great video, you think like me. The video absolute delivers everything you need to know. More in depth and honest than regular commercial (review) videos and not getting too nerdy about irrelevant stuff
You've definitely got the right idea, in a way. It's going to have a more crisp, modern feel but in terms of actually power, at least in stock form, I would say the Gravity Tour has more. That being said, if you can dial in an Extreme Tour with lead tape and what not, I know so many people who absolutely love the power, spin and control they get. It just takes a lot of work and I've never personally gotten there.
I love your MP roundups! Looking forward to watching this one! The only thing (for me) that is missing, is that you should the actual specs of the samples you used for the test as that can have impact on the outcome. Also helps people know where to tinker with lead tape etc to optimise the specs to their own games.
I definitely like that idea but I'm trying to find a way to make these videos shorter not longer right now and every idea I have is for adding more stuff 😅
I found the Boom MP to be a great racquet but I have a very fast swing speed and I’m a bit short for a guy. It gave me great pop and spin for a lighter frame. Adding 6 grams of lead to make it perfect but absolutely love this racquet.
Big fan of your videos! I’ve got the Radical MP with Lynx Tour Orange 17g at 50lbs - love the precision, getting ok spin, but could really use a bit more power. Any recommendations? Looks like maybe you had hyper g in your radical? Any advice greatly appreciated!!
I would categorize speed mp towards more on the power/spin racquet than control. From my experience with speed mp auxetic it was a rocket launcher for me.
Hey Luca, great review once again! Can I ask you: you had a Head Speed Graphene Touch MP in the video about the Head Pro lines ... can you comment on that racket? How does it play, how does it compare to the new Speed? And if you know (and care to) what about the Head Speed Graphene Touch Pro? They were the last Speed rackets with a 22 mm beam, and I can probably get my hands on one (or both) of them (in the normal paint-job, not the blue-black one you have). I'd really appreciate your opinion. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
I haven't used the Graphene Touch Pro but I am a big fan of the MP. I like the thinner beam in general although I do think 23 may be technically better for power and spin. It feels a little bit quicker and there's a more pure ball feel (although keep in mind this was during the worst of Graphene so it's by no means traditional).
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thank you, Luca, I appreciate you taking the time! Were the Graphene Head rackets that bad? So are you saying that you think the newest Speed (MP or Pro) are the better choice? Closer to the "golden age" of Head? I have seen this sentiment a lot lately (I have been away from tennis for a good while) that Head has come back to being closer to what they once stood for. I probably will not buy a Touch if the newer offerings are better again.
Do you think adding some weight (5 grams or so) to the handle to the Speed MP is a good move or not? I just made the switch from the Gravity MP (with 5 grams in the handle + overgrip), and found the Speed MP a bit more top heavy and less maneuverable. So would adding weight to the handle help you think? Or just try to get used to the difference between the two more before customizing it?
You can watch our video on the best rackets for a one handed backhand for more information but I like rackets with a small head size and good feel like the Prestige.
Cracking content! Currently play in with a Gravity Tour 360+, toying with the idea of an Extreme Tour to get some more pop and spin, am I barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks for this video. But Radical even from old is not very good in Control anyway. So it's safe to say people don't go for a head if they need control.
Because he mentioned the beam width of the radical... Are there any other rackets out there, that have a beam that gets thinner at the top like the radical?
YONEX Ezone is probably the biggest competitor to the Radical - with a variable beam and 98inch head size. That said they are more powerful than the Radical but are also stiffer
@@OldManMidnight but the ezone doesnt get much thinner at the top of the racket. I know there are a lot that get a little thinner at the top but not thinner as the shaft like the radical.
@@DasSonntagthe Ezone is thick at the top - hence it's fairly stable for it's weight. It gets ridiculously thin at the throat going from 23.5 / 25 / 21 mm. For comparison the HEAD Radical MP specs are 20 / 23 / 21 mm
@@OldManMidnight yes, i understand, sorry for my rather mediocre english. What i meant was: the Radical is thinner on the top of the hoop than in the shaft. I was looking for rackets that share the same trait like that. Top thinner than the Shaft
also extreme tour is closer to radical mp than the extreme mp. So just looking at mps would be a mistake. Maybe also consider looking at the gravity tour if you are looking at those two. gravity tour does offer more control and solidity with the 10 extra grams at 305.
Im a solid NTR 3.5 player (playing for 2,5 years, once a week just with a friend - no competitive yet). 33year old male. I like to hit big from the baseline more, than rushing through the net. I’m trying to play with spin but I’m not the best spin player of my technique. So if I try to hit winners, I often shoot em too flat and they are going too long - out. I’m actually playing the 2023 head extreme mp, because I thought „if I’m not good enough to generate spin with a good technique, maybe the extreme mp can help me with it. But now I’m thinking, maybe I need a more control friendly racket. I’m thinking of the speed or the gravity line. But I don’t know which is better for me and which model i should take (MP, Tour, Pro of gravity or speed) What do you suggest me to get?
Could watch you talk tennis all day man, please keep this content up. Maybe you an Beckett can start debating racquets you disagree on, finishing with a mini Netflix smash to prove a point... I'll watch whatever you put out anyway.
The Shift is a more precise racket all things considered and it also generates quite a bit more spin. The Boom is more for players with a slower, more compact stroke who want that added free power that it gives.
The beam makes for a slight loss in feel/control but by no means does it make those “bad”. When you compare it to the rest of the MPs it’s still excellent but compared to the best control rackets it’s a little less.
From different reviews of the Speed MP 2024, HEAD is bridging the gap between the Speed and Radical by offering more control. It sounds like HEAD have modified the Speeds swing weight and have stabilized the hoop by adding weight there - this apparently has effected its previously quick manoeuvrability
I think it would be a bit bizarre, but then again, I avoided the Ezone 100 for a while because I thought that too and that's a phenomenal racket so I may be wrong.

Hi. No I am serous they literally crack at the neck. I sent both of mine back to head and they refunded me. I then started to ask around on the internet and around clubs. Sooooo many people have the same thing. Some did not even see it until I told them to take a look

Babolat/Yonex comparison next?
Pure Drive vs Ezone
Pure Aero vs Vcore
Pure Strike vs Percept

Pointless as they're so different.

goat of racket reviews
Thank you 🐐
You're a fantastic presenter. Thanks for the detailed reviews.
Thank you very much!
Can you make a suggestion on how you can customize the gravity mp?
Yes, leather grip and a bit of weight at 3/9 to bring the swingweight up to 325 and you’re set!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks for the recommendation, can you briefly describe how the customized one compares to the speed mp and gravity pro?
I can't stop spending money on new rackets after watching your videos 🤣
Ahahaha I'm showing this to my boss 😭
Great video. I actually don't mind the Boom MP at all, I quite enjoy it. It's way less hollow feeling than the Clash.
It definitely feels better than the Clash, totally agree. To me it's just a little too difficult to control altogether.

Only the best…

The courts that you're playing on in this video look so nice; are those courts at 6:13 public courts in the GVA?
Yes they are but I'm not sure Beckett wants me sharing his secret sauce.
Info about Radical beam was wrong, the throat is 21mm and sides are 23mm

would be great a comparison between the blade and the speed mp 2024 versions

RPM Blast 17 weirdly enough.

What string did you strung for gravity and speed?
For this hit, I used what was already on our demos. Lynx Tour in the Extreme and Tour Bite in the Gravity.

Do you think speed mp and boom mp are better in terms of forgiveness and serve?
The Boom MP is difficult to control but the Speed MP is forgiving and good for control.

I don't have it to test, unfortunately.
What strings are on the radical, anyone know?
Toroline Caviar!
Head speed mp is considered a control orientated frame? 🤔
You should have included the Prestige MPL, the best of all...
Unfortunately, we just don't carry it.
Nice vid
What does MP mean? Why is it in front of all head rackets?
Midplus which used to mean around a 97/98 square inch head size but now Head kind of uses it to denote their most "standard" version of the racket.
