    I wrote this before but here it is more succinctly:
    I bought this holder. It is a great concept but it has some flaws and does not work effectively yet. They need to address these issues and listen to their end users, and take feedback. They do not seem willing and able to do this yet.
    2 Major issues.
    The space below the swing of the door is inadequate. Too often I could not push the door downward to remove the drill, because the drill handle blocked the door from opening all the way and I could not get the drill out. The lower area needs to be deepened or the gate/door needs to be shorter or needs to require less clearance.
    The gate door and the stop where it closes against have too much play from side to side. Too often I looked down and discovered the gate/door was on top of the stop, rather than below so I was unable to push it down to remove the drill. I had to flex one or both of them to move them away from each - other to move the gate/door back under the stop so I could use it.

      Would this properly hold a milwaukee fuel 18v drywall screwgun? Something tells me it would flop around a lot, that screw gun is huge.

    I've got one of these now and there is no better drill holster out there that I've ever seen. I can literally drop my drill into it without thinking about it and not have to worry about the drill at all, until I need it again ... all in a no-look, one-handed operation. It's the perfect drill holster in my opinion.

    • @ariip

      +Garrett Ramsay Have you run into the issues that I describe above? These have been really evident and occur repeatedly.

    • @RamsayX1
      @RamsayX1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Ari P Nope I haven't run into those issues at at all. The only thing I realized that I couldn't do, and it became rather obvious, is that I can't use a drill with a smaller, compact battery like a lot of 12V's are, the shape of the battery is what holds your drill into the holster so I had to make sure I was using larger batteries like my 18V's are. Problem solved.

    This is exactly what I was looking for. I found several alternatives on Amazon, but they are the holster type and don't allow holstering the drill without first removing the bit.
    I ordered one after watching this video and am waiting for it to arrive.

    I spend all my day on a ladder installing fixings. My concern is not people below me, its expensive flooring below me that might get damaged if I bump my drill off the ladder (where it has to rest when I'm not using it). My secondary concern is freeing up my hands to do something else without having to bend down and rest the drill on the ladder, or worse, climb down and place it on the floor (and then retrieve it 1 minute later). I've been using this holster for 3 months now and it is amazing. A guy I work with doesn't have one and he spends all day climbing up and down the ladder where I barely have to move. If it ever broke I'd rebuy it immediately (but I don't see this ever breaking). I also love the satisfying loud click that tells me the drill is secure, without having to look.
    I know this sounds like a paid advert, but it isn't (and frankly I don't give a shit if you believe me or not). TLDR: if you are thinking about getting a drill holster, get this one.

  • @ariip

    I wrote an email to the company with some concerns and never heard back. Bad customer service. The valley where the drill sits is not deep enough so you can not push the cover arm down to get the drill out easily. This is even the case with a milwaukee m12 with the larger square battery which will stay in the holster. Someone asked about the smaller m12 battery which you can not use since it is narrow and will slide out. Also strangely enough, the arm sometimes due to the flexing of the lower valley will flex and the arm will end up on top of the stop groove rather than below where it is suppose to sit. So when you push down to get the drill out, you can not push it down. You have to correct the position. They need to deepen the valley and make it more roomy for drills will a bigger handle/body and they need to stiffen the valley from flexing.

    I think this guy is onto something, Most hooks though move or collapse close to your body for doing jobs that don't need the hook. He needs to make it swing in and out somehow. Then I would buy one. Being in a scissor lift you would get caught on the railing a lot with this system. Anyway nice find.

    That fargin DeWalt crap says it all. We have a crew of 17 men, each with his own work truck provided by the district. Each man has over several thousands of dollars of tools and equipment on their trucks. We can outfit our work trucks with whatever tools we individually choose, cost is no concern, in my tool backpack alone, I have over $1,600.00 in handtools, meters/test equipment and a small impact driver.
    Of the 17 guys in our yard, only one guy still carries DeWalt. The rest have shed that yellow garbage for more reliable, powerful and technically improved powertool from other manufacturers. I've tried DeWalt and the crap just gave up the ghost almost as soon as I took it out of the box. Most the guys in my yard think it's crap too. I now and for a while have been using Rigid and their powertools are amazing. It is easily the most powerful, longest running gear in our yard and I work these tool very hard without even a hint of wear and tear.

    great job, if this thing kicks off well enough and you can spare the time maybe design a holder for cutting scissors(the ones used for drywall framing and such).
    one fell on my hand once with the pointy end going into it till it hit the bone it was quite nasty and needed a few stiches, and a few days ago someone lost his and scraped onto the other guys head barely avoiding bad injury.both of these instances the scissors were held in certified leather tool bags, the problem is they tend to fall easy if you lift your foot above waist level or if you sit in weird position restrained by the working space.

    It is a great concept and if the corrections were made, would be an effective holster, but as it is, I can not rely on it. I had a fabric porter cable holster for years with a velcro secure strap which served me well, but the velcro wore out. So every few years I just have to either replace the strap or get a new one. But with the velcro, rather than a plastic clip, I could release and secure it easily and with one hand. The clips are more cumbersome.

      +Alberto Lopez I have them and you can not. You can only use the m12 extended square batteries. But as my comment above states, even with a supposedly narrower handle on the m12 drills, the top bar will not push down easily and clear the drill handle. They need to enlarge the valley below so the release arm can clear the drill handle to get it out.

      +Ari P I find it funny when a product is ousted for not working when the buyer should think before buying about it's use.
      Like if i was to buy a small truck and then say "it cant tow my boat needs a bigger motor" Well then i should have got the bigger truck. If you have the older and or supper big drill maybe you need to think about that before buying. This is a plastic clip! so no it's not holding your 20# drill like my 1/4 ton cant tow my motor home.
      I'm running 20V DeWalt drill driver and this is good but my older 12V would be to heavy for it. Good thing I upgraded

      Disclaimer - I am not now, nor have I ever been a lawyer. These statements are from a layman's understanding of the laws regarding this subject.
      Trademarks can not completely eliminate the use of the word otherwise you simply saying the word or writing it would instantly constitute trademark infringement. In this case (I'm guessing you are referring to gorilla glue or gorilla glass), his gorilla hook may be using the word "Gorilla" in the name, but his logo is clearly different and the product he is trying to sell is clearly different from the other company's products. Now if he were to try to make a similar product to the other companies, he could run into some problems with infringement. One of the key components for proving trademark infringement is showing that the average consumer could mistake one product for another.

    • @witgangyounotube287
      @witgangyounotube287 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      don't even start on steel tools nowadays, there's stud crimper we use for framing drywall walls and it's basically 2 pieces of steel held together by a screw and it costs freakin 70 to 100 euro, if i had a welder and a sheet cutting press and a small lathe i could crank about 100 a day by myself, but no we gotta pay the fkn patent fee which seems 3-4 x the price of the tool.
      and all the alternatives are some cheap crap half made of aluminium and don't do the job as well. and now the new models of the same brand that was expensive got cheaper and break faster and with a manufacturing process about 3 -4 times more complicated than the last one... like wtf (oh and the old ones have been around for 30 years and they are still performing as brand new...)
