (with some customization) would be a better option for me instead the actual customized Percept 97 ? Thank you very much !
I think that Percept sounds like the perfect racket for you, especially since you seem to have dialled in extremely well for your game. I would only try this Speed if you want something a little more forgiving, but it seems like you're fine with that 97 square inch head on the Percept!
nice review Luca, how do you compare this to the current pure aero 100? Now I'll wait the review of the new pure strike 100 16x20 and I will ask you a comparison between this three frames ;)
Thank you! The Aero definitely has more spin/power still and this thing quite a bit more control. That said, the launch angles are similar so they are definitely comparable rackets. Perhaps I'll get to that in the coming months.
@Luka - couple of things to talk about: 1. what is your tennis background? You play like a former college player. 2. Comparison video - 2024 Speed MP, 2023 Radical MP. 3. Review of Speed Pro 2024 Thanks!
I played casual competitive (weird to say but that's what it was) till I was 14, then stopped to focus on soccer during high school. Then I started playing with my friends in university (recreationally) and started working at Rackets & Runners as a stringer where, as you can imagine, I played a significant amount. Radical vs. Speed could be a great video - I'll keep it in mind, and we'll definitely be reviewing the Speed Pro.
It seems HEAD - and the industry in general is moving towards more comfortable frames which I think is a good thing for the recreational consumer. BABOLAT dropped the RA on the Pure Aero and now with the new Pure Strike which I think will be a direct competitor with the Speed. The new 16x20 string pattern on the PS will likely throw the cat into the pigeons with this growing trend of 100sq racquets that aren't Power frames (Pure Drive / Ezone / Ultra / FX500 etc) and not a Control frame (Blade / Percept 97 and D / Pro Staff) but offering something in the middle. On a side not I think the general consensus is the new Speed cosmetic is a backwards step in comparison to the 2022 version.
I demo'd this against a puredrive and an ezone 100 and the difference in comfort was astounding. Also felt much more stable and forgiving. Coming from a 360+ speed pro I can say without a doubt the auxetic is no gimmick.
I’ve returned to using my Speed Pro 360+ after finding the Extreme Tour and new Pro wasn’t arm friendly to me. I’m grabbing a new Speed MP demo next week as I’m finding the Speed pros launch a bit low sometimes after using the Extremes…is the MP really launchy or not crazy different?
nah, the 2015 one looks best, but even tho, still not a good look. 2022 2023 look stupid and "disconected to the ball" kinda feel. Overall, Head Speed line always has been ugly. Prestige looks ways better. Radical comes after.
Another great racket review!!! Thank you Luca!!! Since the swing weight is so high, would you put leads in the handle? How would you customize your head speed mp?
Speed Pro review please king!! Switched from Blade v8 to v9 and hating it, considering a switch... Tried the Speed Pro 360+ and it was an absolute rocket launcher on serve, tempted to bring it back if the feel is better!
Thank you for the review Luca! Would you recommend this to a beginner? I'm a 6 ft tall person with a slim built. A bit worried that the Babolat Pure Drive would be too stiff to my wrist and arm.. Looking for something less likely to cause injuries
How would you compare it with a Gravity MP, which has more or less the same specs (same head size, more or less same stiffness and swingweight, a little bit lighter)? Thanks
Thanks for this review!! how would you compare this to the Head Gravity MP? more spin and power for the speed? and more control for the Gravity? What about tolerance and ease of play?
Great video and enthusiasm about this racket. Still I wonder what would happen in a comparisson with the Blade 100 V8 or V9 (quite similar I believe). I cant believe that you wont be able to get those in Canada, so I'll be expecting from now on. Kind regards KOEN
Great review Luca, thank you. I agree with almost everything. But the SW of 330 strung (300 unstrung) is not intended by Head, it's simply the result of slightly poor production and quality control. With the official specs of 300g and 320mm balance it should have a SW about 290 (320), which the MP is aimed to. Actually most of the MP come with some more grams and higher balance which results in a SW mostly between 295 and 300 unstrung. So basically the higher SW is more of a bug then a new feature... ;-)
Hi Luca, i am using vcore 98 2023. Love it when spin is spot on, but there are also times when its hard to hit the sweetspot, and the control i think not as good as gravity mp. Do u think speed mp can fulfill the gap with vcore? Vcore has soft bouncy feel when it hits the ball. What abt speed mp feels when it hits the ball?
Luca as an all court ageing player (64) who's rackets have been mainly control blade type dense 16x19 hits the ball flattish with just a little spin now looking for help with power , do you think this could work?
Great videos! Between Speed MP vs Boom Pro vs Extreme Pro, which one feels the best, would be good to get a video on a comparison between those racquets! Cheers!!!
Can you comment more on the sinner graphene touch speed mp? How does it compare overall? A video comparing them would be great. I understand you’d want to optimise the GT Mp with lead, if you’ve added any, was it better?
hi! which hybrid multi/poly strings and tension do you recommend for Wilson blade v8 16x19? I've been testing alu power 115 at mains (54lbs) and alu power rough 130 at crosses (53lbs) and I noticed some arm pain since last week. I'm a beginner /intermediate, can generate my own power so I need more control and help with my spin. 🙏
Alu can be quite stiff especially at that tension. If you want to stick with Luxilon, go for Element, otherwise you should try Yonex Poly Tour Pro. 54 pounds is quite tight; if you can handle the extra power with more spin, go lower than 50.
Hi Luca!!!! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, the whole family is subscribed, we have a question, why do the Head Speed MP in Legend and Matte Black and White feel so different? The Legend feels very rigid and the white one very luxurious, does the paint affect it that much? They both have exactly the same specifications, ordered from Tennis Warehouse by prior matching, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! When you can, please resolve our question.... the channel is wonderful 🎾🎾🎾❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thank you very much for your answer and your excellent channel, I am hesitating between the Speed MP hello Extreme MP, I feel that the Speed is very stable but it is difficult to move it and generate so much in many situations, so I am going to opt for the Extreme, but I want it to be quite stable, so where do you suggest I put the weight so that it has a gameplay similar to the Speed? Thank you very much!
Love your videos Luca but the more I watch the more racquets I feel compelled to put on my list to test out! Currently considering either an Ezone 98 for a bit more spin from my Prestige, or getting a Gravity Pro (you may have drubbed the idea of this racquet into me a bit too much by now haha).
The paint job makes the racquet look huge in people’s hands. Not a good move by Head with this velvet paint IMO either. Very weird from Head who usually has some of the best paint jobs out there. The pj literally is stopping me from trying it out.
hey man great videos! just one question, I recently saw your new shift video and it's making me question myself now. I'm in a debate between the extreme mp and shift 99 coming from an older previous extreme s and I enjoyed the shift and mp both, possibly liking the shift a bit better. then I saw this and it made me question my choice lol for someone who liked the extreme s, you think I would run into problems with control in the future if I chose the shift? which one generates more spin? I couldn't identify that as much with the different strings on them in demoing. Just one more question to, I never got to demo the shift pro and I am a rising junior at age 14. should I go for it for the added control and stability or I it something I'm too young for or should demo first. Sorry for the long text I just want to know from you which one might be better for spin and control as I really don't have a clear guess what to choose.
Hey Luka ! How would you compare this to the Gravity pro ? Ive been using the head youtek inegra speed mp 300 for over 10 years now (20mm beam) and think its finally time for an upgrade 😅 not sure which one to go with between the 2
I am so confused ppl, i am on the hunt for new racket. 34 years old , 3.5 skill level player (playing 2 years) my current racket is Pure Aero Rafa 2021 300gr version (not origin) I can't say i am very happy with my current setup, i mostly love 2h backhand and forehand from baseline. And the raw feel of the ball. I watched every video from you Luca, and i really can't decide what to go for. Thinking for Speed MP, boom pro, blade 98 16x19 or i don't know. I guess a good all around racket is the best choice?
Im a 3.5 ntrp 33male player Currently playing the extreme mp but I have trouble of shooting my winners out ‚ because I can’t generate enough topspin I was wondering if the speed mp or maybe the gravity mp would suit me better ?
I play with the Speed MP Auxetic and a Percept 100 and think they are very very similar. Having trouble choosing. Not sure why you didn’t like the Percept given you liked the speed?
Hello i am an intermediate player I am looking to buy head speed mp lite but confused between the 2022 and 2024 version My forehand is topspin and my backhand a bit flat which one i should buy
I've been using a pure drive for years and like it, but things go a bit crazy at times. I also play a lot of doubles. Would this be a good choice, do you think? BTW I tried the clash but found that for reaction block volleys the ball just died, plus it was lacking power from the baseline. Thanks.
This would be a great racket if you want a little more control than your Pure Drive. Power won't be as high but you'll get used to it and volleys will feel much better.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I am thinking of buying another racket, which one do you think has more power, stability, and which is your personal favorite
Great review. Coming from a Speed MP that had the same shape as the gravity, this is now at the top of my demo list. I didn't like the Gravity MP one bit.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Very similar, even the SW felt very close. However the Speed Pro 24' felt more usable over an extended period of time, while being very comfortable.
I have the Head Graphene Touch Speed MP 2017 and I want an upgrade. I like the movement of this racket but I think that I m losing a little in power, stability and service. I am between Head speed mp-2024, Wildon shirt v1 99, Wildon blade 16x19 , and maybe someone from Yinex company. Can you suggest me someone?
Also, it appears you are an advanced player. Do you have tennis instruction and tip videos or have you thought of that? I would definitely be a consumer!
I dont know about 2023 Speed with 330sw and 23 beam..And for those who like lead at 3 and 9 its gong to be head hevy and the you have to balance out and end up with a heavy frame
It is less manoeuvrable if u compare it with something like blade 98.. I am switching too often depending on the opponent and use either blade 98 or this one
The consensus is that for 1HBH, you must use a 98 or smaller head size. But real life is different. If you are not a master of the 1HBH (like Federer or real adv players), if you do not hit precisely the sweetspot in the forehand 99% of the time (and then probably less than that in the BH), then a little help from the racquet will be welcome in your game and in your 1HBH. The lower static weight compensates the “less” manuverability of the 100 sq in head size. I think this racquet not only suits a 1HBH but actually it is perfect for the amateur player who struggles with that shot.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks! I am debating between this and one of the clashes. What would you recommend? Also what strings are good for elbow pain?
I can tell you firsthand … both are fantastic revisions, but the MP is pretty much ready to go in stock form, whereas the v9 100 is possibly the best 100sq platform stick. The Prestige MP L would also fall into the same category, but you get a head start with a 305g stock frame. The SW on both racquets are anemic and need to be taped up to bring them up to spec of the MP. 🤙🏽
I don't think we'll be reviewing it. It could be fun but it's just too niche of a racket I think at this point in time. Maybe for Nadal's Roland Garros comeback it could be fun to do.
Good question; the Speed has better feel but both have excellent power/control/spin it's just a question of whether you want something more forgiving in the Speed or quicker (the Ezone).
I think this version at 330 SW makes it less easy to use than the previous version. The lower flex from 62 to 60 is marginal. Should have bumped it to 325.
The sw is not 330, what I tested is almost right with weight and balance and the sw is below 320. It must have been a completely out of specs frame that led to misinformation
Will be interesting to see if other online retailers adjust the SW spec as they test more racquets. The sample size may be too small at this point. But it's also telling that SW is the spec racquet makers almost never include as an official design/engineering element when they list their specs. They don't want to be held responsible for it bc it seems to be the one QC variable they have the hardest time controlling. @@LOSTINTENNIS
I hate when they increase swing weight drastically. Racquets called speed but let’s give it a less sluggish 330 SW knowing our QC is trash and some people will get SWs well above that.
I was looking to swap my Speed MP 2015 of 315g for something ~300g, thinking of Shift 300, but now I'm sure to go with Speed MP 2024. Thanks, dude

How was it? It's a different shape too. Less control (beam).
I am thinking of Gravity MP L 2023/2024 (16/20) + lead, just for sake of control.

How it's compared to babolat pure aero 98? Which one is better/more user friendly?
How does the racquet feel on the serve, is it manoeuvrable on the serve
It's a little sluggish but nothing too crazy.
Any suggestions for strings I should use with this? Intermediate player
Babolat RPM Blast at around 50 pounds.
Can you comment more on the sinner graphene touch speed mp? How does it compare overall? A video comparing them would be great. I understand you’d want to optimise the GT Mp with lead, if you’ve added any, was it better?
It's a great racket but nothing special, honestly. The feel is very "grapheney" and I like the thinner beam but this is a much better racket overall.
Tx for review. I was asking myself is why in review not compare with the Blade 100 V8 100inch And always with the 98? Just of interest
You're welcome! We just don't carry the 100 unfortunately.
what's the string??🤩
hi! which hybrid multi/poly strings and tension do you recommend for Wilson blade v8 16x19? I've been testing alu power 115 at mains (54lbs) and alu power rough 130 at crosses (53lbs) and I noticed some arm pain since last week. I'm a beginner /intermediate, can generate my own power so I need more control and help with my spin. 🙏
I am using a full bed of head lynx at 52lb and love it
Alu can be quite stiff especially at that tension. If you want to stick with Luxilon, go for Element, otherwise you should try Yonex Poly Tour Pro. 54 pounds is quite tight; if you can handle the extra power with more spin, go lower than 50.
How does it compare to boom pro , using the 2022 boom but tempted to try the speed or the new boom pro , is the speed more arm friendly
It's definitely more arm friendly! Otherwise, quite different rackets.
Thank you to the whole family! Yes, the paint does change the feel quite a bit; the rubbery matte paint makes it feel more plush/muted.
Ahaha thank you! The Gravity Pro influence tour is in full force.
🤣@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
Which would you recommend more the 2022 ver ot the 2024 one
Both are really good, the 2024 has quite a bit more power with its higher swingweight.
The Shift has more spin and great control. I think (if you liked) spin rackets in the past then the Shift 99 is perfect for you!
Hows the sweet spot vs shift?
Hey Luka ! How would you compare this to the Gravity pro ? Ive been using the head youtek inegra speed mp 300 for over 10 years now (20mm beam) and think its finally time for an upgrade 😅 not sure which one to go with between the 2
You gotta go for the Gravity Pro! Pretty much the same racket you're using.
Would like to know what you think compared with the Blade 100, similar specs with 22mm beam
We'll be getting it in very soon!
23mm FlatBeam low RA (60) VS 23mm FlatBeam high RA (68) how does it differ in playability?
Any suggestions how to clean this rubbery coat color? Cause it’s easy to stain :(
Thinking of switching to it from yonex v core pro 97. One handed backhand. What u think?
That's a pretty big change up, I'd definitely recommend a demo first because that bigger head will take a second to get used to.
Great review!
Thank you!
I am so confused ppl, i am on the hunt for new racket.
34 years old , 3.5 skill level player (playing 2 years)
my current racket is Pure Aero Rafa 2021 300gr version (not origin)
I can't say i am very happy with my current setup, i mostly love 2h backhand and forehand from baseline.
And the raw feel of the ball.
I watched every video from you Luca, and i really can't decide what to go for.
Thinking for Speed MP, boom pro, blade 98 16x19 or i don't know.
I guess a good all around racket is the best choice?
Im a 3.5 ntrp 33male player
Currently playing the extreme mp but I have trouble of shooting my winners out ‚ because I can’t generate enough topspin
I was wondering if the speed mp or maybe the gravity mp would suit me better ?
If you want more control for your less spin friendly game, go for the Gravity. If you want the racket to help you add spin, go for the Speed.
What about String and tension? What do you recommend?
Head Lynx Tour between 47-52 pounds!
I play with the Speed MP Auxetic and a Percept 100 and think they are very very similar. Having trouble choosing. Not sure why you didn’t like the Percept given you liked the speed?
Something about the swing pattern on the Percept is odd to me but that could just be a personal issue.
Is this a true Djokovic actual radical or a new paintjob of speed ?
Neither
Neither - Djokovic uses a pro stock and this is different to any previous Speed in playability.
Hello i am an intermediate player
I am looking to buy head speed mp lite but confused between the 2022 and 2024 version
My forehand is topspin and my backhand a bit flat which one i should buy
You can go for either as they are very similar. If you want a more solid feel go for the new one.
The black speed mp they did for the usopen looked amazing. This looks mehhh
If I speak...
@@RacketsRunnersVancouverThanks so much!
Hey Luka. I have been watching your videos for a while now, and I love your reviews. How do you think the speed mp compares to the gravity mp
Thank you very much! The Speed is much quicker and has more spin and the Gravity has more control but in general, they are quite similar.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I am thinking of buying another racket, which one do you think has more power, stability, and which is your personal favorite
Can we compare the Head Speed with the Wilson Clash 100?
I'll mention a few rackets when the new Clash comes out.
How it handles 1 handed backhand compared to Radical or Yonnex Percept?
It's a bit slow on the one hander IMO. The Radical or Percept would be better.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thanks!
Great review. Coming from a Speed MP that had the same shape as the gravity, this is now at the top of my demo list. I didn't like the Gravity MP one bit.
The Gravity Pro would be more like that Speed MP you had, give it a shot as well.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Very similar, even the SW felt very close. However the Speed Pro 24' felt more usable over an extended period of time, while being very comfortable.
100 sq inches with 330sw? That’s hard to swing when compared to 98
A bit, for sure, but it will have a much more forgiving sweet spot.
Hi. For a 35 year old woman who plays 3 times a week would you recomend the mp or the mpl? Thanks 👍🏻
Either one will work but if you want to swing a little faster, go for the MPL.
Go for the new Speed MP (2024). It's thicker so it has more power and stability!
How’s this new speed mp compared to the percept 100?
I talk about it a bit in the video but I'll try to do a full comparison soon!
difference of the pro version with the mp version?
The Pro is heavier, denser and generally harder to use.
Also, it appears you are an advanced player. Do you have tennis instruction and tip videos or have you thought of that? I would definitely be a consumer!
I don't particularly want to get into the coaching side of things but never say never!
Have you compared to the pro?
To be clear you’re comparing to the blade v9 98?
damn, wish they made the beam thinner. The older mp feels like a slow mp. this will likely feel slow too.
Luca: Speed mp vs pure strike 100… do you have a preference?
That's a good question; probably still the Speed MP.
I dont know about 2023 Speed with 330sw and 23 beam..And for those who like lead at 3 and 9 its gong to be head hevy and the you have to balance out and end up with a heavy frame
Hi Lukas
Is it speed MP good for one hand back hand .
Are they any good 100 in rackets good for one hand back hand ?
I think the general consensus for 1HBH is go for something smaller than a 100 but the Speed would be one of the best 100s.
Thanks Lukas, I will check it
It is less manoeuvrable if u compare it with something like blade 98..
Would this be a good racket for elbow pain?
Yes! It's very soft and quite forgiving so definitely up there with some of the most comfortable rackets.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks! I am debating between this and one of the clashes. What would you recommend? Also what strings are good for elbow pain?
It's definitely easy to use. But then again so is a Toyota Prius.
Pure meh
😂
How does it compare to the pure aero 98
More forgiving and much more comfortable too.
Head Speed MP 2024 or Wilson Blade v9 🤔
Very good question... ⏳
Waiting for this to be answered 😂
How does it compare to the Dunlop CX400 tour?
I haven't tried that racket, unfortunately.
Better than the previous one? I thought the previous one lacks a little bit of power
They are very similar but at least in stock form, this one is better because of the higher swing weight.
which one is better? speed mp 2024 or blade v9 100
I haven’t played with the Blade 100 so I really can’t say but the Speed is fantastic.
Speed mp 2.0 has more mass in the head?
Luca what about the origin ? I didn’t see a single video.
Just on the tier list.
I don't think we'll be reviewing it. It could be fun but it's just too niche of a racket I think at this point in time. Maybe for Nadal's Roland Garros comeback it could be fun to do.
@racketsrunnersvancouver (Luka) - how would you rank new Head Speed MP against EZONE 98?
Good question; the Speed has better feel but both have excellent power/control/spin it's just a question of whether you want something more forgiving in the Speed or quicker (the Ezone).
I think it feels like pure drive babolat, plus the auxetic feel.
Would you recommend for an an advanced 14 year old athletic competitive girl playing itf the mp or the mp L?thanks
At 14, probably still the MPL, but if you can demo both you'll have a better understanding of what works.
We will see when we get more but I've tested 3 now that average out to 330 (of course it depends on strings).
No thanks. @@RacketsRunnersVancouver
And what are the other specs concerning weight and balance. Assuming it is more than the official specs 300g and 320mm ...@@RacketsRunnersVancouver
is it good for beginners?
Try the MPL! The lower weight will make it more forgiving.
I hate when they increase swing weight drastically. Racquets called speed but let’s give it a less sluggish 330 SW knowing our QC is trash and some people will get SWs well above that.
Hey, this or a pure drive?
I prefer the Speed.
