- SNOWDON | We hike the Llanberis route up Wale's highest mountain - Snowdon! (Yr Wyddfa) This route is considered the easiest and most 'family-friendly' yet it is also the longest at 9km return. Overall, we really enjoyed this hike and the scenic views, Snowdonia really is beautiful! However, the summit experience was crazy - so busy and the queuing!? But hey, we got an epic view!!

That brought back wonderful memories. I'm lucky enough to have done that route twice and love the section where the paths merge. "Toe cruncher" is the bet description for most of the drop back to Llanberis. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Haha the toe cruncher, oh god that was brutal! Thanks for your lovely comment ❤️
Lovely video! We just done it on the same path. Cloudy when we got there, luckily we had no queue jumping and people were patient. Really hurt the legs coming down!
Oh maybe we just had a really busy day up there?! Good to hear people were nice and friendly ❤️
Toe cruncher and hurting knees...yes I remember that going down Croagh Patrick here in Ireland.
Hahaha 😝
Haven’t been to Wales for years. I don’t remember much of Snowdon. So this was cool to see
Awww glad we could bring that to you!
We did that walk back in the Eighties and when we got to the summit you could not see your hand in front of your face due to the mist. We had to grope our way to the pinnacle and it was a total waste of time trying to get a picture. When we got about halfway back down we left the path and pitched our two man tent and cooked something to eat and a hot drink, a cigarette and watched nightfall. It it so dark on the mountain and way off in the distance you could make out the odd light from farm houses. Such a peaceful night's sleep, then a gentle trek down to the car. A great experience.
Wow that sounds amazing 🤩 what a memory that you got to share ❤️
Very cool video, narration is on point and camera edit excellent. Good job
Thanks for your lovely comment ❤️🙏🏼
I have climbed snowdonia and it was great when you are at the top it’s like being in the clouds very cold though hope you had a great time ☁️☁️☁️☁️
Thanks Katy! 🙏🏼 we had a wonderful time 😊
Great video. Id walk up n get train back. Charlotte looked lovely as always.
Thanks Dave, she’s the star of the show! 🌟 🤩🙌🏼
Beautiful scenery in a part of Wales I’ve never been to. Must be such an exhilarating feeling reaching the top, even after 15 min wait! Great vlog! 👍🏻❤️
Haha thanks Tracy! Would you wait in the queue?
@@cjexplores definitely, to get to the summit! Think us Brits are well used to queuing 😁
@@tracygrant2923 it did feel very British! Particularly the part when someone ran up and another shouted passive aggressively: “there’s a queue ‘ere!!!” 🤣🤣🤣
@@cjexplores haha 😂 🤣sounds familiar! 😍
@@tracygrant2923 🤣🤣🤣
Well done, even though I've done every path including Crib Goch many times I still love the Llanberis path, the exact route you took is a yearly race called the Snowdon International Mountain Race which I've done half a dozen times and it's a lot of fun, really fun just to watch too as the elite runners can get up and down in just over an hour, so seeing them fly down the mountain is incredible! My uncle use to drive the train so I've been on that a few times too, it's also a great experience, I always found the rack and pinion track fascinating.
Thanks Mark! We’d love to see the race up there, I hope there aren’t too many nasty tumbles 🙏🏼 we were quite lucky with the weather I feel, having sunshine on the summit and being able to see all around us!
Great views and a long walk. Thank you for climbing and showing so I don't have to do it 🤣🤣 1000 m of total ascent straight up in one day is a bit more than I would enjoy (have done more than 1000 m but on a more rollercoasty path) 🥵😄
🤣 awww thanks Torunn! It was pretty full on, straight up and some sections were very steep!
A very green and beautiful hike up Snowdon living in America in the lower 48 states we have 67 mountains over 14,000 ft. high....
Wowww 🤩🤩🤩 we can’t wait to explore the USA 🇺🇸
@@cjexplores Most of those 14,000 ft. mountain peaks are in the state of Colorado...
@@robertcolfack26 ahhh good to know. We have had the PCT on our minds for a few years now… I bet that passes through some of these incredible landscapes 😍
This path is described as the busiest and least interesting, but I definitely wouldn't say that it's not interesting!! I went in the afternoon on a September weekday and we didn't see anyone else ascending at the same time as us, only people coming down. As we approached the summit and the path converged with other paths we encountered others ascending but it wasn't too busy. It was an amazing day out and gave me a massive confidence boost since I didn't know if I was really fit enough to get to the top.👍👍
That’s amazing! Well done on taking on the summit challenge 👏🏼 will you try to visit some other peaks around the UK now?
@@cjexplores Yes, I hope to attempt Scafel Pike and Ben Nevis as soon as possible! It's my favourite activity in the world!!😄😄
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Order fantastic, wishing you a wonderful hike and clear skies at the summit 🙏🏼😁
@@cjexplores😁💖🌈🙏👍
That's a ery nice walk (and video) on top of a amazing mountain, it's still on my 'to-do-list'. How long did it take you to go up there and round-trip ? Thanks ! (love your video's ! 🙂
Our fitness tracker clocked us at just under 4 hours. But we were stopping a lot for pictures and filming obviously 😂 thanks for the support ❤️
@@cjexplores Well, it's not a race. But, thank for the info - i have an idea now about timing. Thank you for making such lovely videos.
@@verfpoteke that’s ok! Glad you found it helpful 🙏🏼❤️😁
👍🥰
How many KMs is your route?
14.5km round trip (9 miles if you're English 🏴)
Hi, great video, im planning to go next year, what month did you go?
Awesome! We hiked in late June and we’re very lucky with the weather 😊 all the best for your trip 🙌🏼
In the last year the temperature drop was unexpected from 18 c degrees to 9 c degrees. So you need come come ready
Wow!! That’s huge! 😳 thanks for the advice!
Total time to get up and down?
4 hours by our watch 😊
That's way too busy for me lol
It was a little bit too much for us too 😅
Why it have no forest ?
I guess it’s the altitude? And the wind maybe?
@@cjexplores Altitude ????? Its a joke ! Its just 600meters... its stupidly low... ahah ^^ i think its the wind...
@@bastouneuroatypicmusic6885 not sure! Not our area of expertise! The altitude is 1085m at the summit however
@@cjexplores I guess yes ok ! But even with 1085meters... its not high... In France Even in the Vosges Mountains in the North Eastern part, it have lot of forest even until some summits (the Highest summit is above almost 1500m) and at the same time, the climate is very very cold ! Also its very strange because on the summit of the Snowdon ok, yes its usual but even at the down valley... its have no trees ! Why ? Lot of grass ok but its very sad to see that it have no trees everywhere... its my opinion.
@@bastouneuroatypicmusic6885 A mountain is a mountain and everything over 2000 feet is a mountain, each mountain has it's treeline and Snowdonia has plenty of forest lower down, it's actually famous for its temperate rainforests which are incredibly beautiful, there are vast forests throughout Snowdonia including at the foot of Snowdon, on a bigger mountain the treeline is higher, so you get forests in other mountain ranges at several thousand feet, but that doesn't mean you can get trees on the top few thousand feet of lower mountains, there's nothing sad about it, all you've seen is footage of one path up one mountain, go and watch a video of the Gwydir Forest a few miles down the valley, which is a HUGE forest.
no snow
No Snow den
The train and shop at the top completely ruined the experience for me and the amount of people that pushed in front of the queue was a joke.
Hahahah 🤣 it’s so bizarre up there isn’t it?? Mountains are for climbing not train rides to the top!
Don’t ever join the queue, just go to the top……it’s a mountain not a shop!
To a lot of people’s dismay, some people did just that! You can imagine the shock and horror on the peoples faces in that queue! 🤣
