This is one of the tennis channels that I enjoy the most. Luca's reviews are incredible, so detailed and full of information, explained in a way that adapts to all types and levels of players and easy to understand even for foreign followers of his channel like me. Greetings from Venezuela and continue with the great work and excellent content.
Luca - The term you're looking for is "pleener" -- a player/tweener hybrid -- whose design is mostly a player frame, but with tweener characteristics and benefits.
I’ve played with all 3 racket models before and loved the percept 100D! One of the best all round rackets I think I’ve played with as an intermediate+ player, would love to get a review on this at some point as I find the 18x19 string pattern to be a hidden gem for some players!
Having owned the Speed MP 2022 and played with the updated 2024 version it's quite an update that HEAD made to the frame. The frame feels more balanced overall, the string bed feels more controlled and it is solid enough to defend against heavier ground strokes without wanting to twist out of your hand. There feels like only a slight drop in manoeuvrability overall but other than that it's a far more impressive 100 than its predecessor
As a beginner that plays one handed backhand I have to say that the blade feels like a cheat code. I demoed the speed mp legend, ezone 100 and blade 100 out of the 100 inch rackets. I honestly aimed mostly at finding a great racket for my backhand because I don't want my OHB to be my weak side. And I have to say blade was just insanely light, flickable and stable for OHB that I honestly fell in love with it even tho it was very very hard to top the legend. I tried the ezone 98 aswell as head extreme 2022 and these rackets were just much harder to play with and a lot less fogiving. So I can highly recommend to try the blade if u have a OHB.If I played a THB I wouls for sure go for speed but yeah like this blade it is😃
Thanks. I'm currently considering the Blade 100 and Ezone 98 and 100. I've tried the Blade. Haven't tried any Ezone yet. Tried Percept and found it too heavy for OHB after a set.
Love the Roger Pro 2’s you’re rockin! I bought two pair the first day they released and I’m ordering two more immediately. For my foot, they’re the best tennis shoes I’ve ever worn, let alone being the best looking tennis shoe I’ve ever seen! So simple but clean with the aesthetic.
I know from your previous review of the Percept 100 its not the racket for you. However have to say I am loving this frame. Having used the Ezone 98 for the last 2 years solid it was always going to take a lot for me to change racket but the Percept 100 is amazing. I get so much more control and accuracy. Hard to be precise but I would say in terms of sending balls long I feel I am getting a 50% improvement with the Percept 100. I really cant see me going back to the Ezone 98 which 2 months ago would have been unthinkable for me.
@@Le-Chuck I would say the comfort is about the same as the Ezone 98, no better no worse. Stability and spin is much better though than the Ezone 98. Feels like you have more control and I am not sending as many balls long. Less power than the Ezone, but feels like you can place shots better and a great deal of top spin when needed. I can though only compare this racket to the Ezone as that is what I had been using for the last 2 years. I dont change rackets that often so it takes a lot for me to change and I really cant see me going back to the Ezone now, it hasnt come out of my bag since I started using the Percept 100!
@Le-Chuck no hadn't tried the Vcore Pro before and to be honest I didn't know they did a 100 inch version. I just felt my Ezone was a little over powered at times so wanted a frame with more control. I like Yonex frames and the Percept 100 feels lovely to use, I am really happy with it and super impressed. It just seems to suit my game. Also it has a 16 / 19 string pattern which I prefer and again this seems to help with extra spin and was the same string pattern as the Ezone. Also the weight is much the same as the Ezone so I think all these factors helped me move to the Percept without feeling like a complete change of racket! More a transition than a fresh start!!
Thanks for the great review. Becket recommended the Speed MP to me recently so I went out and bought both an MP and Speed Pro. I am super impressed with both frames, but the extra spin generated by the MP is making it the frame of choice so far. Both strung with Lynx at 52. The launch angle of the Speed Pro is significantly different also. Much, much lower. Thanks to you and Becket for providing such comprehensive reviews.
I really prefer the speed mp 2023 black version. I think it is just the perfect everything for me. I like the speed 2024 but I don't like too much weight, it is balanced differently from what I like
Just switched from the 2022 speed mp to the vcore 100 although I had considered the percept.. per your description it was the right choice as there is the great spin benefit which I easily see in my game
I just switched to the Blade 100 from the Radical MP. I have a big serve and forehand, but I'm getting older and slower. I get more spin, pocketing, feel, and overall forgiveness without giving up much. It may be a bit more sluggish than the RadMP, but I think that's because my B100 arrived over-spec (around 330sw). My backhand slice can fly a bit on me if I get lazy with my body, but it's great when I am playing properly. I can manage a lot more serve variety with the B100 as well. Just a great frame.
Seriously love your reviews! I was surprised to see this since I've been demoing these three recently lol Because of your reviews, my racket journey led me to the Speed Pro Legend, and was on the fence between Blade 100 V9 or the Percept 97 for a "relax" racket. I'm leaning more towards the Blade 100 V9. Thank you!
Nice video. What amuses me a bit is that you mentioned not to bring the Gravity to the test, but still refer to it so often that just by listening I could have sworn that you included some hitting footage with a Gravity. And without playing any of these racquets (I am not a 100 type, I will stick to my 98 size) I could imagine what it would be like. To give Yonex some credits, they compete with only 3 racquet lines. Compare that to Wilson or Head. Hard to cover the ful range to give an alternative to everybody.
3.5 player training for 4.0. Started my journey on the pure drive but now that I’m settling into all court play style I’ve picked up a radical MP and B100. Initially HATED the B100s headlight feel and softer frame. I typically run Kirschbaum supersmash orange at 54 on PD and 52 on Radical but recently tried hyper g on blade at 100 after your string and racquet combo recommendation video . Been playing some of my best tennis yet when I rally with 4.0+ hitters and feel I can absolutely womp on the ball as long as I’m focused on maximum footwork and leg drive. With the PD I over hit vs low pace 3.5 seniors but the blade is really helping me keep those in court for matches. Funny enough it’s quickly turning into my preferred match choice.
Blade has aero/"cut through air" tech on the outside thus called Blade..and Speed has it on the inside . Pro Open has it both on the inside and outside.
really feel like the more rounded frames shine out in the recent 2-3 years seeing so many people switching from their PD-type frames or classic "Thor hammers" to the 98s or 100s from speed, blade, ezone or vcore line
Do you recommend 100 sq in for most intermediate players? I really don't like their feel especially with my OHBH, so I look for more forgiving 97-98 sq in. Do you have recommendation for such rackets?
You can go for a forgiving 98 like the Ezone but there are quite a few 100s nowadays that don't have the classic tweener feel which you might be talking about.
Hey Luca, great video man. First off, love the contact on the overheads. Secondly, could you please review the clash 100 roland garros 2024 - someone said it played different to the Vcore 95L Naomi Osaka edition. Just trying to get a fair comparison here. Lastly, just wanted to take a second to appreciate your receding hairline. It might be time to start wearing the headband like our good ol pal Rafa. Anyways, love the content keep it up
Yes would also love a review on those two frames! On a separate note… can you please review your rackets with every grip size (0-5) because they all play different! Just a tip to make the play tests more fair. Love the content man and I’ll be cheering on England with you this euros!
I had these 3 in the bag and ended up settling for the Blade 100. Our opinions generally lined up. The Percept played its best for me at 320 SW, more than that caused it to be too sluggish. The Blade 100 played best at 330 SW because you make up for the lower power and it’s still super fast through the air. And the speed came in at 327 SW and played super well. I think they all played more similar to each other than your video makes it sound, and that the biggest difference was feel. Percept raw, Speed muted, and Blade 100 solid as if it were foam filled (perhaps it is..)
Hey, which one do you feel is more maneuverable and quicker through the air at similiar SW between Speed and Blade like your setup. Also how would you compare their power levels in similiar SW setup, any notiecable difference? Where did you add weight at Percept? Did you try adding few only at 12 to boost SW to 325-330?
@@M98704 blade most maneuverable, speed the most power. Percept got super super sluggish at the same SW. For Percept I added at 12 to get to 320, then 3/9 to get to 330 SW and it got too sluggish. Plays fine around 320
I'm surprised that you are saying how similar the 98 and 100 blade are. Other youtube reviews complained saying that the precision is much worse in the 100. Great review!!! Did you have a chance to test the percept 100d? It's a great racket that it should be in the demo list for people that like precision rackets.
I wouldn't say they're too similar but, yes, precision is really good on the Blade 100. I have briefly played with the Percept 100D but not enough for a review as we unfortunately don't carry it.
@@SilverBloodedOne Correct, In my personal experience I did improve my OHBH using the this percept, I found it more forgiving than the 97 since I'm an intermediate recreacional player.
I have a question regarding comparison between vcore 100 vs Blade 100. My son liked vcore 100 but I couldn't find Blade 100 demo. If you can make video or even comment about this comparison
Hey Luca! Hope you are doing well! I was curious about how different are the head gravity pro when compared to the Wilson Blade V9 100 sq. inches? I was looking to make a switch for a little bit more comfortable aspect but a less dense string pattern. So, was l curious about your perspective
Salut !
Good review. But at the end, one may have their own preference. For me, wilson Blade 100 V9 is the one suit me well. It is worth checking also the review by Tennis Warehouse
The Speed for an all-court player, the Blade 100 for someone looking for control and comfort without sacrificing user-friendliness, and the Aero 100 for big spin players.
Amazing review! Well done! I have ordered the Head Speed MP Legend 2024. All black is much nicer and the matte finish in black/white gets dirtier on clay. After testing it, I have decided to add around 8.8 grams in the butt cap to change the balance from 4HL to 7HL. The 8.8 grams extra static weight won’t influence my game in a negative way and the added weight won’t mess much with the swing weight which is between 325-330. That is the only aspect I feel needs to change to really make it better. What do you think about it?
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver How about the string? Head Lynx Tour 1.30 at 23kg in the mains and Iso Speed Classic Pro 1.20 at 24kg in the crosses. Or 24 and 25? First time will use the setup of course.
great comparison! would you say the shift 99 does not belong in this category? after all is constant beam at 23.5, much slimmer than PAs, Ezones, Vcores…
It's interesting because it's so similar to the Speed on paper that you would think so but it's actually quite different on court (maybe not so much to the Speed) but definitely to the other two. I may make a Speed vs. Shift video in the coming weeks.
Hi , I recently switched to a pure aero 100 2023 from yonex vcore pro 100, and arm issues that very occasionally came on the vcore, happen every time on the pure aero, I cannot play at 100% with it and it feels very stiff and awkward to swing. I'm looking to change, Is the speed mp 2024 an arm friendly/comfortable racket to use?
Been playing with a Prince Phantom 100G and looking for something that is a bit more forgiving and a bit pro "easy" power. Demoing the radicals and the Blade 100 and curious if you have any comparison to the 100G?
Hi Luca. On the Perspect 97D racket, would it make a big difference to put the Head Lynx tour 17/1.25mm string and the 16/1.30mm champagne string, both weighing 49 pounds? and for me to reach 49 pounds on the electronic machine, would I have to put around 40? Thanks
Speeds are aero dynamic inside the hoop. The Blades are aerodynamic on the outside thus the name blade as it cuts through the air. If someone could make the Blade and the Speed have a baby... it would be great. Maybe thats the New RF 01 ? Until then we can search for Used Wilson Pro Open's.
Hi guys I got my blade 100 like a month ago and since I switched from extreme tour it feel a bit too light at times. I would like to add some weight but I don't know how much and where would make sense. I play one hander so I would still prefer lighter head for that reason but just overall bit more stable feel. Any help would be great😁
Hi great review! I'm looking at the blade 100 to replace my shift as I feel for flatter shots the shift is more unpredictable, but i'm worried that the spin potential on the blade 100 will be very low compared to the shift. Would really love your opinion ❤
I'm a strong intermediate, I wanted to switch from my pure drive to a more "controlled" 100. I playtested the blade 100 several times, loved it, but eventually its below average access to spin was a deal breaker for me. the blade will almost force you into hitting flatter, where it just shines. It has some spin, but brushing the ball just feels jarring & unconfortable. BH Slices are great though !
Hi Luca - great channel! A 55 yr old, intermediate, playing very regularly. Need perceived soft RA for shoulder issue, having come from a PA100. Love the HSMP, but cant , yet, get past the swing weight. I also play with a Blade 98L v8 which I love but it's RA 65 , SW 320 and lacks a little power. Would the Blade 100 v9 be better for me out of the Head and Wilson in this comparison re SW? Or push through with giving the HSMP a decent shout and get used to swing weight? Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work!
I came from PA100 to Blade 100 v8. Tested several racquets (15+) and Blade was the most playable and comfortable. Speed mp is very similar but head heavier, launchier and slightly less comfortable.
I agree, the 2024 Speed MP REALLY is the BEST of its class! With it’s beefier swing weight it has so much depth, plow, and stability! With HyperG Soft on it I have so much control and can hit anywhere I want; either flat or topspin. Feels like I’m playing with my old Blade V7 16x19. Old Speed MP users probably won’t like this model if they can’t handle the upped 330 swing weight. And for those who say it’s not a good stick, you’re probably a 3.0 max and shouldn’t be throwing out opinions to be honest. 🤷🏻♂️🤭
@@Le-Chuck But everybody's saying that 18\20 has less distinctive\launchy sweetspot than 16\19. How a more distinctive\launchy sweetspot helps forgivness?
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver that sucks. I’ve been demoing the strike 100 16x20 the past few days and am really considering switching from my aero but I haven’t tried the strike 98 and don’t know how it compares.
I noticed that the 3 rackets are strung differently (not only in the presentation, but also from the images when you're using them on the court). In order to properly compare different rackets, aren't you supposed to string them in the same way? The same racket strung differently can produce totally different sensations. I'm not an expert, but I think it doesn't make any sense to compare 3 different rackets strung in 3 different ways because you can't know if what you feel is due to the racket or to the strings. Also, some strings suit certain rackets better than others (for instance, alu power strings are great, but they don't really suit a pure drive...). So, in my opinion, to properly compare different rackets, you should use the same strings, strung with the same tensions and the strings used should be as "neutral" as possible (by nutreal, I mean they shouldn't suit a racket better than the other)
It's true and false at the same time. The reality is that you need to pick a right string for a racquet, because some strings feel like shit on some racquets. For example, I strung with RPM Blast my Blade 100 three times in a row with three different tensions, and I really wanted to throw the racquet out of the window. I have a 40$ racquet and it felt better. But before doing so, I decided to string it with some random softer string, it was Wilson Revolve Spin, and it made me completely change my mind of getting rid of it. And I have Pure Aero 100 strung with RPM Blast right next to it. If you compare these two raquetes with the same string it would be unfair.
Nah, the speed mp feels clubby and is slow through the air. It's good allrounder if you don't know what you really need. I need less power, more control, more speed through the air and manoeuvrability. And i need more weight in my racket but that is really changeable. As such rackets that are more for me are: gravity pro, radical pro, percept 97, vcore 95, cx200 tour
On paper it is exactly what I am looking for. But I’ve really disliked every one I’ve hit. Feels wrong, new ones have too much weight exactly at 12. Playing with Prince Tour 100 now

I wouldn't say they're too similar but, yes, precision is really good on the Blade 100. I have briefly played with the Percept 100D but not enough for a review as we unfortunately don't carry it.
Of the 3 mentioned, which one would you recommend for a player with a One Handed Backhand?
He did a video about this and the percept was #1
@@martinltmr8590 The 100 or the 97?
@@martinltmr8590 I thought that was the Percetp 97, not the Percept 100?
@@SilverBloodedOne Correct, In my personal experience I did improve my OHBH using the this percept, I found it more forgiving than the 97 since I'm an intermediate recreacional player.
@@martinltmr8590 nice to hear! Are you still using the racquet? Or have you tied the 100D?
I have a question regarding comparison between vcore 100 vs Blade 100. My son liked vcore 100 but I couldn't find Blade 100 demo. If you can make video or even comment about this comparison
Hey Luca!
Hope you are doing well!
I was curious about how different are the head gravity pro when compared to the Wilson Blade V9 100 sq. inches? I was looking to make a switch for a little bit more comfortable aspect but a less dense string pattern. So, was l curious about your perspective
Salut !
When a review of Percept 100D?? Please
Luca have got the opportunity to try out the Percept 100D yet? Any update? Best
On Roger pro 2 review coming soon??
Yes!
Could you do a video of rackets for type os players, like counter puncher
Hi Luca ! How do you think the speed mp 2024 plays compared to the blade v9 98 16x19. Im an all court player.... which one would suit me ?
Good review. But at the end, one may have their own preference. For me, wilson Blade 100 V9 is the one suit me well. It is worth checking also the review by Tennis Warehouse
Blade 100 vs Pure Aero 100 vs Speed MP, which do you recommend for which type of player
That's exactly what I would do to it!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver How about the string?
Head Lynx Tour 1.30 at 23kg in the mains and Iso Speed Classic Pro 1.20 at 24kg in the crosses. Or 24 and 25? First time will use the setup of course.
About this technology in the Blade 100 that it stiffens when you hit hard similarly to the Clash, is this also true for the Blade 98?
I need Blade 98 and Percept 97 vid plsssssss
and also where's the Percept 100D
We have one up with the old Blade - not sure it's worth doing a new one but if that's something that interests people I may do it.
great comparison! would you say the shift 99 does not belong in this category? after all is constant beam at 23.5, much slimmer than PAs, Ezones, Vcores…
It's interesting because it's so similar to the Speed on paper that you would think so but it's actually quite different on court (maybe not so much to the Speed) but definitely to the other two. I may make a Speed vs. Shift video in the coming weeks.
Nice review 👌🏼
Thank you!
Head speed is better bcause stiffness RA 64
Yes, the Speed is a very comfortable racket.
Hey Luca, what racquet would you say is best for slices, drop shot, drop volley, basically best racquet for touch and feel.
Good question, I should make a video about that, but the Percept 97 for me!
Best tennis racquets for flat hitting, tips?
Anything with a small head size, constant beam and 18x20 string pattern.
blade 100 is a gem for intermediate + player, if you hit flat. And, like lucas said, go for a smaller head size if you're advanced enough.
What about tfight 305 vs whiteout 305 18x20? 😊
What was recommended string for head speed mp 2024? What was the one you are using?
I use Head Lynx Tour.
Been playing with a Prince Phantom 100G and looking for something that is a bit more forgiving and a bit pro "easy" power. Demoing the radicals and the Blade 100 and curious if you have any comparison to the 100G?
I've never played with the 100G unfortunately so I really can't say.
Hi Luca. On the Perspect 97D racket, would it make a big difference to put the Head Lynx tour 17/1.25mm string and the 16/1.30mm champagne string, both weighing 49 pounds?
and for me to reach 49 pounds on the electronic machine, would I have to put around 40? Thanks
No don’t worry too much about a change in guage!
Big differences between ezone 98 and blade 100?
Yes, definitely. The Ezone has more spin and power and the Blade has more control and a more traditional flex.
What a pity that you didn’t bring the Dunlop CX 400 Tour into the comparison…
We don't carry it, unfortunately.
Any help would be great😁
Try a leather grip!
My Percept 100 is the most incredible racquet I have ever owned or hit with. Anyone who tries it says the same. You just cannot beat "made in Japan".

String type and tension?
Interesting. Can you describe what it plays like?
Great info! It is a racquet that i have never tried. Could you compare it with the Ezone 100? Thanks
Hi great review! I'm looking at the blade 100 to replace my shift as I feel for flatter shots the shift is more unpredictable, but i'm worried that the spin potential on the blade 100 will be very low compared to the shift. Would really love your opinion ❤
It will be low but you’ll get used to it as it’s definitely not low on spin!
What the best way to increase swing weight on blade 100?
Add some lead tape to the top of the hoop!
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thank you! How much sw is added with each gram of tape?
Hi Luca - great channel! A 55 yr old, intermediate, playing very regularly. Need perceived soft RA for shoulder issue, having come from a PA100. Love the HSMP, but cant , yet, get past the swing weight. I also play with a Blade 98L v8 which I love but it's RA 65 , SW 320 and lacks a little power. Would the Blade 100 v9 be better for me out of the Head and Wilson in this comparison re SW? Or push through with giving the HSMP a decent shout and get used to swing weight? Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work!
Go for the Blade 100 if you're looking for that lower swingweight. It's still plenty playable and more comfortable in that regard.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks Luca, as brilliant as ever...
I came from PA100 to Blade 100 v8. Tested several racquets (15+) and Blade was the most playable and comfortable. Speed mp is very similar but head heavier, launchier and slightly less comfortable.
How do you think the speed mp would cope with a bit of lead? And would you put it at 3 and 9 or more at 5 and 7?
Its already got a pretty beefy swingweight so I'm not sure its necessary. I wouldn't use any other than to match.
Percept 100D is still not available in Canada???
I think it is but we haven't brought it in yet.
Don't know about that 3.0 claim but everything else I think is spot on.
Hi, what is the tension used for the Hyper G Soft on the Speed MP?
What strings and tension do you use for the speed mp?
In this video I was using RPM Blast at 53 pounds.
Which one is better for arm friendly?
Blade 100 and Speed 100 are equal to me!
Are you ever going to review the Percept 97D or 100D? Or too niche?
Not too niche but we just haven't brought them in yet.
Is this Blade 100 the 18 x 20 or the 16 x 19 version?
Blade 100 only exists in 16/19.
(What you ask is for the 98 version 😉)
16x19!
@@Le-Chuck I wonder why it's only 16\19. Wouldn't 18\20 give you the same benefits on 100 as they do on 98?
@@sheeftz
The 100 was made for more forgiveness so 16/19 is logical.
@@Le-Chuck But everybody's saying that 18\20 has less distinctive\launchy sweetspot than 16\19. How a more distinctive\launchy sweetspot helps forgivness?
If you are used to play with snow shoes from your ski hut then the Boom MP and Percept is a great choice.
Do you guys have the strike 100 yet?
Unfortunately not.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver that sucks. I’ve been demoing the strike 100 16x20 the past few days and am really considering switching from my aero but I haven’t tried the strike 98 and don’t know how it compares.
Why do the head of your rackets look so round.
Looks like they weren't clamped properly on the stringing machine.
🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️Versa-racket, multi-racket, rounder category/type racket?
Speed MP is the best Racket for All players, and even heavy top spinner. Also it's very comfortable to swing.
Tweeny Mini Forgivmini 😅
A player's tweener is the name you're looking for. Or, "average-club-player-who-thinks-he's-too-good-for-a-pure-drive" racket
